Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNO): The University of Kashmir (KU) Wednesday announced winter break for main and its satellite campuses January-01 to February-23.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), KU’s Joint Registrar in a notification said, “The teaching departments of the university and its satellite campuses shall observe winter vacations from January-01-2025 to February-23-2025.”

“However, the Departmental offices shall function normally and the heads, directors and coordinators of the Department of satellite campuses and centers shall ensure that the examinations if any, and other activities are conducted as per schedule,” it reads.

It also said, “Further, remedial classes including offline or online mode shall be conducted by the departments to complete the remaining syllabus, if any, during the period of winter break.”—(KNO)

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Main Campus Shalimar Srinagar, has officially announced a 40-day winter break for all students across its faculties and colleges. This decision has been communicated through University Order No. 17 (Acad.) of 2024, dated December 16, 2024.

Key Highlights of the Order

  1. Winter Break Dates:
    • The winter break will commence on December 21, 2024, and conclude on January 29, 2025.
  2. Examinations During the Break:
    • Ongoing examinations already scheduled will proceed as planned according to the existing timetable. Students appearing for exams are not exempted from attending during the winter break until their examinations are completed.
  3. Coursework Completion:
    • Faculties/colleges may conduct leftover course work online as per the schedule issued by respective departments.
  4. Hostel Facilities:
    • Hostels will remain closed during the break, except for:
      • Master’s/Ph.D. students availing hostel facilities for laboratory or research work.
      • Research work must be certified/authenticated by the Major Advisor, HoD, and the Warden.
  5. End-Term Examination Schedule:
    • The end-term examinations for the Autumn Semester 2024, previously scheduled for January 20, 2025, to February 3, 2025, have been rescheduled.
    • The examinations will now be conducted from February 3, 2025, to February 20, 2025.
  6. Monitoring and Cleanliness:
    • The Directorate of Education, SKUAST-K, will oversee smooth conduct of academic programs during the vacation period.

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBoSE) has officially issued a notification regarding the de-notification of certain schools from Hard Zone Areas. As per the directive, the annual regular examinations for these schools will now be conducted following the schedule of Soft Zone Areas.

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released the selection list for the post of Panchayat Secretary under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. The posts were advertised under Notification No. 03 of 2022, dated May 26, 2022, with item numbers ranging from 059 to 077.

The selection list has been forwarded to the concerned Indenting Department through Letter No. JKSSB-Scry/3/2024-03 (E-7402474), dated May 27, 2024, for further necessary action.
