Srinagar, Apr 15 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Jammu and Kashmir on April 19 for the inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project has been postponed.

Official sources privy to the development told news agency JKNS that the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister has been postponed.

“The visit scheduled for April 19 has been postponed. A new date will be communicated later,” a top official told JKNS, however, remained tight-lipped about the reason behind the postponement.

The USBRL project, one of the most strategically important infrastructure projects in the region, connects the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India through a railway network that includes the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River, along with a series of tunnels and long-span bridges across the Pir Panjal range.

The project is seen as a major milestone for J&K’s connectivity and development, with far-reaching implications for tourism, the economy, and transportation in the region.

The railway line has already been tested successfully, and preparations for the inaugural ceremony had reached the final stage. Top railway officials and security agencies were coordinating to ensure the smooth execution of the high-profile event. (JKNS)

Moderate Spell of Rains, Snow Expected in J&K from Apr 18: Dir MET

Srinagar, Apr 15 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Tuesday said that several areas across Kashmir witnessed a significant spike in maximum temperatures while predicting wet spell from April 18.

Director MET Dr Mukhtar Ahmad as per news agency JKNS said that several areas across Kashmir witnessed a significant spike in maximum temperatures, with many stations recording 8–11°C above normal.

Srinagar recorded 30.4°C, which is the second highest maximum temperature for April. Qazigund reported 29.8°C its third highest while Pahalgam recorded 25.4°C, Kupwara 29.5°C, Kukernag 27.5°C, and Gulmarg 20.7°C, Dr Mukhtar said.

In Jammu division, maximum temperatures stood at 35.7°C in Jammu, 25.8°C in Banihal, 24.1°C in Batote, 32.4°C in Katra, and 26.4°C in Bhaderwah.

Dr Mukhtar said weather will remain generally dry from April 15 to 17, while a fresh spell of moderate rain and snow over higher reaches is likely from the evening of April 18.

“From April 18 to 20, most areas are likely to witness cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/snow, with a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated to scattered places during April 18 and 19, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds,” he said.

He added that April 21 may see cloudy weather with light rain/thunder at scattered locations, while April 22 to 25 is expected to remain generally dry. A fresh cloudy spell is likely from April 26 to 27.

The department has advised travellers, tourists and transporters to plan their journeys accordingly and follow administrative and traffic advisories. Farmers have been advised to continue agricultural operations till April 17.

There is a possibility of moderate snowfall over higher reaches between April 18 and 20. Landslides, mudslides and shooting stones may also occur at vulnerable places during the wet spell, the official said. (JKNS)

JEE Main 2025: How Will NTA Prepare Overall Merit List For Exam

The best of the two NTA Scores (total) will be considered for further processing for those candidates who appeared in both sessions.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently released the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2025 Session 2. Post the closure of the objection window, the agency would soon be announcing the final results for the JEE Main Session 2 exams. Along with the results, NTA will also  declare the ranks of the candidates.

The NTA scores for each of the candidates in total in BE/BTech for Session 1 as well as for Session 2 of JEE (Main) – 2025 will be merged for the compilation of results and preparation of the overall merit list/ranking. The best of the two NTA scores (total) will be considered for further processing for those candidates who appeared in both sessions.

In case of a tie, when two or more candidates obtain equal total NTA Score in JEE (Main)-2025, the inter-se merit of such candidates will be determined as per ‘Method of resolving ties’.

The scores for each of the candidates in total in Paper 2A (BArch) or Paper 2B (BPlanning) for Session 1 as well as for Session 2 of JEE (Main)-2025 will be merged for compilation of results and preparation of overall merit list/ranking. The best of the two NTA Scores (total) will be considered for further processing for those candidates who appeared in both sessions.  In case of a tie, inter-se merit of such candidates will be determined as per ‘Method of resolving ties’.

NTA concluded the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main) Session 2 on April 9, 2025. The exam was held on April 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9. The agency conducted the Paper 1 (BE/BTech) on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, while Paper 2 (BArch/BPlan) on April 9.
