JKAS Departmental Exams Process Nearing Completion: CM Omar Abdullah

Says, Syllabus Finalization Nearing Completion, Exams to Follow

Srinagar, Mar 15: The Office of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister has acknowledged delays in the JKAS departmental exams but assured that the process is in its final stages.

In a post on X, the CM’s office, as per news agency JKNS, wrote, “In my recent reply in the Legislative Assembly to a question raised by an Hon’ble MLA, I acknowledged the delays in JKAS departmental exams but assured that the process is nearing completion.”

The syllabus finalization for these exams is in its final stages, after which the exams will be conducted, it further stated.

Earlier, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the J&K Legislative Assembly that the syllabus for the 2018-24 batches of J&K Administrative Services is in the finalization phase, and the exams will be held soon after its completion. Addressing a supplementary query by MLA Aijaz Ahmad Jan, the CM admitted the delays but reassured that the process is now close to completion. (JKNS)

Weather Update for Jammu & Kashmir: March 15, 2025

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory for Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting a mix of rain and snow over the next few days, followed by a generally dry period.

Weather Forecast

  • March 15: Most parts of J&K will experience intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and snowfall (in higher reaches).
  • March 16: A few places may witness brief spells of light rain/snow during the morning, with gradual improvement expected in the afternoon.
  • March 17–25: The weather will remain mostly dry, with some cloudiness on the evening of March 19.

Advisory & Precautions

For Travelers & Transporters:

  • Follow the latest administrative and traffic advisories before planning any travel.
  • Expect potential road disruptions due to rain, snow, or landslides.

For Farmers:

  • Suspend all farming operations until March 16 to avoid losses due to wet conditions.

AISSEE 2025: Advance City Intimation Slip Released for All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the advance city intimation slip for candidates appearing in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam. Candidates appearing in the entrance exam can visit the official website of the NTA to download the city intimation slip. The slips are hosted on the https://nta.ac.in/https://exams.nta.ac.in/AISSEE/
They will  be required to enter their login credentials such as application number and date of birth to download the same.

NTA will conduct the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam on April 5, 2025 at different centres located across the country.

The candidates must note that this is not the admit card for entrance examination. This is only an advance intimation of the exam city allotted where the examination centre will be located, to facilitate the candidates. The agency will release the admit card of the entrance examination in due course.

AISSEE is conducted for admission to classes 6 and 9, enabling students to join English medium residential schools affiliated with CBSE that prepare cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and other Training Academies for officers. Currently, there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools across the country.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has granted approval for the establishment of 35 new Sainik Schools, which will operate in collaboration with NGOs, private schools, and state governments.

Eligibility for admission to class 6  
Candidates must be between 10 and 12 years of age as of March 31, 2023
Admission for girls is available only in Class 6 in all Sainik Schools

Eligibility for admission to class 9
Candidates must be between 13 and 15 years of age as of March 31, 2025, and should have passed class 8 from a recognised school at the time of admission
Admission for girls to class 9 is subject to the availability of vacancies

Schools Closed in Several Areas of Kupwara Till March 17

Srinagar, Mar 15 (JKNS): In view of incessant rains and snowfall, the District Administration Kupwara has ordered the closure of all schools in several area of District Kupwara.

District admin as per news agency JKNS ordered that all schos in Machil, Keran, Budnambal, Kumkadi, Jumagund, and upper areas of Karnah will remain closed till March 17, 2025.

The administration took this decision as a precautionary measure due to continuous rainfall in plains and snowfall in higher reaches, which has led to disruptions in road connectivity and an increased risk of avalanches and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Officials have advised residents, especially those in hilly regions, to avoid unnecessary travel and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.

Meanwhile, concerned departments have been directed to remain on alert to handle any emergencies arising from the prevailing weather conditions. (JKNS)

Srinagar, Mar 15:- National Education Policy 2020 has been implemented across J&K with colleges already offering job oriented courses, Govt said on Saturday.

Replying to a question of Javid Riyaz, Minister for Higher education as per news agency JKNS said The Department has already implemented National Education Policy (ΝΕΡ)- 2020 in all Government Degree Colleges across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. These colleges already offer job-oriented/skill-based courses to enhance students’ employability and practical learning.

“Business Management programs are being offered in good number of colleges in the UT. Artificial Intelligence as a separate program has not been introduced as yet, as Artificial Intelligence is new and developing area of learning. But Artificial Intelligence is taught as part of curriculum of Computer Applications.” He said.—(JKNS)

As learnt by news agency Kashmir Bulletin said that in a bid to ensure safety of the students and teachers alike, the district administration has ordered for closure of all educational institutions today.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing widespread rains over last several days, with the MeT office having predicted the continuation of weather vagaries at least till tomorrow. (KB)

The University Grants Commission (UGC), in an official notification, called for applications from interested and eligible Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) for recognition to offer programmes under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and/or online mode for the academic year 2025-26

Applications are invited for the academic year 2025-26, with the academic session beginning July-August- 2025, and onwards.

The online application window has opened for applications and will close on April 3, 2025. The Hard Copy Submission Deadline for the original affidavit & annexures can be submitted till April 15, 2025.
