NTA Revises SWAYAM July 2025 Exam Dates; City Intimation Slips Out — What Students Must Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a significant update for students registered for the SWAYAM July 2025 semester — announcing revised exam dates for a few selected courses and releasing the Advance City Intimation Slips. This comes as a relief for many candidates, who can now plan their logistics well ahead of exams, especially those requiring travel or stay in different cities.

Below is a detailed overview of what has changed, how to download the slip, which courses are affected, and what aspirants should do next.

🔹 What is SWAYAM — A Quick Refresher

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is an initiative by the Government of India to provide free online courses across disciplines — offering certificates to those opting for the exam. The certificate courses span fields from humanities to science, engineering, social sciences, education, and more.

Each SWAYAM semester (January/July) allows enrolled learners to appear for a proctored examination (in offline or hybrid mode, as per the course) to earn certificate credentials.

For the July 2025 semester, hundreds of courses — 648 in total according to initial notifications — are included under SWAYAM.

Earlier, in July 2025, NTA announced that the SWAYAM July Semester Exams would be conducted on 12 November 2025, 29 October 2025 — sorry, correction — the official schedule mentioned 11, 12, 13, 14 December 2025.

However, today’s update modifies the dates for a few specific courses, and also grants all candidates the ability to see their exam city in advance.

📄 What’s New? The Revised Schedule & City Intimation Slip

• Advance City Intimation Slip Released

On 5 December 2025, NTA published the “Advance City Intimation Slip” for SWAYAM–July 2025 exams — marking the city (not the full centre) allotted to each candidate. This gives candidates sufficient time to plan travel or accommodation, especially if the allotted city is different from their hometown.

According to the official notice, the slip is not the final admit card. The admit cards (with full centre address, hall ticket number, and instructions) will be released at a later date.

• How to Download the City Intimation Slip

Candidates registered for SWAYAM July 2025 can use the following simple steps:

  1. Visit the official SWAYAM / NTA portal: exams.nta.nic.in/swayam/
  2. On the homepage, click on the “Advance City Intimation for SWAYAM Exam (July 2025)” link.
  3. Enter your Application Number / Email ID and Date of Birth / Password (as applicable).
  4. Submit the details — your allotted city will appear on screen.
  5. Download or take a printout of the slip for future reference.

For any difficulty in downloading or other queries, NTA has provided helpline numbers — 011-4075 9000 / 011-6922770 — or students can email: swayam@nta.ac.in.

🗓️ Which Courses Have Revised Exam Dates?

While the majority of SWAYAM July 2025 courses are slated to remain on the earlier announced exam dates, NTA has revised the exam schedule for three specific courses.

Course Code Course Name Original Date Revised Date
cec25_ed14 Basic Concepts in Education December 11, 2025 December 15, 2025
ntr25_ed70 Basic Instructional Methods December 11, 2025 December 16, 2025
ntr25_ed94 Student Psychology December 13, 2025 December 16, 2025

In effect: these modified dates push part of SWAYAM’s exam schedule beyond the earlier December 14 cutoff — indicating perhaps logistical rescheduling on NTA’s part, or adjustments based on demand or resource distribution.

The rest of the courses — untouched by the revision — are expected to follow the earlier announced schedule (Dec 11–14).

🎯 Why This Matters — What Students Should Do Next

The dual update — exam date revision for some courses plus city slip release for all — has important implications for SWAYAM aspirants. Here’s what candidates should do now:

✅ Download City Slip Immediately

Even if your course is not among the rescheduled ones, you should still download the city intimation slip as soon as possible. It gives you clarity on which city your exam will be held — crucial for planning travel, stay (if required), and commute. As many SWAYAM students may come from far-flung places or small towns, knowing the city early helps avoid last-minute chaos.

📅 Check If Your Course Is Impacted by Date Change

If you are enrolled in Basic Concepts in Education, Basic Instructional Methods, or Student Psychology, make a note of the revised dates (Dec 15 or Dec 16, 2025). Rework your revision plan, shift any mock tests or revision sessions accordingly, and ensure you remain updated on admit-card release.

