Adequate Fuel, LPG Stocks Available in Kashmir, No Shortage: Div Com Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 23: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Monday said that there is no shortage of fuel or LPG in the Valley, assuring that sufficient stocks are available and the situation is being closely monitored.

Speaking to reporters, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Garg said that domestic LPG supply across Kashmir remains smooth, with stock availability ranging between 10 to 15 days. He added that the stock position is dynamic but currently stable, with continuous monitoring at both divisional and district levels.

He further said that petrol and diesel supplies are also steady, while district-level committees are keeping a close watch on oil marketing companies to prevent hoarding, black marketing and overpricing.

Garg said that control rooms at district and divisional levels are actively overseeing supply and distribution, while the Food and Civil Supplies Department is generating daily reports for regular review to ensure there is no inconvenience to the public.

Responding to complaints about delays in LPG delivery, he said such issues are being addressed on priority by Deputy Commissioners and concerned departments, with teams working on the ground to resolve them.

He urged the public not to pay heed to rumours and rely only on official information, assuring that the government is committed to maintaining uninterrupted supply.

On students from Jammu and Kashmir stranded in Iran, the Divisional Commissioner said that both the Government of India and UT administration are making continuous efforts to ensure their safe return. He added that helplines have been established and regular updates are being shared with families.

He said the administration is hopeful of an early resolution and reiterated that the situation is under constant review. (KNC)

The period from March 24 to 25 is likely to remain generally dry, providing temporary relief from wet weather conditions.

However, on March 26, cloud cover will increase again, and some areas may experience light rain or snowfall, particularly in the afternoon.

From March 27 to 28, the weather is expected to stay mostly dry, although isolated areas may witness brief spells of light rain or snow, which cannot be ruled out.

A more active weather system is expected between March 29 and 31, when the region will experience generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain in plains and snowfall in higher reaches. The MET department has also warned of thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h during this period.

For the beginning of April (April 1 to 3), weather conditions are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with no major disturbances predicted as of now.

In view of the changing weather conditions, especially the expected precipitation and gusty winds, the MET Centre Srinagar has issued an advisory for farmers.

Farmers are strongly advised to suspend all farming operations during the following dates:
