Whereas, the cut-off date ie. the last date for applying for these posts and determining the eligibility/academic qualification and category certificates of the candidates, was 19.10.2022; and

Whereas, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) advertised the aforesaid 30 posts among other posts of Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) vide Advertisement Notification No. 05 of 2021 dated 09.09.2022; and

Whereas, as per the Notification, the selection to these posts was to be made on the basis of Written Examination only and, accordingly, the JKSSB conducted the Computer Based Test (CBT) for these posts on 07.02.2023 and the result for these posts was declared on 31.05.2023 vide Notification No. JKSSB-COEOEXAM(UT)/06/2023-04 (7110979). Thereafter, on the basis of merit obtained by the candidates, the Document Verification was conducted on 15.06.2023, vide Notice No. JKSSB-COEDEXAM(UT)/48/2023-03 (7207093) dated 09.06.2023 and the Supplementary DV was conducted on 21.06.2023, vide Notice No. JKSSB-COEOEXAM(UT)/48/2023-03 (7207093) both at Jammu and Kashmir Offices, respectively. The selection Committee for the aforementioned posts was constituted vide Order No. 153-5SB of 2023 dated 14.08.2023; and

Whereas, the candidate figuring in the consideration zone for the two posts of Junior Librarian (199 and 200) was allowed to indicate the order of preference for these two posts posts/items manually by the DV Committee in Jammu on the date of Document verification; and

Student sprays pepper spray at self-defence event in Kupwara school, 13 students fall unconscious

Srinagar, Nov 2 (PTI) Over a dozen students of a government school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district had to be hospitalised after they fell unconscious during a self-defence event on Thursday, officials said.

One of the students sprayed pepper spray during the self-defence event due to which 13 female students fell unconscious, they said.

Officials said the students were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.

A self-defence event was conducted for students at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in the Handwara area of the north Kashmir district during the day.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Superintendent of Associate Hospital GMC Handwara, Dr Aijaz Ahmad, said 13 students were brought to the hospital. After treatment, their condition is stable, he said.

He said the students had a reaction to the spray, and that there was no need to worry.–(PTI)

114 Underprivileged Couples Tie Knots During Mass Marriage Ceremony in Srinagar; ‘Biggest in Kashmir’s History’, say Organisers ‘We The Helping Hands’ NGO

Srinagar, Nov 2 (GNS): A total of 114 underprivileged couples tied up knots during a mass marriage ceremony organised here on Thursday by non-governmental organisation ‘We The Helping Hands’.

The event, as per the organisers ‘We The Helping Hands’, was aimed to support the economically disadvantaged families who otherwise struggle to cover the high expenses normally associated with wedding ceremonies.

The organisers distributed marriage kits among the newly wed brides and grooms, who cutting across different sects and schools of thought benefitted from the event.

The event was made even more graceful by the presence of Molana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, Moulana Sajad Mazhari, Moulana Abdul Majid Lolabi and Bashir Ahmad Budhoo.

Srinagar, Nov 02 (KNO): In absence of heating arrangements in government-run-schools, most of the teachers take students outside the classroom to teach them under sunlight.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) spoke to several teachers of government schools who opine that the authorities shall provide heating arrangements from the first week of November only for the elementary level (Primary and Upper Primary) students.

At the same time some teachers said that teaching students inside the cold temperature rooms may pose potential risks in terms of physical health due to exposure to cold temperature.

One of the government teachers said, “From past over a week, many students of primary level have been complaining of cold temperatures in classrooms and in order to overcome it, I along with some of my colleagues decided to take students out of the classrooms to teach in open space under the sunlight.”

He said that the government usually starts providing heating facilities after November-15. “I think the government must amend the schedule especially for the lower class students.”

They must be given heating facilities from the first week of November so that it won’t pose any potential risks of physical health due to exposure to cold temperatures.”

In the meantime another teacher said, “Studying continuously in the cold temperature can make it difficult for students’ bodies to adjust appropriately. That may lead not only to one-off illnesses but other issues as well—depending upon how often they find themselves having lessons in the cold temperature without proper protection.”

Almost most of the teachers said that the students won’t be able to concentrate or focus on lectures if they continue to study in cold surroundings.

Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Alok Kumar told KNO that the department was aware of the matter and was looking into it. “We will take a call soon on this issue.”

On asking whether there was a possibility of providing heating arrangements for primary level students, Kumar said, “We have a huge number of schools and we don’t have that much of facilities available to provide prior winter vacations.”

He said, “We will see how we can manage to overcome the issue. If there will be extreme or more cold conditions, we will think of closing some schools for winter vacations.”

“For now we have changed the school timing keeping in view the cold like situations,” Kumar said—(KNO)

Vide Notification No.17 of 2023 dated 31st October 2023 of Indian
Nursing Council (INC) the last date of admission for all Nursing Programs for Academic Year 2023-24 has been extended up to 30.11.2023. Now in
pursuance of Notification No. 086-BOPEE of 2023 dated 24.09.2023 read with Notification No. 101-BOPEE of 2023 dated 25.10.2023 & due to paucity of time, it is hereby notified that the Board shall conduct Second /Mop Up Round of counseling for admission to B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Paramedical/B.Sc.
Technology Courses- 2023 in various Government/Private Colleges of UT of J&K.

It is further notified that in order to fill maximum number of seats & to accommodate more candidates, the Board has decided to reduce the bench marks from 30 to 20 marks for this round of counseling and therefore those candidates who have secured up to 20 marks in the Common Entrance Test
conducted by the Board for said courses shall be eligible to attend counseling as per the following schedule:

It is further notified for information of all the concerned candidates that
the upgradation/allotment of seats during the Second /Mop Up Round of Counseling shall be purely on provisional basis and shall not confer any preferential right upon the provisionally selected candidates and shall be subject to the outcome of writ petition, if any, sub-judice in any competent court of law on the subject.
All the candidates who are participating in the counseling shall bring along the following documents in original on the day of their counseling failing which
they shall not be allowed to attend the counseling:
i) Domicile certificate,
ii) Marks card of 12th class examination,
iii) D.O.B as per matriculation certificate,
iv) Category certificate, wherever applicable,
v) Diploma for Lateral Entry Candidates only.

The Board shall first call all the category candidates during Second /Mop Up Round of Counseling Process as per the above schedule and if any category candidate(s) is not available, then the same category seat(s) shall be converted into OM as provided under Section 09 (2) of J&K Reservation Act, 2004 and shall be allotted on the basis of merit cum preferences.

Bandipora-Gurez road closed after snowfall at Razdan Top

Bandipora, Nov 02 (KNO): The administration on Thursday closed the Bandipora-Gurez road for traffic after fresh snowfall at Razdan top in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the snow accumulation at the Razdan top, the only road link between the Gurez and the Kashmir Valley, prompted the closure due to slippery conditions.

The officials also said that certain areas in the plains of Gurez valley experienced rainfall.

According to officials, traffic restrictions will persist until there is an improvement in weather conditions—(KNO)

The result of the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2022 was declared vide Press Note dated 23.05.2023 recommending 933 candidates in order of merit for appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and certain other Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ against 1022 vacancies.

2. The Commission, in accordance with the Rule 20 (4) & 20 (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules, 2022 has also maintained a Consolidated Reserve List in order of merit below the last recommended candidate under the respective categories.