🏠 Arrange Logistics / Travel (if needed)

With exam city details out, students allotted cities away from their hometowns should look into train/bus bookings, accommodation (if staying overnight), or transport — especially if exams are nearing and demand for travel is high.

📄 Wait for Admit Card, but Keep Slip Safe

Remember: the city slip is not the final admit card. The admit card will carry full details — exam centre address, roll number, exam shift, and instructions. Keep the slip safe (digital & print), and monitor the official portal for admit-card release.

🔍 Stay Updated via Official Portal

Given that even exam dates have been revised once, there remains a possibility of further changes — thus, make it a habit to regularly check the official portal at exams.nta.nic.in/swayam/. This will help avoid surprises.

🧑‍🎓 What This Means for SWAYAM and Its Aspirants

The update by NTA — though affecting only a few courses — reflects the agency’s attempt at flexibility and transparency. Here are some of the broader takeaways:

  • Better planning for candidates: Releasing city slips ahead of admit cards breaks the conventional pattern where candidates only get to know their centre days before the exam. This added time buffer helps many who need to travel long distances.
  • Flexibility in scheduling: The date changes, while inconvenient for some, may have been necessitated by administrative or logistical constraints. That NTA still communicated the change early speaks to procedural clarity.
  • Growing scale of SWAYAM: With 648 courses listed for the July 2025 session, and a significant number of registered learners, managing exam logistics is non-trivial. The update hints at SWAYAM’s expanding footprint and NTA’s challenges in balancing volume with smooth conduct.
  • Recognising the ground reality: Many SWAYAM learners are working professionals, in-service teachers, or students from remote areas. Advance city slips — as opposed to last-minute hall tickets — accommodates their need to plan lives around exams.

For candidates and aspirants, this update is a mix of relief (for logistical planning) and alert (for date changes). It underscores the importance of vigilance, regular portal checks, and flexibility.

ℹ️ Important Reminders & FAQs

Is the city slip the same as the admit card?
No. The city intimation slip only reveals the city where the exam will be held. The official admit card — containing full center address, roll number, shift timing, instructions — will be released separately.

What if I can’t download the city slip?
Candidates facing difficulties (login issues or download failure) should contact NTA Helpdesk at 011-4075 9000 / 011-6922770 or email swayam@nta.ac.in.

Will there be further date changes?
At present, only three courses have revised dates. However, given prior changes, there is a small possibility of further revisions. Candidates are advised to monitor official announcements.

What if my allotted city is far from home?
Plan early — book travel or accommodation, or look for alternate exam centres (if allowed). Some colleges/faculties also coordinate group travel — consider pooling resources if many students from your region are assigned the same city.

📰 Context: How This Fits Into Recent Exam-Related Trends

In recent years, exam-conducting agencies (including NTA) have increasingly adopted the practice of releasing “city intimation slips” ahead of final admit cards. The aim is to give candidates more clarity about logistics well in advance — a trend seen earlier with other national-level exams.

For SWAYAM 2025 in particular: the decision to reschedule three courses may reflect an attempt to evenly distribute exam load across days or accommodate administrative constraints. Given that SWAYAM spans hundreds of courses and thousands of students, such adjustments, though inconvenient to some, may be necessary.

Moreover, SWAYAM’s growing reach — across languages, disciplines, and geographies — underlines the importance of clear communication from NTA. The advance slip release is a welcome step in that direction.

✅ Final Word: What You Should Do Right Now

If you’re registered for SWAYAM July 2025 semester, here’s a quick checklist:

  1. Immediately download your City Intimation Slip from exams.nta.nic.in/swayam/ and take a printout.
  2. Check if your course is among the three with revised dates — if yes, update your study / revision plan accordingly.
  3. Plan travel / accommodation now, if your allotted city is different from hometown.
  4. Keep the city slip safe — the admit card will come later, but delaying logistics may cause hassle.
  5. Stay alert to official updates; check the portal regularly.

