DSEK issues heatwave advisory for schools in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15 (KNS): Amid soaring temperatures in Kashmir, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued an advisory to schools, urging precautionary measures to safeguard students during the ongoing heatwave.

“Conduct morning assemblies indoors or in shaded areas.

Avoid outdoor sports or physical activities after 10 AM.

Minimize students’ exposure to direct sunlight Student wellbeing is our top priority,” said DSEK Director Dr G N Itoo, appealing to all school heads to ensure these measures are strictly followed.(KNS)

UGC NET June 2025: NTA to Release Exam City Slip Before June 25

The NTA is set to release the UGC NET June 2025 city intimation slip soon at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. The slip will help candidates know their exam city ahead of the June 25–29 test dates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the city intimation slip for the UGC NET June 2025 exam shortly on its official website — ugcnet.nta.ac.in. This slip will help candidates know the city where their exam centre is located, enabling them to make travel and accommodation arrangements well in advance.

The UGC NET June 2025 exams will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode between June 25 and June 29, 2025. Candidates are advised to frequently check the official site for the latest updates regarding the release of the city slip and admit card.

STEPS TO CHECK AND DOWNLOAD THE UGC NET JUNE 2025 CITY SLIP

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Candidates must remember that the city intimation slip is not the same as the admit card. The admit card for the exam will be issued separately after the city slip is released.

  • It will include the candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, signature, exam date, centre address, and shift timing
  • A printed copy of the admit card, along with a valid photo ID, is mandatory for entry into the exam hall
  • Candidates should verify all details carefully and report any errors to NTA immediately

ACB traps HC Police Station Kathua, flees spot, accused at large

Kathua, Jun 14: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said to have trapped a Head Constable of Police Station Kathua for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000.

As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint alleging therein that a public servant namely HC Roshan Din, No. 432/K of Police Station Kathua who is investigating the case FIR No. 193/2025 registered at Police Station Kathua demanded illegal gratification from the complainant on account of deleting/removing his name from the list of accused persons in the said case, even though he provided CCTV footage/attendance in the factor on the date of occurrence in order to prove his innocence.

“The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for deleting his name from case FIR No. 193/2025 registered at Police Station Kathua. After negotiation, the accused agreed to take a bribe amount of Rs 15,000 from the complainant,” the statement reads.

Since, the complainant didn’t want to pay the bribe and he approached the Anti Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the accused public servant under law, it reads.

“On receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirms the demand of bribe by the public servant concerned and accordingly, a case FIR No. 12/2025 U/S 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered in Police Station ACB Jammu and investigation taken up,” the statement added.

During the course of investigation, a trap team headed by Gazetted rank officer was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and accused public servant after accepting bribe amount of Rs 15000 from the complainant, sensing the presence of ACB on spot, fled away from the spot and threw the tainted bribe money in the bushes on the NHW near Palli, it added.

“The tainted bribe money was recovered from the bushes by independent witnesses and seized in the instant case,” it reads, adding that the search was also conducted in the residential house of the accused in the presence of magistrate and independent witnesses. However, the accused person is still at large and investigation of the case is in progress—(KNO)

Focus on Seamless Coordination & Foolproof Arrangements for Pilgrims’ Safety

Srinagar, Jun 13 (JKNS): The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials to review the security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

The meeting was attended by Shri Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Shri Nalin Prabhat, DGP J&K; Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, GoC 15 Corps; Shri S.J.M Gillani, Special Director General (Coordination), PHQ; Shri Pankaj Thakur, Joint Director IB; Shri Nitish Kumar, ADGP CID J&K; Shri Rajesh Kumar, ADG CRPF; Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, CEO SABS and Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Shri VK Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; senior officials of Police, Army, CAPFs and Intelligence Agencies.

The Lieutenant Governor took a comprehensive review of the security apparatus and measures deployed by the security agencies to ensure safety of the pilgrims.

He directed for seamless coordination among the Civil Administration, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, J&K Police, Army, Security Forces, and all the other crucial stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and successful holy pilgrimage.

The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the working of the security grid and various significant steps being taken by Army, CAPFs and J&K Police to ensure foolproof security for the Yatra.

The Lieutenant Governor also reviewed the contingency plan, deployment of Police and security personnel, preparedness and response mechanism of line departments and emphasized on better coordination among all stakeholders involved in yatra management.

Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor gave an overview of the Yatra arrangements and key measures taken to further enhance the facilities and services for pilgrims and smooth conduct of Yatra. (JKNS)
