J&K Government Extends Workdays and Hours in Medical and Dental Colleges to Boost Patient Care

Govt extends working days, duty hours in GMCs, GDCs of J&K

Srinagar, April 04 : In order to improve patient care, Health and Medical Education Department has extended working days and hours in all Government Medical and Dental colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an order, a copy of which lies with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) new reporting time in GMCs and GDCs will be 9 am while relieving time will be 5 pm on all days except Saturday.

“In order to improve patient care, 9 am will be reporting and 5 pm will be relieving time on weekdays with half an hour lunch break from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm on all days except Saturday in all government medical and dental colleges of J&K,” reads an order.

The order states that on Saturdays reporting time shall be 9 am and relieving time will be 1:30 pm—(KNO)

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has announced the results of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Examination 2023. The commission has also released a list of candidates who have been qualified for medical examination.

The JKPSC had advertised 69 posts of Civil Judge (Junior Division) through a notification issued in August 2023. A total of 3266 candidates appeared in the preliminary examination which was conducted on October 8, 2023. Out of these, 1162 candidates qualified for the mains examination which was held from November 8 to November 20, 2023.

As per the criteria fixed by the commission, 208 candidates were declared to have qualified for the interview. The viva-voce of these candidates was conducted from March 19 to April 3, 2024, at the JKPSC Office in Jammu.

The commission has decided to declare the result of the candidates who appeared in the interview by notifying their aggregate marks while publishing a list of the candidates to be summoned for medical examination.

Srinagar- Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has once again said that the Shawwal moon is likely to be seen on April 9 in the region.

While predicting the rise of Eid-ul-Fitr moon, the department said the moon would conjunct with the sun on April 8 at 11:21pm (local time). On April 9, the age of the moon will be 19 to 20 hours. It will be visible to the naked eye for about 50 minutes after sunset and the first of Shawwal will be on April 10. “The Met Office forecast that in the southern regions of the country the sky will likely be clear, while the sky could be cloudy in the northern regions’”, it said, according to media reports.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, has also talked about the possibility of 29-day Ramazan based on scientific findings.Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramazan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In 2024, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall around April 10th or April 11th. DSEK Establishes Committee to Verify Complaints Against Private Schools

DSEK constitutes committee to authenticate complaints against Pvt schools

Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): Two days after the commencement of a new academic session, Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Wednesday constituted a committee to verify the complaints against private schools here.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DSEK in an order said that it has been sanctioned to constitute a committee to verify different complaints against private schools in Kashmir division being frequently received at different quarters and appearing on the social media platforms.

DSEK said that the concerned chief education officer, cluster heads and zonal education officers shall verify the complaint against the schools recognised by School Education Department and affiliated with JKBOSE.

It also said that the concerned Chief Education Officer, deputy CEO, and one senior most principal to be nominated by CEO concerned shall verify the complaints against the schools affiliated with CBSE.

“The committees constituted shall monitor the private educational institutions and submit reports and recommendations thereof as per J&K School Education Act-2002 to DSEK on fortnightly basis,” it reads.

Earlier this week, the Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee of Private Schools (FFRC) has said that the private schools were charging fees retrospectively for the months in which students have not availed any services from the institute.

The committee accordingly warned the private schools not to charge fee retrospectively for the period a student has not been on the rolls of school.

On March-21, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) warned private schools of strict actions for charging prohibited capitation charges from students.

Tassaduq Hussain Mir, the director of school education had said this during the sidelines of an event “Schools will face action who will charge admission or miscellaneous charges.”

He also said that the department had already issued a circular in this regard and are monitoring the situation closely—(KNO)

Weak WD affects J&K, Gurez receives fresh snowfall, rains lash plains

Srinagar, Apr 03 (KNO): As a weak Western Disturbance (WD) affected Jammu & Kashmir, a few areas in the higher reaches received fresh snowfall while the rains lashed plains of the valley on Wednesday.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora area and its adjacent places received fresh snowfall today.

The rains however, lashed plains of Kashmir including the summer capital of J&K, Srinagar in the later afternoon hours, bringing down the mercury here.

Against yesterday’s 214 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature in Srinagar settled at 17.1 degree Celsius today, the officials in the Meteorological department (MeT) said.

The maximum temperature also plummeted in other places including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Qazigund, Kokernag, Kupwara and other areas compared to yesterday.

Meanwhile, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad however, stated that the weather conditions will improve by tomorrow and there is a forecast of generally dry weather on April 04.

Furthermore, he stated that the partly cloudy with light rain and snow is expected at isolated places on April 05th.

He added that according to the forecast, the weather would remain generally dry from April 06-April 10.

The Meteorological department has also issued an advisory for the farmers, asking them to resume farm operation except on April 03 and April 05—(KNO)
