The Ladli Beti Scheme JK 2025 is a financial assistance and investment initiative launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to ensure financial security for girl children from economically weaker families. This scheme aims to provide long-term savings and encourage the education and empowerment of girls. The scheme is targeted specifically at families whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 75,000. It is available to girl children born on or after April 1, 2015, and who are residents of selected districts in Jammu and Kashmir. A unique feature of the scheme is that the first phase consists of monthly contributions of Rs. 1,000 by the J&K Government for a period of 14 years.
The Ladli Beti Scheme is structured as a two-phase hybrid deposit plan. In the first phase, which is a recurring deposit account, the government deposits Rs. 1,000 per month into the beneficiary’s account for 14 years. One month after the final installment is made, the account transitions into the second phase, which is a Cumulative Term Deposit (CCR) that continues for an additional 7 years. The maturity benefit from both phases is released once the girl reaches the age of 21 or after 85 months from the last installment—whichever is later—by directly crediting the amount into her savings bank account.
To apply for the scheme, applicants must visit the official Service Plus Portal. The process involves logging in or creating a new user account through the MeriPehchaan service. Once registered, users can navigate to the “Apply for Services” section and search for the application related to financial assistance under the Ladli Beti Scheme. Applicants must upload required documents such as proof of income, birth certificate of the girl child, domicile, Aadhaar cards of the parents/guardians and the child, identity and address proofs, and a copy of the first page of a bank passbook. After submission, applicants should download the acknowledgment receipt to track the application status.
The scheme has no application fee, making it accessible to all eligible citizens. The primary objective is to promote financial independence and social upliftment of the girl child. The scheme is particularly important in addressing gender disparities and supporting female education and well-being. For further support or queries, citizens can reach out to the Panchayat Informatics Division under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. The initiative represents a proactive step by the J&K Government toward building a more inclusive and secure future for girls in the region.
The Ladli Beti scheme is created by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to provide an investment plan to girl children in the state. This is an investment plan created to provide financial assistance in the long run to all the beneficiaries. The investment plan is available for people who have an annual income of less than 75000 INR. The scheme is divided into two parts and the first part will be matured after 14 years.
In the first phase of the scheme, the installments will be given directly by the Jammu and Kashmir Government and then the scheme will be promoted to the second phase. A monthly contribution of 1000 rupees will be made by the J and K government in the first phase.
The girl child must be born on or after 01/04/2015 whose applications are complete in all respects accompanied by a sanction letter from the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the selected domiciliary district (Srinagar, Anantnag, Budgam, Jammu, Kathua, Pulwama, Samba, Kishtwar).
The annual income of the beneficiary from all sources must be less than rupees 75000.
Phase Wise Contribution and Tenure
The Ladli Beti scheme is divided into two phases and can be considered as a hybrid deposit plan.
Phase 1 consists of a recurring deposit for 14 years with the date of completion as one month after the last installment received in the account.
Phase 2 is A Cumulative Term Deposit (CCR) for 07 years.
In Phase 1, a monthly contribution of 1000 rupees is to be made by the Jammu and Kashmir Government.

May 21 – May 26: During this period, Jammu and Kashmir are expected to remain largely hot and dry, with the possibility of brief light rain at isolated locations, particularly in the late afternoon. The conditions are not expected to bring any significant respite from the rising temperatures.
May 27 – May 31: As the month progresses, the hot and dry weather is forecast to continue. However, a slight increase in weather activity may be observed in the form of light rain or thundershowers at scattered places across the Union Territory. This may offer temporary relief, especially in regions affected by prolonged heat.

The NEET UG 2025 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 4, saw participation from a record 22.7 lakh candidates across over 5,453 centres in nearly 500 cities. This comes a year after the NEET UG paper leak controversy, which had cast a shadow over the credibility of the national-level medical entrance exam. The question paper comprised 180 questions—45 each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 from Biology—carrying a total of 720 marks. According to several coaching institutes and student reviews, the difficulty level of the 2025 NEET paper was higher compared to previous years, particularly in the Physics section. This heightened difficulty is likely to result in a dip in the cut-off marks required for admission to government medical colleges across the country.
The expected NEET UG 2025 cut-off for different categories has been predicted by education experts from institutions like Aakash Institute, Vidyamandir Classes, and Motion Education. Based on trends and the challenging nature of the paper, the anticipated cut-off for the General/EWS category ranges from 720 to 155 marks, while for SC, ST, and OBC candidates, the cut-off is likely to fall between 154 and 125 marks. For candidates under the Physically Handicapped (PH) category, the expected cut-offs are slightly lower, ranging from 135 to 125 marks. These figures indicate a potential drop of 40 to 50 marks from the previous year’s government college cut-offs, as suggested by experts including Nitin Vijay, the founder of Motion Education. Moreover, the all-India quota cut-off is expected to range between 530 and 560 marks, while admission into top institutions like AIIMS Delhi may require scores between 660 and 670 marks.
Looking at previous years’ trends, the qualifying percentile for the General category has remained at 50th, with cut-off marks ranging between 720–162 in 2024 and 720–137 in 2023. For SC, ST, and OBC candidates, the qualifying percentile stands at 40th, with cut-off ranges gradually increasing over the years due to rising competition and performance standards. Experts believe that despite the paper’s toughness, this year’s percentile-based cut-off will not fluctuate dramatically, as it depends on the highest score in the merit list. The final answer key and NEET UG 2025 result will be released by June, and it is only then that the actual cut-off marks and admissions scenario will become clear. Students and parents are advised to stay updated through the NTA’s official announcements and to make informed decisions based on official data and counseling schedules.
NEET Expected Cutoff Marks 2025 For MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BAMS Government College: The National Testing Agency (NTA) held the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) exam on May 4 and medical aspirants are awaiting the results and the cut-off. NTA will publish the provisional answer keys in May, followed by the final answer key and the NEET result by June. The NEET UG cut-off will be announced along with the NEET UG result 2025.
Last year, the NEET UG cut-off percentile for the general category was 50 for MBBS and BDS candidates and 40 for OBC, SC and ST candidates. The NTA will determine the percentile of NEET UG based on the highest marks scored in the all-India common merit list for NEET UG 2025.
According to the academic desk, Vidyamandir Classes, students can expect similar qualifying scores to previous years. For the General category, the expected qualifying cut-off is around 720–162 marks, while for OBC, SC, and ST categories, it may range from 161–127 marks.”

