Global Tensions Fuel Anxiety, But No Fuel Shortage: Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani

“Global Tensions Affecting Economy, Causing Public Anxiety”: CM’s Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani

Says no fuel shortage, hoarding behind panic buying

Srinagar: Amid growing global tensions impacting economies and fuel supply chains worldwide, Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani on Tuesday said there is no shortage of fuel or LPG in the region, attributing current concerns to panic hoarding by consumers.

Speaking to media persons, as per news agency JKNS, Advisor Nasir said that people tend to stockpile unnecessarily, which creates an artificial sense of scarcity.

“We have always said that there is no shortage of gas or fuel, but people have a habit of hoarding. If a household needs one cylinder, they try to keep three or four filled. Even those who haven’t taken gas for months are now standing in queues,” he said.

He said such behaviour leads to avoidable panic and stressed that if people avoid hoarding, there would be no shortage of essential supplies.

“If people refrain from stockpiling, there is no shortage anywhere. We hope the situation will stabilise and these concerns will be addressed,” he added.

Referring to the global situation, Advisor Nasir said ongoing tensions in regions like the Middle East are having a wider impact.

“Its effects are not limited to the Middle East or Iran; they are being felt across the world. Our economy, fuel availability, and overall stability are getting affected. People are worried about what the future holds,” he said.

He also expressed concern over escalating tensions, warning that the situation could become more serious if conflicts intensify further. (JKNS)
