5 IAS officers transferred, Nitish Rajora is new Director Info

Srinagar, Jan 30 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of five senoir IAS officials in the interest of administration.

As per an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jatin Kishore (IAS, AGMUT:2020), Additional Secretary in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and holding additional charge as Director, Information J&K, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal.

Shishir Gupta (IAS, AGMUT:2020), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Shopian. Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar (JKAS), whom he replaces, will report to the General Administration Department for further posting.

Nitish Rajora (IAS, AGMUT:2021), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Jammu (North), has been transferred and posted as Director, Information J&K.

Rakesh Kumar (IAS, AGMUT:2021), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Hiranagar, has been transferred and posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.

Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak (IAS, AGMUT:2022), Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Akhnoor, Jammu, has been transferred and posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri, Baramulla. He replaces Javid Ahmad Rather (JKAS), who will report to the General Administration Department for further posting—(KNO)

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) is inviting applications for a recruitment drive for 2258 apprentice posts in the North Eastern Railway (NER).

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) has been issued a notification of the recruitment for apprentice posts for vacancies in East Central Railway (ECR) and North Eastern Railway (NER) in different vacant positions. Candidates with appropriate educational qualifications and who fulfill other criteria demands can apply for the vacant posts via the official website of RRC at apprentice.rrcner.net.

RRC will fill up a total of 1104 vacancies under NER and 1154 vacancies under ECR in the organization.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Act Apprentice positions in East Central Railway, The applicants must have an SSC/Matriculation/10th class pass certification or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) with a minimum of 50% marks, in the aggregate, from a recognized Board. OR they must have passed ITI in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT recognized by the Government of India.

The age limit set for the candidates is between 15 years of age and should not be above 24 years.

Application Fees

The application fee for the recruitment drive is Rs 100/-. However, SC/ST/PWD/Women Applicants are exempted from payment of fees. The payment can be made using a Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, etc.

Selection Process

The candidates will be selected based on the merit list, and document/ certificate verification. The merit list will be made as per the percentage of marks obtained by the applicants in both Matriculation [with minimum 50% (aggregate) marks] and ITI examination, giving equal weightage to both.

Sorry state of rural Govt schools: In JK, over 52% 8th class students cannot read text of 2nd standard

More than 70 Pc students of Class-VIII in Govt schools cannot do division tasks in Maths

Srinagar, Jan 29 (KNO): In rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the education system at middle class level is showing a decline trend among the 8th class wherein less than 50 percent of government schools students are not able to read the texts of 2nd standard level.

Besides, more than 70 percent of students in government schools in the rural areas are not able to do the division tasks in mathematics.

The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) of 2024 report released on Tuesday states that during the survey it found only 47.2 percent students in Jammu and Kashmir were able to read 2nd standard level text.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the survey further suggests that the reading of the books of junior classes was in decline trend because at least 55.5 percent students were able to read 2nd standard level text in 2018 that reduced to 50.2 percent in 2022 and 47.2 percent in 2024.

The survey further reveals that only 28 percent of students in 8th standard were able to do the tasks of division in Mathematics.

The ASER report also states that 25.3 percent of students studying in government schools of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 were able to do the task of division followed by 26.3 percent in 2022 and 28 percent in the year 2024.

Besides, the report said that the out of school figures for boys and girls was low in Jammu and Kashmir even in the age group of 15-16.

“Data from ASER show that even those in the age group beyond 6-14 have high enrollment levels,” it reads.

Pertinently, the sampling of the survey is based on selection of 30 random villages in each district, 20 households in each village. It also surveyed all children of age 3-16 in household and assessed all children of age 5-16 in household. The sampling method has remained consistent over time—(KNO)

Govt likely to install water meters on commercial establishments under phase 1: CE PHE

Srinagar, Jan 29: Chief Engineer, Kashmir PHE Jal Shakti Department, Braham Jyoti Sharma said on Wednesday that government will likely to install water meters on commercial establishments under phase-1.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Sharma said that the Jal Shakti Department has covered 88 percent households who have been provided tap water under Har Ghar Jal Yojana scheme. “So far 88 percent tap water connections have been completed under Har Ghar Jal Yojana scheme. Under Jal Jeevan Mission the department is monitoring the working and implementation of schemes from centre and state levels. The work is under progress and 88 percent of task under Household Tap Connection (HTC) is completed, while the rest is underway,” he said.

He said the government has fixed March 31, 2025 as deadline for the completion of the project.

On Judicious use of water, he said that government will likely to install water meters in commercial establishments during phase-1.

“This is under consideration of the government. However in first phase the water meters will likely be installed in commercial establishments, then it will be extended further according to the mandate of the government,” he said.

CUET PG 2025 Registrations To Close Soon, Check Last Date To Apply

CUET PG is held for admission into all postgraduate programmes in all central universities, other participating universities since 2022.

National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the registrations for the Common University Entrance Test- Postgraduate (CUET- PG) – 2025 on February 1, 2025. Candidates who wish to apply for the entrance test for admission to postgraduate programmes into central universities and other participating universities/ institutions / organisations / autonomous colleges can register on the official website by 11:50 pm on February 1.

The window for correction in particulars will be open from February 3-5, 2025. The announcement of the city of examination will be made in the first week of March 2025. The admit cards will be available for downloading from the NTA website four days before the actual date of the exam. The CUET PG exam will be held between March 13- 31, 2025.

The candidates will be required to submit only one application form for the exam. Under no circumstances, they will be allowed to fill more than one application form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled more than one application form.

The medium of the question paper for CUET (PG)- 2025 will be English and Hindi (Bilingual) except for languages, MTech/Higher Sciences, and Acharya papers (except Hindu Studies, Baudha Dharshan, and Indian Knowledge System).  A total of 157 subjects are being offered in the CUET (PG) – 2025.

The Ministry of Education and UGC conducts the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into all postgraduate programmes in all central universities, other participating universities / institutions / organisations / autonomous colleges since 2022. The exam provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organisations (including State Universities, Deemed and Private Universities) across the country.
