Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNO): The government has finally allocated Rs 86 crore for the construction of 250-bed Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Anantnag.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday announced that Rs 86 crore have been allocated for the construction of 250-bed Maternity and Child Care Hospital in Anantnag.

It is pertinent to mention here that MCCH Anantnag is currently functioning from a dilapidated building with choked space that was declared unsafe by the fire and emergency department in 2014.

Located in the congested Sherbagh locality, the hospital has been forced to place beds in corridors to accommodate the influx of patients.

The hospital’s infrastructure, which is already thin, includes just two labour wards, four surgical wards, and an operation theatre to serve the growing number of patients. Hospital staff said that multiple patients often share single beds, which leads to overcrowding, noise and congestion—(KNO)

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 application process will end tomorrow, March 7, 2025, according to the National Testing Agency (NTA). Those who have not applied yet can do so on the official websiteneet.nta.nic.in.

The NTA has released a notice asking candidates to submit their applications well in advance to avoid technical glitches at the last minute. Applicants should make sure to submit their applications in time to avoid delays.

NEET UG 2025: IMPORTANT DATES

  1. Last date to register: March 7
  2. Exam date: May 4 (2 PM – 5 PM)
  3. Correction window: March 9 – 11
  4. Exam city intimation slip: April 26
  5. Admit card release: May 1
  6. Answer key release: To be announced

The application charge for NEET UG 2025 depends on the category. General category students have to pay Rs 1,700 and OBC-NCL and General-EWS category applicants have to pay Rs 1,600. For SC, ST, PwBD, and Third Gender students, application charge is Rs 1,000. For test centres outside of India, there is a need to pay Rs 9,500.

NEET UG 2025: APPLICATION PROCESS

In order to register for NEET UG 2025, applicants need to go to neet.nta.nic.in and click on the ‘NEET(UG)-2025 Registration and Online Application Form’ option. They have to register, log in, fill the form, upload documents, pay an application fee, and submit the form. Finally, they must download and preserve the confirmation page for future use.

Vahani Scholarship 2025-26: Check Eligibility Criteria

Pragati Scholarship: AICTE offers this scholarship to meritorious girls admitted to an AICTE-approved technical institution for a Degree or diploma. Under this scholarship scheme, 5000 scholarships are earmarked for first—or second-year diploma courses and 5000 scholarships for first—or second-year degree-level courses.

Saksham Scholarship: Specially-abled children get encouragement and support to pursue technical education. This scholarship is granted to both diploma and degree candidates. The scholarship amount is Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study, i.e., a maximum of 3 years for first-year admitted students and a maximum of 2 years for year-admitted students in diploma courses. For degree courses also, the scholarship amount is ₹50000/- for maximum 4 years for first year admitted students and maximum 3 years for second year admitted students through lateral entry as lump sum amount towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipments, softwares etc. No other additional grant will be payable in place of hostel charges, medical charges, etc.

Says area being developed as eco-friendly destination

Srinagar, Mar 06 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday ruled out construction of massive buildings and hotels in the Bungus Valley in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, stating that it is committed to preserving the ecological sensitivity of the area.

In a response to a question of MLA Langate, Sheikh Khursheed, the Minister in charge of the Tourism Department, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the government has focused on avoiding construction of massive buildings and hotels.

“Instead, the area is being developed as an eco-tourism destination, ensuring that tourism activities do not disrupt the valley’s pristine environment,” the minister said.

he said that the department is setting up basic recreation facilities, rain shelters, public conveniences, proper signages, lighting, and waste disposal facilities for visitors.

“To safeguard the livelihood of local shepherds, nomads, and other inhabitants of Bungus Valley, the government has initiated registration of paying guest houses in nearby areas, which not only provides an economic boost to local families but also helps in preserving and promoting the rich culture, traditions, and cuisine of the region,” he said.

The Minister informed that as of now, 19 paying guest houses have been registered with the tourism department in the vicinity of Bungus Valley—(KNO)

Jammu & Kashmir Government Forms Committee to Frame Syllabi for Lecturer Posts

JKPSC: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued an official order (Government Order No. 461-JK(Edu) of 2025) sanctioning the formation of a committee to frame syllabi for 27 different disciplines. These syllabi will be used for the recruitment of 594 Lecturer posts referred to the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission.

Committee Formation and Members

The newly constituted committee comprises key officials from the School Education Department and universities. The members include:

  1. Director, School Education, Kashmir – Chairman
  2. Director, School Education, Jammu – Member
  3. Special Secretary to the Government, School Education Department – Member
  4. Registrar, University of Kashmir – Member
  5. Registrar, University of Jammu – Member

The committee will collaborate with subject experts from the University of Jammu and the University of Kashmir to frame the required syllabi. The completed syllabi are to be submitted within one month from the issuance of this order.

Government’s Initiative for Quality Education

This move aims to streamline the recruitment process and ensure that the curriculum aligns with educational standards. The government seeks to enhance the quality of education by appointing well-qualified lecturers across various disciplines.

UPSC CAPF ACs 2025 registration begins for 357 vacancies, direct link to apply

UPSC CAPF ACs Recruitment 2025: The written test is scheduled for August 3, 2025. There will be two papers in the test.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the online registration process for the recruitment of 357 Assistant Commandants (ACs) at the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Eligible and interested candidates can apply for this recruitment drive at upsconline.gov.in up to March 25.

Tentative vacancies to be filled through this recruitment examination are:

BSF: 24 vacancies

CRPF: 204 vacancies

CISF: 92 vacancies

ITBP: 4 vacancies

SSB: 33 vacancies

Total: 357 vacancies

Admit cards will be issued on the last working day of the preceding week of the examination date at upsconline.gov.in. The written test is scheduled for August 3, 2025. There will be two papers in the test. Paper 1 will be held from 10 am to 12 pm and paper 2 will be from 2 pm to 5 pm.

The first paper will be on General Ability and Intelligence and carry 250 marks. The questions in this paper will be of objective (multiple answers) type in which the questions will be set in English and Hindi.

Paper 2 will be on General Studies, Essay and Comprehension and carry 200 marks. In this paper, candidates will be allowed the option of writing the essay component in English or Hindi, but the medium of precis writing, comprehension components and other communications/language skills will be English only.

The written examination will be followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standards Test (PST), Interview/Personality Test and Medical Standards Test.

Candidates must be at least 20 years and not more than 25 years old on August 1, 2025. This means they must have been born not earlier than August 2, 2000 and not later than August , 2005. The upper age limit prescribed will be relaxable for reserved category candidates. Check the notification here for more details.

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is the minimum educational qualification required for UPSC CAPF ACs 2025. Candidates appearing for the final degree examination will be allowed to apply provisionally. If they qualify for the PET/PST round, they will be required to prove that they have passed the qualifying examination within the prescribed time limit (as per Sub-Rules 9.1 and 9.2 of Rule 15 of CAPF (AC), Exam, 2025).

“Only valid proof of passing the qualifying examination viz. Degree Certificate/Final Mark Sheet/Provisional Degree Certificate etc. as are normally issued to the candidate by the competent authority after the formal declaration of results by the University/Boards may be accepted,” UPSC said.

“In exceptional cases, the Union Public Service Commission may treat a candidate who does not have any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate, provided that he/she has passed an examination conducted by the other Institutions, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to the examination,” it added.

“Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination,” the commission said.

Candidates who were finally selected on the basis of a previous examination will not be eligible to appear at a subsequent examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants in the participating CAPFs.

The application fee is ₹200 and it is exempted for female/SC/ST candidates.
