3 Govt Employees Terminated Over Terror Links in J&K

Srinagar, June 3 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday dismissed three employees from service over their alleged involvement with proscribed terrorist outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM).

Official sources told news agency JKNS that the three terminated individuals are Malik Ishfaq Naseer, a police constable, Ajaz Ahmed, a teacher in the school education department and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a junior assistant at Government Medical College, Srinagar.

Constable Malik was found involved in assisting LeT operatives by facilitating GPS-guided arms and narcotics drops in Jammu region. His activities came under scanner during a 2021 probe into arms smuggling. Officials revealed that he not only coordinated locations for arms drops but also distributed the consignments to active terrorists, they said.

Ajaz Ahmed was arrested in 2023 while transporting arms and Hizb posters in his vehicle. Investigations linked him to HM’s Pakistan-based handler Abid Ramzan Sheikh. He had allegedly been smuggling weapons for years to aid terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley, official sources added.

While, Waseem Ahmad Khan, a staffer at GMC Srinagar since 2007, has been accused of playing a significant role in militant logistics. Notably, security officials linked him to the 2018 killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari and his police guards. Investigators say Khan provided safe passage to militants after targeted attacks and facilitated multiple assaults on CRPF and local police personnel, they said.(JKNS)
