UPSC Civil Services Main 2025 Personality Test Rescheduled; Revised Date Announced

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially rescheduled the Personality Test (Interview) for the Civil Services Main Examination 2025 (CSE-Mains 2025) for a select group of candidates. The change comes in light of administrative adjustments linked to Republic Day preparations in New Delhi.

Why the Change?

The interview session originally scheduled for January 22, 2026 (Afternoon Session) has been deferred due to the early closure of government offices on that day because of the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day Parade 2026. This rehearsal requires extensive planning and logistical arrangements in central government areas, impacting official work schedules and UPSC operations.

Revised Interview Date

Affected candidates will now appear for their Personality Test on:

➡️ Friday, February 27, 2026 – Forenoon Session.

This revised schedule applies only to those candidates who were allotted the afternoon interview on January 22. Other sessions of the ongoing Personality Test — part of the final stage of the Civil Services recruitment process — continue as planned.

Personality Test Schedule Overview

According to the UPSC’s official interview schedule, the Personality Test for CSE-Mains 2025 began in December 2025, with the first phase covering a batch of candidates. The remaining portion of the interview programme is being conducted through January and February 2026, with the final sessions concluding on February 27.

Reporting Time and Instructions

Candidates appearing for the Personality Test should observe the reporting times as specified in their e-summon letters:

  • Forenoon Session: 9:00 AM
  • Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM

The commission has also reminded aspirants to carry all essential documents and certificates for identity verification and eligibility.

Travel Allowance for Candidates

UPSC has stated that travelling expenses for eligible shortlisted candidates will be reimbursed. This reimbursement is limited to second-class or sleeper-class train fare, and claim forms must be filled and submitted along with journey tickets as per UPSC guidelines for Travelling Allowance (TA).

UPSC CSE 2026 Notification Status

In addition to the interview rescheduling, the UPSC’s Civil Services Examination 2026 notification has been postponed from its original release date of January 14, 2026, due to administrative reasons. The notification — which includes details on the exam schedule, eligibility criteria, syllabus, and application process — is now expected to be issued soon on the UPSC official website.

Once released, eligible candidates will be able to complete the online application process and begin preparations for the Preliminary Examination, likely scheduled for May 24, 2026, as per the current UPSC calendar.

Over 45% Power Restored After Gusty Winds Damage Lines, Poles in Qazigund: AEE KPDCL

Men and machinery on job; full restoration likely by evening if weather remains favourable

Kulgam, Jan 23: Gusty winds accompanied by snowfall caused widespread disruption of electricity supply across the Qazigund belt, plunging several areas into darkness since Thursday.

Officials of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said restoration work is underway, with nearly 45 per cent of power supply restored so far.

Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), KPDCL Sub-Division Qazigund, Waseem Mustafa, said field teams are working round the clock despite harsh weather conditions.

“Our men are on the job and around 45 per cent of electricity has been restored in the Qazigund belt,” he said.

He said power supply has already been restored in parts of Mirbazar and Vessu, while a major fault caused by a puncture in the 33 KV cable on the Qazigund side is still being attended to. “Men and machinery are on the spot to rectify the damage. Once the 33 KV line is restored, electricity supply will be fully resumed across Qazigund,” he added.

The AEE expressed hope that if weather conditions remain favourable, complete restoration of power supply is likely by evening. (KNC)

Intense Snowstorm Hits Kashmir; Several Areas Record Up to Five Feet of Snow Within Just 15 Hours

An intense and short-lived snowstorm swept across parts of Kashmir, delivering exceptionally heavy snowfall in a very compressed 15-hour window, turning the episode into one of the most aggressive winter events of the season.
Regions closer to the Pir Panjal range were the worst affected. Plains of Shopian district recorded 1.5 to 3 feet of snow, while higher reaches of Shopian saw accumulations reaching up to five feet — an extraordinary amount for such a brief spell.

The storm’s impact extended beyond Shopian, affecting parts of Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam, Kupwara, and Baramulla districts as well. In higher elevations across these areas, snow accumulation ranged between 2 and 5 feet, all occurring within the same short duration.

Snowfall Shuts Jammu–Srinagar Highway, Flights Cancelled, Halts Train Services

Snowfall Shuts Jammu–Srinagar Highway, 17 Flights Cancelled at Srinagar Airport

Banihal–Baramulla rail section suspended; Mughal, Sonamarg and Sinthan roads closed

Srinagar, Jan 23 : Traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was suspended in both directions on Friday morning following fresh snowfall in and around the Navyug Tunnel, officials said.

They said the Kashmir Valley witnessed fresh snowfall since late last night, severely impacting road, rail and air connectivity.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that vehicular movement between Jammu and Srinagar was halted after snow accumulation rendered the highway unsafe for travel.

“In addition to NH-44, the Mughal Road, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Road were also closed due to fresh snowfall,” the official said.

Officials advised commuters to avoid travelling on the affected routes until snow clearance operations are completed and the roads are declared safe. “We urge the public not to pay heed to rumours and to verify the latest road status through official Traffic Police channels,” an official added.

Regarding air connectivity, at least 17 flights to and from Srinagar Airport were cancelled due to ongoing snowfall and adverse weather conditions, officials said, adding that more cancellations were likely as snowfall continued to disrupt flight operations. The affected flights included services connecting Srinagar with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Jammu.

Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules.

Additionally, rail services on the Banihal–Baramulla section were suspended after authorities cancelled several passenger trains due to heavy snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.—(KNO)
