‘Many students discontinue studies owing of financial difficulties, lack of access, guidance’

Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNO): Owing to the financial difficulties, lack of access and guidance, many students prefer to discontinue their studies after qualifying the board exams of 10th standard.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the district administration Poonch had said that it has observed that many students do not seek admissions because of financial problems.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary in a circular said, “It has been observed that every year many students who pass out of class 10th standard do not seek admission to class 11th due to many reasons such as financial difficulties, lack of access and guidance and hence result in them dropping out of studies.”

“It is particularly noticed that students from low income homes dropout became pressured to work to support their families,” he said.

The DC further said that in view of these issues, Chief Education Officer, Poonch and all the Zonal Education Officers shall carry out an exercise and prepare a zone wise data of students who have passed Class 10th but have not taken admission in Class 11th in the current ongoing admission drive.

“Furthermore, the local Principals of Higher Secondary School shall make sustained efforts in ensuring that the dropout student is extended all possible financial and other assistance to continue their studies,” it reads—(KNO)

Srinagar, July 12 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday accorded sanction to the creation of Public Grievances department in the Union Territory.

According to an order, a copy which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in pursuance of Entry 15 of the Second Schedule of
Transaction of Business of the Government of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, notified vide Government Order No. 811-JK(GAD) of 2020, dated 01.09.2020, sanction is hereby accorded to the creation of “Department of Public Grievances”.

The order states that the department will deal with the redressal of Public Grievances, Lieutenant Governor’s Mulaqaat – Live Public Grievance Hearing

It will also deal with Jammu and Kashmir Integrated Grievance Redress and Monitoring System – JK-IGRAMS, monitoring disposal of grievances by Administrative Departments and subordinate offices, grievance Redressal Quality Monitoring and monitoring of redressal of grievances received on social media.

“”It is further ordered that Lieutenant Governor’s Grievance Cell shall be subsumed in the Department of Public Grievances, Staff provided in the Lieutenant Governor’s Grievance Cell by the General Administration Department shall work in the Department of Public Grievances till posting of permanent staff and requirement of staff, if any, on account of creation of the Department of Public Grievances, shall be met through internal adjustment and there shall be no fresh creation of posts in this regard,” reads the order—(KNO)

Pulwama, July 12 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Wednesday said that the government is working to solve the long pending issues of daily wagers and that every inch of waqf land grabbed by anyone will be retrieved soon.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) in Pulwama, she said that government is working to solve issues of daily wagers and hopefully their issues will be solved soon.

She also said that every inch of Waqf land that has been occupied or grabbed illegally by anyone will soon be retrieved.

To a query about the Opposition Unity, she said that there is no fun without a challenge and they know that BJP has worked for the welfare of the people, which is why they are coming together.

She also said that preparations regarding Parliament and Urban Local Body elections are going on. She, however, denied to comment about holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)

Srinagar, Jul 11 (KNO): In a momentous occasion and a leap towards mobile governance (m-governance), the Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta Tuesday launched the path breaking Mobile Dost App in sync with the vision of Apka Mobile HamaraDaftar, a pioneering initiative for mobile-based delivery of citizen-centric services in J&K.

This remarkable event marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of the region, bringing unparalleled convenience and accessibility to the residents of Jammu & Kashmir in terms of mobility in accessing online services.

The Mobile Dost App aims at empowering people of Jammu & Kashmir by providing a comprehensive platform to access all the Government to citizen Services (G2C) directly from their mobile devices. With just a few taps, residents can now effortlessly avail themselves of numerous services, enhancing their daily lives and fostering an efficient, effective and transparent governance system.

While launching, Mobile Dost app, the Chief Secretary expressed his satisfaction stating, “this revolutionary app signifies a significant step towards a digitally empowered Jammu & Kashmir”.

He further added that the administration is committed to providing seamless, citizen-centric services to its residents, fostering ease in accessibility, mobility, transparency and efficiency in governance. With the Mobile Dost App, we aim to enhance accessibility and convenience, ensuring that every individual can benefit from government services at their fingertips, he added.

On the occasion, Dr Mehta congratulated the IT Department and thanked the Government of Haryana for their support in the development of the mobile application. He expressed hope that ‘Mobile Dost’ would enhance the accessibility and inclusiveness of government service delivery in sync with the vision of ‘Apka Mobile HamaraDaftar’.

Umashankar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Haryana and Principal Secretary, Citizen Resources Information Department to Haryana Government joined the launch virtually and congratulated the UT J&K for the milestone achievement. He assured the Chief Secretary of whole-hearted support of the State of Haryana for replication of IT initiatives and sharing of State’s best practices.
While providing details about the application , the Commissioner Secretary, IT, PrernaPuri revealed that more than 450 Govt to Citizen services including application for certificates, licenses, and permits, registration of grievances, and accessing various welfare schemes can be done seamlessly through the mobile devices by virtue of this application.

It was made out that in times of crisis, individuals can swiftly connect with emergency helplines such as police, fire, medical, and disaster management services, ensuring rapid response and assistance during emergencies.

The app also provides detailed information about government tenders, enabling entrepreneurs and businesses to stay informed about opportunities and actively participate in the region’s development.

Moreover it has additional features like provision for Bill payment, travel & tourism related information, links to apply for jobs, news updates, information about significant events, and directory of important contacts for the public.

It was said that the Mobile DostApkaDost App is now available for download on Android and very soon the iOS version of the app will be available on iOS platforms.

The government encourages all residents of J&K to embrace this technological marvel and join the journey towards a progressive and prosperous future.
