Central University of Kashmir Announces Admission for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering Programme

The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has invited applications for admission to its B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CS&E) program for the academic session 2024-25.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have passed the 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate (or its equivalent) from a recognized board/university. The minimum marks requirement is 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biology must be the main subjects in the 10+2 exam.
  • Applicants must have a positive score in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2024.

India’s unemployment rate declines in Jan-March quarter

New Delhi, May 15: The unemployment rate in India’s urban areas decreased to 6.7 per cent during January-March 2024 from 6.8 per cent in the same period of the previous year for persons aged 15 and above, reflecting a continued improvement in the job markets, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Wednesday.

The figures show that the female unemployment rate in the urban areas decreased from 9.2 per cent in January-March 2023 to 8.5 per cent in January-March 2024.

There has also been an increasing trend in the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) for persons aged 15 and above from 45.2 per cent in January-March 2023 to 46.9 per cent in January-March 2024.

This also shows an increase in employment as WPR is defined as the percentage of employed persons in the population.

Similarly, the Female Worker Population Ratio in the urban areas rose from 20.6 per cent to 23.4 per cent from January-March 2023 to January-March 2024, reflecting the overall increasing trend in WPR.

The Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in the urban areas shows an increasing trend from 48.5 per cent during January-March 2023 to 50.2 per cent in January-March 2024 for persons aged 15 and above. This also reflects an improvement in the job market.–(IANS)

NTA Postpones CUET UG 2024 Exam Scheduled for May 15 in Delhi, check new date here

This decision, announced shortly before the scheduled exam time, is attributed by the NTA to staffing challenges stemming from the concurrent Lok Sabha elections.

An official notice from the NTA informs all concerned candidates and stakeholders that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the test papers (Chemistry – 306, Biology – 304, English – 101 and General Test – 501) originally scheduled for May 15, 2024, in Delhi are postponed. The new date for these examinations is May 29, 2024. Revised admit cards will be issued accordingly for candidates in Delhi.

This decision, announced shortly before the scheduled exam time, is attributed by the NTA to staffing challenges stemming from the concurrent Lok Sabha elections. An NTA official explained that the CUET UG is a large-scale operation requiring numerous exam centres and invigilators. However, securing an adequate number of invigilators for the May 15 exam in Delhi was hindered by the ongoing elections. Consequently, the NTA opted to reschedule the exam to May 29.

Meanwhile, exams scheduled for May 15 in other cities across the nation, including Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida, as well as those scheduled for later dates (May 16, 17, 18) in all centres, including Delhi, will proceed as planned.

On May 13, the NTA issued admit cards for CUET UG 2024. However, a subsequent notice advised candidates to download their hall tickets only after the evening of May 14, as any administrative changes to examination centres would be reflected in the updated admit cards.

Candidates can obtain their CUET UG 2024 admit cards from the official website – exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/.

CUET UG will be administered between May 15 and 24, accommodating approximately 13.48 lakh candidates across multiple exam centres in 380 cities, including 26 cities outside India. Exams scheduled from May 15 to 18 will be conducted in pen-and-paper format, while those from May 19 to 24 will be administered online.
