Rains lash J&K, MeT predicts more

Srinagar, May 12 (GNS): Rains lashed Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday even as the weatherman has forecast more in the next few days.

A meteorological department official here told GNS received rainfall of 2.0mm in 24 hours till 8:30 a.m., Qazigund 3.6mm, Pahalgam 0.4mm, Kupwara 8.1mm, Kokernag 2.0mm, Gulmarg 8.6mm, Jammu 11.8mm, Banihal 3.0mm, Batote 11.4mm, Katra 10.2mm and Bhaderwah 1.0mm.

Regarding forecast, he said generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain (light snow over higher reaches) is expected at most places along with thunder/lightning/hailstorm/gusty winds at few areas.

On May 13, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/thunder at few places.

On May 14-18, he said, generally dry weather is expected.

On May 19, he said, generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/thunder at few places towards afternoon. From May 20-23, he said, generally dry weather is expected.

Regarding temperature, the MeT official told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 12.6°C against 11.2°C on the previous night and it was 2.0°C above normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 10.8°C against 9.4°C on the previous night and it was 1.6°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.8°C against 6.7°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.7°C for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 10.2°C against 9.6°C and it was 0.9°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a minimum of 9.6°C against 8.3°C on the previous night and it normal for the place, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 5.0°C, same as on the previous night and it was below normal by 0.5°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a low of 19.3°C against 23.1°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 4.2°C for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 13.8°C, Batote 11.5°C and Bhaderwah 10.6°C, he said. (GNS)

UGC NET June 2024: Registration Deadline Extended to May 15 – Official Notice Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the extension of the registration date for the UGC NET June 2024 examination until May 15, 2024. Candidates aspiring to appear for the exam can access the direct registration link on the official website of UGC NET at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. This decision comes following numerous requests from candidates for an extension, ensuring that all interested individuals have ample time to complete the application process.In addition to the extension of the registration date, the deadline for the submission of examination fees has been rescheduled to May 16-17, 2024. Moreover, a corrections window will be available from May 18 to May 20, 2024, allowing candidates to make any necessary changes to their submitted applications.The UGC NET June 2024 exam date has also been postponed to June 18, 2024, from the initial date of June 16, 2024. This adjustment provides candidates with more time for preparation, ensuring a fair opportunity for all aspirants.

National Testing Agency, NTA has extended the UGC NET June 2024 registration date. Candidates who want to apply for UGC NET June 2024 examination can find the direct link through the official website of UGC NET at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

As per the official notice, the last date for submission of online application form for UGC – NET June 2024 has been extended till May 15, 2024. The last date for submission of examination fee can be done from May 16 to May 17, 2024. The corrections window will open on May 18 and will close on May 20, 2024.

The decision to extend the registration was taken after NTA received various representations from the candidates to extend the last date for submission of online application.

The Agency has also postponed UGC NET June 2024 exam date. The UGC NET June 2024 examination will be conducted on June 18, 2024, instead of June 16, 2024.

UGC NET June 2024: How to apply

All the interested and eligible candidates can follow the steps given below to apply online.

Visit the official website of UGC NET at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

Click on UGC NET June 2024 link available on the home page.

Register yourself and login to the account.

Fill the application form and make the payment of application fee.

Click on submit and download the confirmation page.

Keep a hard copy of the same for further need.

The application fee for General/ Unreserved is ₹1150/-, for SC/ST/PwD and Third Gender is ₹325/. The payment of fee should be done through online mode- Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking /UPI.

Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Notification for Correction in Registered Particulars of Class 9th Students (Session 2023-25)

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued a notification for affiliated government and private high and higher secondary schools in Jammu Division, including Leh. The notification is regarding applications to correct any errors in the registered particulars of class 9th students for the session 2023-25. These students will be appearing for the class 10th examination in the annual regular session 2025.

Key Points

  • Institutions can apply for corrections between May 9, 2024, and May 22, 2024, without any penalty.
  • After May 22, 2024, a correction fee of Rs. 200 per candidate will be charged up to June 11, 2024.
  • Correction applications along with relevant supporting documents (original class 8th marks card and a checklist mentioning RR Nos.) must be submitted to the Divisional office and the concerned Sub/Branch office in offline mode.
  • The Assistant Secretary/Incharge Officers of the Sub/Branch Office of JKBOSE will consolidate and verify the corrections as per the class 8th marks card and forward all eligible cases to the R.R Section, JD, in hard copy as well as soft copy (in Excel format only) to the email [email address removed].
  • The Head of the Institution must ensure they print a copy of the RR checklist for checking corrections for future reference.
  • In case the last date falls on a holiday, the next working day will be considered the last date.
