“Ehsaas Foundation extends lifeline to Purkhoo fire victims, Bringing aid and hope to displaced Families”

Srinagar: The Fire at Purkhoo camp engulfed everything that for decades the Kashmiri pandits had accumulated here in Jammu, everything they possessed after years.

Displaced and traumatized families lost whatever little they saved from the blaze. From the ashes, hope reared its head. The Ehsaas Foundation, an NGO based in Srinagar, did not back down to this challenge. Relief camps at Bohri Kadal were initiated, and volunteers from every nook and cranny surfaced.

Food and more food, blankets, and clothing, the feeling that they are not alone to lose everything all over again. What greater comfort over the physical support is knowing that they are not only to lose everything, and what the foundation assisted with were these things.

It is more than helping them. It is letting them realize that they are being watched and cared for and not forgotten.

Volunteers Zahoor Malik and Burhan Nazir said, “It has shaken us deep. Sometimes it feels like we are putting a bandage on a wound that would never stop bleeding; all we could do is give them a respite.”

Relief at Purkhoo Camp is not food and groceries, but the strength to face tomorrow. That is what it feels like in a world they claim to have let them down several times.

And then relief camps become symbols of unity and resilience in a strife-torn Kashmir that shows here that in Kashmir, amid ashes of hate, compassion remains.

Major Police Transfers Ordered in Shopian District to Boost Operational Efficiency

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the District Police Headquarters in Shopian has issued an order for the immediate transfer of several police personnel across various stations in the district. The transfers, approved by the Police Establishment Board of Shopian, aim to enhance operational effectiveness and address strategic requirements in different locations.

The transfer order includes the following personnel:

1. Inspector Sheikh Sameer Altaf (Belt No. EXK109565) has been reassigned from SIU Shopian to IC PP Keegam, in addition to his existing duties.
2. SI (Now Inspector) Shabir Ahmad (Belt No. ARP109350) has been transferred from IC SSP QRT Shopian to SHO P/S Zainapora.
3. SI (Now Inspector) Shahnawaz Ahmad (Belt No. EXK983486) has been moved from DPL Shopian to SHO P/S Imamsahib.
4. SI (Now Inspector) Ab Ahad (Belt No. EXK911251) will now serve as IC PP Wachi, having been transferred from IC PP Berthipora.
5. SI Bashir Ahmad (Belt No. 14/STC, EXK962007) is reassigned from IC PP Saidpora to IC PP Hermain (Alamgunj).
6. SI Showkat Ali (Belt No. ARP871658) has been transferred from P/S Keller to IC PP Saidpora Reshnagri.
7. PSI Javaid Maqbool (Belt No. EXK195750) has been reassigned from IC PP Wachi to IC SOG Camp Gagran.
8. PSI Qaiser Maqbool Peer (Belt No. EXK196170) has moved from IC PP Hermain to IC SOG Camp Zainapora.
9. PSI Iqbal Razak Dar (Belt No. EXK195755) is transferred from DPL Shopian to IC SOG Camp Imamsahib.
10. ASI Bashir Ahmad (Belt No. 14/SPN, EXK922151) will now serve in P/S Keller, previously stationed at DPL Shopian.
11. ASI Showkeen Ahmad (Belt No. 187/SPN, EXK971616) is moving from P/S Keller to IC PP Berthipora.
12. SgCt. Ab Hamid (Belt No. 323/SPN, EXK106124) has been reassigned from DPL Shopian to serve as PSO with Mudasir Farooq, Secretary of DLSA Shopian.

Weather Update for Jammu & Kashmir: Dry Spell Expected with Light Rain and Snow in North Kashmir on 11th November

The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather forecast for the Jammu and Kashmir region, predicting generally dry weather over the next ten days, with only a slight possibility of light rain and snow in higher reaches of North Kashmir on 11th November.

Detailed Forecast:

• 5th – 10th November: Predominantly dry conditions are expected, allowing for clear skies and mild weather across the region.
• 11th November: There is a possibility of very light rain and light snow over a few high-altitude areas in North Kashmir. However, precipitation is expected to be minimal and should not significantly affect daily life or agricultural operations.
• 12th – 15th November: Dry weather is anticipated to return, with stable conditions continuing through the middle of the month.

Agricultural Advisory:

In light of the mostly dry weather, the Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory for farmers in the region:

• Farmers are advised to proceed with harvesting and ensure safe storage of harvested crops to avoid any losses.
• Other agricultural operations can continue uninterrupted, given the expected dry spell.
• Early mornings and late evenings may bring mist or shallow fog in the plains of Kashmir, reducing visibility. Commuters and farmers working in early hours are advised to exercise caution.

This forecast indicates a relatively calm and stable period for the region, with no significant weather events expected until at least the 15th of November.
