J&K Higher Education Department Announces FYUGP & Integrated PG Admissions 2026–27; Online Registration Begins May 9

The Higher Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the commencement of admissions for Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) and Integrated Postgraduate courses for the academic session 2026–27 across all government degree colleges.

According to the official notification issued by the Directorate of Colleges, admissions will be conducted through a centralized online portal, covering over 60 subjects across 142 colleges in the Union Territory. The selection of candidates will be strictly based on merit obtained in the 10+2 examination.

The online registration and preference filling process will start from May 9, 2026, and conclude on May 27, 2026. The first merit list is scheduled to be released on May 30, followed by admission formalities from June 1 to June 6.

The second merit list will be published on June 9, with candidates required to complete admission procedures between June 10 and June 15. A special spot round for vacant seats will be held from June 18 to June 25, 2026.

Classwork for winter zone colleges will commence from June 15, while summer zone colleges will begin classes from July 15, 2026.

Applicants must upload scanned copies of required documents including Class 10 and 12 marks certificates, domicile (if applicable), passport-size photographs, Aadhaar details, and category certificate. A non-refundable registration fee of ₹200 has been fixed.

The department has advised students to carefully fill their preferences and seek assistance from designated counselling and facilitation centres available at degree colleges across J&K.

9112 candidates appear at 29 exam centres

ANANTNAG, MAY 03: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 was conducted smoothly and successfully today at 29 designated examination centres across District Anantnag. In preparation for the event, the District Administration had made elaborate arrangements in advance, deploying adequate manpower and logistics alongside robust security and surveillance protocols to ensure full integrity of the process.

To ensure fairness and transparency as well as compliance with the NTA guidellines, the administration had made certain key measures including deployment of a sufficient number of observers, magistrates, superintendents, deputy superintendents, supervisors, and invigilating staff. Proper training of the deployed staff had also been conducted as part of the preparatory process.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, accompanied by ADM Tariq Ahmad Malik (ACR) and other concerned officials, visited several centres including SHMM, GDC (Boys), GDC (Women) and GBMHSS, Brakpora to take a firsthand stock of the arrangements, logistics and requisite facilities.

During these visits, the respective centre staff briefed the DC on the specific measures taken for candidate verification, seating arrangements, and the technical readiness of the venues.

The DC instructed the officials that the examination be conducted strictly as per the guidelines and SOPs issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) while extending full support and guidance to the candidates for their ease and convenience. He emphasized maintaining full coordination among the deputed staff and asked them to immediately flag any issues to the District Control Room so that appropriate action could be taken without delay. He reiterated that the smooth, fair, and successful conduct of examinations is essential to ensure integrity of the selection process.

Notably out of 9286 candidates, 9112(above 98%) appeared for the test at the designated exam centres. They expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangements and the supportive environment provided at the centres.

Srinagar, May 02: With the Padyatra led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha set to take place on Sunday (tomorrow), Srinagar has been fully decked up, while security has been significantly beefed up, with a coordinated effort ensuring foolproof arrangements across the city.

The march, part of the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, is expected to witness unprecedented participation, particularly from youth, students, civil society groups, and government officials.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a comprehensive security grid has been activated by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with paramilitary forces. Anti-sabotage checks, area domination, frisking, and heightened surveillance have been put in place, especially along vulnerable stretches and gathering points.

Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and emergency units have been deployed strategically to respond to any contingency. The entire route has undergone sanitisation and security clearance.

The traffic department has rolled out a detailed mobility plan, including diversions, designated parking zones, and restricted entry for heavy vehicles in certain areas. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel in advance and adhere to official advisories to avoid inconvenience.

Health services have been put on high alert, with ambulances, mobile medical units, and healthcare personnel stationed at regular intervals. Fire and emergency services, along with disaster response teams, will remain on standby throughout the duration of the march.

Municipal teams have carried out extensive cleanliness drives, road repairs, and installation of public facilities such as drinking water stations and mobile toilets. Volunteers and local organisations have been engaged to assist authorities in crowd facilitation and awareness efforts.

Srinagar, May 2 (KNC): The Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited, has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various parts of Kashmir to facilitate maintenance and infrastructure works.

According to the official communiqué, the shutdown of the 33 KV Shamsipora Tapline will be observed on May 4 and 6, 2026, resulting in disruption of power supply to Shamsipora, Sudsanoo, Turka, Tachloo and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Similarly, the shutdown of 132/33 KV, 100 MVA GIS Khanyar will affect Nowshera, Raja Colony, Industrial Estate BAMK, Zadibal, Hawal, Botakadal, BSNL, Gilkadal, Kathi Darwaza, Rainawari Psychiatric Hospital, PHE, Central Jail, Saida Kadal and adjoining areas from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on May 4 and 6, 2026.

In another schedule, shutdown of 33 KV KP Bagh line and 33 KV Exhibition line will impact KP Bagh, Soiteng, PHE, Kursoo Rajbagh, Rajbagh Bund, Gogjibagh, Museum, Jawahar Nagar, Mehjoor Nagar, Rambagh, Old Barzullah and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on May 5, 11 and 14, 2026.