“These are percentile-based cut-offs and may vary depending on the difficulty of the exam and overall student performance,” the academic desk added.
The NEET UG cut-off in 2024 for the general category increased to 720-162 from 720-137 in 2023. The same pattern was observed for other categories as well. The cut-off for SC, ST, and OBC candidates increased to 161-127 from 136-107 in 2023.

As per Nitin Vijay, founder and CEO, Motion Education: “The question paper was for a total of 720 marks. It included 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions from Biology (Zoology and Botany), making a total of 180 questions. The difficulty level of the paper was higher compared to last year. Due to the tougher paper, the cut-off for government medical colleges is expected to be 40 to 50 marks lower than last year.”

Baramulla, May 21 : In a swift move aimed at restoring order and accountability, Jammu and Kashmir Bank has suspended two senior officers posted in Baramulla district following reports of a physical and verbal altercation between them in the presence of staff and customers.
The suspended officials have been identified as Sheikh Mohammad Muzaffar, Assistant General Manager and Cluster Head Baramulla, and Tanveer Bashir, Chief Manager and Branch Manager of T P Baramulla. According to an official order issued by the bank, both officers were placed under immediate suspension pending a formal investigation into “acts of omission and commission” during their tenure.
As per the suspension terms, Muzaffar has been attached to the Zonal Office in Srinagar, while Bashir has been moved to the Cluster Office in Kupwara. They are restricted from entering any other bank premises and cannot leave their respective stations without prior approval from the competent authority. Additionally, their specimen signatures have been placed under abeyance, effectively halting their financial authority within the institution.
The incident, which reportedly took place inside the bank premises, drew criticism from customers and employees alike. Several locals praised the bank’s prompt disciplinary action, claiming it was necessary to preserve professional conduct within public-facing institutions.
Notably, some customers accused one of the suspended officers of routinely harassing clients under various pretexts and not being cooperative in service-related matters.
“The suspension is a welcome step. The behavior of some officials had become intolerable, and it was affecting public trust in the bank,” a customer outside the branch remarked.
JK Bank has assured that a thorough inquiry will be conducted, and further action will be taken based on the findings. In the meantime, both officers will receive subsistence allowance in accordance with service rules during their suspension period. (CNS)
JE post applications: NIT students urge SSB to extend last date
Srinagar, May 20: Students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday urged the government to extend the registration deadline for the recently advertised Junior Engineer (Civil) posts.
The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) recently announced that the submission of application forms for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) in the Public Works (R&B) Department/Jal Shakti Department, UT Cadre—in continuation to the Advertisement Notification No. 03 of 2025, Dated 24/04/2025 Will begin from 18/05/2025 to 16/06/2025. The written examination will be held on 10 August (Civil).
The students from the NIT said that their degrees will be completed by the end of July, this year and that if the dates are extended they will also be able to compete in the examination.
“Our degrees will be completed by the end of July, this year. We request for the extension of the registration date beyond our result date 29 July 2025,” said Mohammad Rasib, a student.
Danish Ahmad, another student, pointed out that JKSSB has been consistently advertising and filling these posts over the past few years. He expressed concern that the government may not announce similar vacancies in the near future, as most of the positions now appear to have been filled.
Our future is at stake, we will have to sit idle at home after years of hard work and dedication,” Ahmad said, adding, “we are just a couple of months away from completing our degrees, yet we’re being denied a fair chance to apply.”
The students further urged the government to either extend the application deadline for the posts or allow final-year students to be eligible for the examination, with the condition that they submit proof of their degree during the document verification stage after the conclusion of written test.
The students appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene in this matter and extend the dates of the advertisement. (GK)
Over 13 lakh Govt school students gets free textbooks, uniform
Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): In Jammu and Kashmir more than 13 lakh students of government-run-schools are being provided perks of free textbooks and uniforms under the Right to Education Act.
An official said that under Right to Education, “At least eight lakh students of classes 1st to 8th are provided with the free uniform. The usual cost for the uniform is Rs 600 per child.”
Besides, the official according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “At least 5.50 lakh children of classes 3rd to 5th are provided with free textbooks.”
About the quality education and Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE), the official further said, “15,550 pre-primary sections of Kindergarten were started in schools of UT including the PM SHRI Schools.”
It also said that 13,804 AAYA and helpers stands engaged for these Pre-Primary Sections. “46 Model Kindergartens, have been constructed out of 188 Model Kindergartens.”
About the skill education the official further said, “Vocational Education has been implemented in 1350 schools including in PM SHRI Schools and it will be introduced in 554 schools.”
The official further mentioned that 2146 Vocational Trainers have been engaged and 1,34,000 students from class 9th to 12th are enrolled in 15 different trades.
“So far 1335 Vocational Labs have been established and 1915 more will installed in coming months,” the official said—(KNO)
