Counseling for successful NEET candidates to start within a fortnight in J&K

Jammu, Aug 01 (KNO):nThe wait for the successful candidates of NEET examination is almost over as the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) is all set to call for counseling of candidates.

The counseling is expected to start within a fortnight’s time and after which colleges, as per the preferences, will be allotted to the candidates.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), after the Supreme Court gave go ahead to the candidates who qualified the NEET, now the things have to move in BOPEE so that colleges will be allotted. The J&K BOPEE has to issue the notification of dates for counseling of the candidates and successful NEET candidates will have to fill their preferences after which colleges will be allotted.

In this regard a meet of BOPEE officials is expected to be held tomorrow where the dates will be finalized and notification will be issued accordingly.

“Already things are running late due to issues at the top level. Now, when everything is clear, soon counseling will be held. There are several steps like issuing notification and providing a period to candidates to get information, which are also part of counseling. Before the final counseling, everything has to be in order so that candidates get all the time to complete formalities,” Minu Mahajan, J&K BOPEE chairperson told KNO.

She said that it is expected that within a fortnight’s time formal counseling of candidates should begin.

For the last few years, the number of seats for MBBS in Jammu and Kashmir has increased but still candidates with high merit go for colleges like GMC Srinagar, GMC Jammu and SKIMS Srinagar whereas those who don’t fall in the merit get new colleges—(KNO)

KPDCL set to install meters on 40,000 DTs, 1400 Feeders for reliable power supply

Will facilitate real-time monitoring of electrical system, address load and voltage unbalancing

Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNO): In order to protect distribution transformers (DTs) from damage and curb power losses, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is installing 40,000 DT meters & 1400 feeder meters under the premier loss reduction scheme of RDSS.

This shall be besides 6.85 lakh consumer smart meters which shall be installed in unmetered flat-rate areas as well those areas where conventional meters have been installed in Kashmir Division over the next 27 months.

Giving details in a press release issued here today, a KPDCL spokesperson stated that DT & Feeder metering shall facilitate real-time monitoring of electrical system, paving the way for reliable power supply to the consumers by way of remote monitoring of load and voltage unbalancing. “Installation of feeder meters shall help us in better load forecasting and relay information regarding duration and interruptions in electricity supply in digital mode,” he added.

340 feeders have already been integrated with National Feeder Monitoring System (NFMS) while the rest of the feeders will be covered under RDSS.

In a big relief to domestic consumers, living in flat-rate areas and areas where conventional/ non-communicating meters are installed, to cut down on their consumer bills, Kashmir DISCOM is set to install 6.85 lakh smart meters under RDSS to give option of digital monitoring of their consumption and daily billing trajectory to the consumers. “All these smart meters will be prepaid-enabled and will provide more accurate and real-time consumption details, ushering in a new era of uninterrupted and quality power supply,” he said, adding consumers will be able to check energy consumed on their mobile phones.

KPDCL spokesman further stated that the executing agency is under process of formulation of Project Implementation Plan for smart metering in uncovered areas. “Already under PMDP, over 3.00 lakh smart meters have been installed with nearly 1.20 lakh meters operating in prepaid mode, giving consumers the opportunity to monitor their daily consumption and billing options,” he added—(KNO)

Srinagar, August 1, 2024 – The Higher Education Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced an extension for the registration deadline for undergraduate programs for the academic year 2024-2025. The new deadline for both CUET and Non-CUET registrations is now set to 07-08-2024.

This extension applies to all Government Degree Colleges across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, providing prospective students additional time to complete their applications. Students are encouraged to visit the official admission portal at (https://jkadmission.samarth.ac.in) to register.

For any assistance, students are advised to visit their nearest college.

ACB arrests Patwari for accepting bribe of Rs 5000 in Anantnag

Srinagar, Aug 01 (KNO): Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday said to have trapped and arrested Patwari Halqa Fatehpora, District Anantnag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 for issuing revenue records.

As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), J&K Anti Corrupting Bureau received a complaint alleging therein that Mohammad Ayoub Hajam, Patwari, Halqa Fatehpora is demanding Rs 9000 as bribe for issuing certified copy of online mutation in respect of land which the wife of complainant had purchased in the month of February this year. However after negotiation the amount was settled as Rs 5000.

“The complainant chose not to pay bribe and instead approached Anti Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the accused Patwari as provided under law,” the statement reads.

On receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted which confirms the demand by the said Patwari and accordingly a case under FIR number 04/2024 under section 7 of P/C Act 1988 was registered in PS ACB Anantnag and investigation was taken up.

“During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught Patwari namely Mohammad Ayoub Hajam S/o Mohammad Ramzan R/o Vessu, District Anantnag red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team. The bribe amount was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team,” the statement reads, adding that further investigation of the instant case is going on—(KNO)

SSC MTS 2024 vacancies increased to 9583, last date to apply extended on ssc.gov.in

SSC MTS 2024: The total number of vacancies for SSC MTS and Havaldar examination now stands at 9,583 (3,439 for Havaldar and 6,144 for MTS).

SSC MTS 2024: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has informed that the number of Multi Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) vacancies to be filled through SSC MTS 2024 has been increased to 6,144 from the previously notified 4,887 vacancies. Along with the 3,439 Havaldar in CIBC and CBN vacancies, the total number now stands at 9,583. The notification can be checked on ssc.gov.in

Through a separate notification, the commission informed that the last date to apply for SSC MTS and Havaldar examination, 2024 has been extended to August 3, 2024. Previously, the deadline was July 31.

SSC MTS 2024: Notification on application deadline extension

The extension of the application deadline has led to modification of the cut-off date for determining eligibility conditions such as educational qualification and age limit. As per the recent announcement of the commission, the cut-off date for ascertaining eligibility will be now treated as August 3 instead of August 1.

However, the window for application correction – August 16 to 17 (11 pm) – will remain unchanged, the commission said.

The computer-based examination for SSC MTS and Havaldar is tentatively scheduled for October-November 2024. The detailed timetable will be announced later.

SSC MTS 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Age limit: To apply for the MTS vacancies, a candidate must be at least 18 and not more than 25 years old as on August 3 (as per the revised cut-off date).

For Havaldar vacancies, the age limit of candidates should be between 18 and 27 years as on August 3.

Relaxation in the upper age limit has been provided to reserved category candidates.

Educational qualification: A candidate needs to pass the Class 10 (Matriculation) examination or its equivalent examination from a recognised board on or before August 3.

SSC MTS 2024: About application fee and selection process

Candidates need to pay 100 as application fee for SSC MTS 2024. The application fee has been exempted for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Exservicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation.

To shortlist candidates, the commission will hold a Computer-Based Examination (CBE).

Those who have applied for Havaldar vacancies will have to appear for Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) after clearing the CBE round.
