Srinagar, Nov 16 (KNO): Following the recent tragic road accidents in Srinagar and elsewhere in Kashmir that claimed several lives, the transport authorities in Kashmir conducted an extensive crackdown on traffic violations across the region.

In a statement issued by the office of RTO Kashmir to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the one-day enforcement drive inspected 2,338 vehicles, ranging from school buses and goods carriers to private cars.

Among these, 586 violators were penalized for offences like driving without helmets and seat belts, overloading passengers, and lacking fitness or insurance certificates.

Authorities seized 11 vehicles and imposed fines totalling Rs 7.98 lakh.

Srinagar topped the list with Rs 2.22 lakh in fines, followed by Kulgam and Ganderbal, reflecting significant enforcement efforts in these districts.

Regional Transport Officer, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari called for a united approach, urging teachers, community leaders, and religious figures to advocate for road safety and compliance with traffic rules.

The department aims to instil a culture of responsibility among citizens to create safer roads for all, he said.

Officials stated that traffic violators will face strict consequences, while compliant citizens play a vital role in ensuring safer travel across Kashmir—(KNO)

Traffic advisory for motorists in rural Kashmir amid snowfall, slippery roads

Srinagar, Nov 16: In view of the ongoing snowfall and slippery road condition in Kashmir’s hilly areas, traffic police has issued advisory for motorists.

According to the advisory, a copy of which lies with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) only 4X4 vehicles and those equipped with anti-skid chains, with a seating capacity of no more than 10 seats, will be allowed on specific hilly roads.

The advisory stated that these roads include Tangmarg-Gulmarg, Mughal Road, Zojila, Sinthon, Gurez-Bandipora, Pahalgam-Chandanwari, Kupwara-Karnah, and Kupwara-Machil.

“To prevent traffic jams and delays, only registered anti-skid chain vendors will be permitted to install chains at designated locations along these routes. Motorists are urged to park only in designated parking areas. Strict action will be taken against those found parking on the roadside, as it can obstruct traffic flow and cause accidents,” it reads.

It added that vehicles with invalid documents will not be allowed to travel on these hilly roads to avoid any incidents.

The authorities urged drivers to comply with these guidelines for their own safety and smooth movement of traffic—(KNO)

This one-time exemption, as per Circular No. 06-JK (Edu) of 2024 dated 19-09-2024, applies to the academic sessions 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Eleven banks have notified 6,148 vacancies which will be filled through IBPS Clerk 2024. The participating banks are: Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Indian Bank and Punjab & Sind Bank.

Call letters for the Prelims round will be issued in August 2024, and the online prelims exam is tentatively scheduled for the same month. The result of the Prelims test is expected in September, and the Mains exam is expected to take place in October. The provisional allotment has been tentatively scheduled for April, 2025.

IBPS Clerk 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Age limit

On July 1, 2024, the applicant must be at least 20 years old and not more than 28 years old. In other words, the applicant should be born between July 2, 1996 and July 1, 2004 (both days inclusive). Relaxation in the upper age limit will be applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Educational qualification

A graduation degree in any discipline is required to apply for the Clerk vacancies at these banks. Additionally, operating and working knowledge of computer systems is mandatory. To prove this, the candidates must have a certificate or diploma or degree in computer operations/language or should have studied Computer or Information Technology as one of the subjects in high school or college.

Further, the candidates must have proficiency in the official language of the state/UT in which they want to apply.

Apart from having the qualifications, the candidates must also maintain a healthy credit history at the time of joining.

The minimum credit score will be as per the policy of the participating banks and those without an updated CIBIL status at the time of joining have to either get it updated or produce NOCs from lenders proving that there is no outstanding with respect to the accounts adversely reflected in the CIBIL. The letter of offer may be withdrawn/cancelled if a candidate fails to do this, the IBPS said.

IBPS Clerk 2024: About prelims exam

The IBPS Clerk Prelims exam will consist of 100 questions for 100 marks. Candidates will have 60 minutes to attempt the paper.

The question paper will be divided into three sections – English Language (30 questions for 30 marks), Numerical Ability (35 questions for 35 marks) and Reasoning Ability (35 questions, 30 marks).

Candidates must qualify in each of the three sections of the Prelims examination by securing the cut-off marks, which will be decided by the institute.