With proper planning and awareness, these changes can turn into advantages — giving you time to prepare, relocate if needed, and approach your SWAYAM exam with clarity and calm.

Best of luck to all SWAYAM aspirants!

UPSC Opens Recruitment for 102 Posts — Apply from 13 December 2025

The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is hiring! The UPSC has officially issued a notification for 102 Group-A positions — comprising 100 posts for Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications (GI), and 2 posts for Deputy Director (Examination Reforms).

The online application portal will go live on 13 December 2025, and interested candidates have until 01 January 2026 to apply.

What Is UPSC & CGPDTM — And Why This Recruitment Matters

About UPSC

UPSC is India’s constitutional central recruiting agency, responsible for conducting competitive exams for All-India Services and various Central Civil Services (Group A and B).

By handling the recruitment for CGPDTM through UPSC, the process ensures transparency, merit-based selection, and a standardized procedure — giving candidates across the country a fair chance.

About CGPDTM and Role of Examiners

CGPDTM — commonly known as the Indian Patent Office — administers the legal framework governing patents, designs, trademarks, and geographical indications under the Patents Act, Designs Act, Trademarks Act and Geographical Indications Act.

The “Examiner of Trade Marks & GI” plays a key role in the intellectual property regime. Their duties typically include: scrutinizing trademark applications, verifying originality and conflicts, ensuring legal and procedural compliance, managing GI registrations, drafting examination reports, and assisting in IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) policy implementation.

For many aspiring graduates, this presents an attractive opportunity — combining public-sector stability, a respectable salary, and a role at the heart of India’s IP regulatory framework.

Vacancy Snapshot & Eligibility at a Glance

Post Number of Vacancies
Examiner of Trade Marks & GI 100
Deputy Director (Examination Reforms) 2

Key Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: Any graduate (in a relevant discipline) from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: 21 to 35 years as on 1 January 2026; age relaxation applies as per government norms for reserved categories.
  • Salary: Pay scale of ₹56,100–₹1,77,500 (Group A).

Important Dates

  • Application Start: 13 December 2025
  • Application Deadline: 01 January 2026

Selection Process — What to Expect

As per previous CGPDTM/Examiner recruitments and official recruitment announcements, candidates can anticipate a multi-stage selection process:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective-type) — likely to include general sections such as General English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Knowledge, General Science, and topics related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Trade Marks & GI laws.
  2. Main Examination (Written/Descriptive) — deeper evaluation covering relevant laws, GI/Trademark acts, procedural/legal understanding, general awareness, and perhaps domain-specific questions.
  3. Interview / Personality Test — to assess candidate’s legal/analytical skills, suitability for IP regulatory work, clarity, and communication.
  4. Document Verification & Medical Examination — standard as per UPSC / government hiring norms.

Why This Opportunity Is Significant

  • Growing Importance of IPR: As India’s innovation ecosystem expands — with startups, manufacturing, exports, exports of artisan/GI-linked goods, technology R&D — protection and regulation of trademarks, designs, and geographical indications becomes central. Working as a CGPDTM Examiner puts you at the core of India’s intellectual-property infrastructure.
  • Public-Sector Stability & Prestige: Group A central government job with stable pay, allowances, and status. For many graduates, especially those with interest in law, commerce, or arts (given GI dimension), this role balances security and intellectual engagement.
  • Diverse Career Growth: With past precedents of Senior Examiners, Registrars, Joint Registrars — there’s room for upward mobility within the Trade Marks & GI registry structure at CGPDTM.
  • Nationwide Reach: Since selection is via UPSC, applicants from across India have an equal chance. The job also impacts IP registrations nationwide.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Visit the official UPSC ORA portal (upsconline.nic.in) between 13 December 2025 and 01 January 2026.
  2. Read the official advertisement carefully — check for post-wise eligibility details, educational qualifications, required documents, and category-wise reservations (if any).
  3. Fill out the online application form, upload scanned copies of certificates/documents, and pay the application fee (if applicable). As per recent alerts, fee for General / OBC / EWS categories is ₹1000; for SC/ST/ PwBD / female candidates fee may be ₹500 (this may vary — confirm in official notification).
  4. Submit the application before the deadline (midnight of 01 January 2026).
  5. Download and keep a copy of the confirmation / registration page for future reference.

