University of Kashmir postpones interviews for lecturer positions

The University of Kashmir has announced that the interviews for the positions of Contractual Lecturer, Physics and Mathematics for the Institute of Technology, Zakura Campus and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, North Campus, Delina, Baramulla have been postponed.

The interviews were originally scheduled to be held on February 21, 2024, but have now been postponed. Fresh dates for the interviews will be issued separately.

J&K NHM Recruitment 2024: Check Eligibility, Vacancies, Application form

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kupwara has released a corrigendum regarding the advertisement notification for various posts under the National Health Mission (NHM). The corrigendum clarifies the qualification and selection criteria for the post of Dialysis Technician.

As per the corrigendum, the earlier notification mentioned that the qualification for the post of Dialysis Technician was B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology/10+2 with Science and Diploma in Dialysis. However, the new corrigendum states that the qualification is now M.Sc./B.Sc. Medical Technology or M.Sc./B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology or 10+2 with Science and Diploma in Dialysis from a government-recognized institute.

The age limit for the post remains the same at 45 years.

The selection criteria for the post has also been changed. As per the earlier notification, the selection criteria was 80% weightage for written test and 20% weightage for viva voce. However, the new corrigendum states that the selection criteria will now be 40% weightage for screening test, 40% weightage for academic qualification, and 20% weightage for viva voce.

The corrigendum also clarifies that the other terms and conditions as contained in the advertisement notification remain the same.

The corrigendum has been issued due to an error in the earlier notification. The CMO has apologized for any inconvenience caused to the candidates.

Teachers to attend schools from Feb-21: Admin Secretary

No question of rescheduling the date for reopening of schools: Piyush Singla

Srinagar, Feb 20 (KNO): Amid inclement weather conditions, School Education Department Tuesday clarified that there will be no rescheduling for reopening of schools for teachers and students.

Administrative Secretary School Education Department, Piyush Singla informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the scheduled date for reopening of schools for teachers and students remains stand.

“There is no question of extending the winter vacations for teaching staff,” he said.

Singla clarified that the teaching staff shall report back to their respective schools on February-21.

Pertinently, in November-2023, School Education Department had announced closure of schools in a phased manner in Kashmir division from November-28-2023 to February-29-2024.

For primary level classes up to 8th standard, the vacations were announced from November-28 to February-29-2024.

However, from 9th standard onwards upto 12th standard, the vacations were announced from December-11 to February-29-2024 respectively.

The School Education Department had ordered that the teaching staff shall report back to their respective schools on February-21-2024, so that they remain available for making arrangements regarding preparation of ensuing examinations—(KNO)

KPDCL gears up amidst heavy snowfall, 115 (96%) out of 120 (33 kV) feeders up

Srinagar, Feb 20 (KNO): Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Mussarat Islam, Tuesday said that KPDCLs frontline workers are fully geared up in post-snow restoration works, even as heavy snow has caused disruptions especially in North Kashmir districts and some parts of South Kashmir.

In a statement released to the press today afternoon, the MD said five 33 kV feeders out of 120 are presently under fault, while 76 out of 1118 HT 11 kV feeders are down, in view of heavy snowfall in parts of Electric Divisions Handwara, Baramulla & Kupwara, where damage to power infrastructure due to heavy snowfall has also been reported.

“Five 33 kV feeders under fault have been reported from North Kashmir districts of Kupwara and Baramulla. Efforts are on to restore the feeders under fault, but the same would require road connectivity especially in those districts where upper reaches have been cut off due to snow,” he said, urging consumers residing in these areas to exercise patience.

The statement added that 33 kV Gurez line has been charged partially while as 33 kV tap lines Keran, Machhil and Tangdar is under fault. Similarly, 33 kV Wanpoh-Qazigund line is also charged partially.

In 11 kV category, 39 out of the 76 feeders are under fault in Baramulla and Kupwara Districts, while as 12 in Budgam, 08 in Shopian-Pulwama. 05 feeders each are under fault in Srinagar and Anantnag-Pulwama districts, the statement added.

He further stated that all feeders in capital city Srinagar are operational, along with majority of the 11 kV feeders in other districts like Ganderbal, Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam and Shopian.

MD KPDCL also directed SEs of O&M Circles and Executive Engineers of all Electric & STD Divisions to personally monitor restoration measures following heavy snowfall. He also emphasized upon the Subdivisional Officers to ensure that the field workers take all safety measures by using safety gadgets (PPE) like helmets, gloves, harness belts, and using earthing roads while restoring power supply.

Presently, all Executive Engineers of Sub Transmission Division in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Sopore, Bijbehara are monitoring the status of Receiving Stations across Kashmir Division, the statement added.

MD urged the consumers to follow KPDCL’s official media handles to get regular updates about restoration works currently underway. He said the figures will be updated in the evening and shared on its official social media platforms—(KNO)

Now there is nothing major is expected, however during next 12hrs intermittent light/moderate intensity Snowfall expected over some parts of Kashmir especially south Kashmir & light to moderate snow over higher reaches of Jammu.

Srinagar Islamic College postpones UG 6th semester exams

Srinagar, Feb 20: The Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC) has announced the postponement of the UG 6th semester (batch 2020 backlog) exams which were earlier scheduled to be held on February 21, 2024.

The new exam date is February 24, 2024. The college has also postponed all internal/practical/continuous assessment examinations scheduled for February 21, 2024. New dates for these exams will be communicated to the students by the respective departments.