Preparation Tips for Aspirants

  • Understand IP Laws: Since the post involves Trade Marks & GI, a good grasp on relevant acts (Trademarks Act, GI Act), IP rights framework and registration procedures will give you an edge.
  • Brush Up General Aptitude & GK: UPSC–type objective exams often test reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness & current affairs — prepare those thoroughly.
  • Practice Past Papers: If possible, find previous recruitment question papers for CGPDTM/Trade Marks Examiner posts to get a sense of pattern.
  • Stay Updated on IPO / GI News: As IP-related developments increase in India, being aware of new judgments, GI registrations, trademark disputes, global treaties will help in mains/interview.
  • Organise Documentation Early: Ensure you have scanned certificates (educational, identity proof, category certificate if applicable) in correct formats before form filling starts.

What to Keep in Mind — Important Precautions

  • The official advertisement will contain post-wise eligibility & qualification details — make sure your discipline qualifies (especially for GI/Trademark Examiner posts).
  • Applications must be submitted only through UPSC online portal — no offline application will be accepted.
  • Pay close attention to age criteria and category-based relaxations, and support documents required for reservation claim.
  • Keep checking the official UPSC website for any corrigendum or updates (exam dates, admit cards, notice changes).

The 2025 recruitment drive by UPSC for 102 posts at CGPDTM offers a rare and valuable opportunity — especially for fresh graduates and young professionals — to build a career at the centre of India’s intellectual property framework. With attractive pay scale, national-level recruitment, and the chance to impact IPR regulation, this recruitment is sure to attract many aspirants.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, now is the time to prepare diligently and apply soon after 13 December 2025. Wishing all aspirants the very best!

FFRC Issues Strict Warning to Schools Over Early Fee Charging in J&K

0

“Schools must adhere to this strictly, and any violation will be taken seriously,” the FFRC cautioned in a statement

Srinagar: The Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) issued a clarification on Monday, warning schools across Jammu and Kashmir against early fee charging for the 2026–27 academic session.

“Schools must adhere to this strictly, and any violation will be taken seriously,” the FFRC cautioned in a statement.

It notified that for the session 2026–27, the fee shall be charged from 1st April 2026 and not November 2025.

“Some complaints have been received against various schools located in the winter zone of J&K UT with respect to the fee being charged after the change of academic session starting from November every year, as ordered by the Government. These schools, after the session starts in November, are demanding the fee for the year 2026–27,” the FFRC stated.

It emphasized that the academic year and financial year are two different things. The financial year starts from 1st April every year, as a result of which the fee structure of the schools has been fixed accordingly. It is therefore informed that the fee fixed by the Committee is based on the financial year starting from 1st April onwards.

Further, it said that schools are directed not to charge any fee for 2026–27 from November onwards, but should charge the fee in March 2026 for the year 2026–27. This will be in accordance with the fee structure fixed by the Committee.

JKBOSE Issues Notification for Class 11th Practical Examination 2025

JKBOSE Class 11th Practical Exam 2025 (Winter Zone) to Be Conducted at Respective Schools: Official Circular Issued

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially released a circular regarding the external practical assessment for Class 11th (HSP-I) students of the Annual/Regular 2025 (October – November session) belonging to the Winter Zone of Jammu Division. According to the latest notification, the practical examinations will now be conducted in the candidates’ respective schools, both Government and Private, instead of external centers.

This decision has been taken due to the severe cold weather conditions and sub-zero temperatures affecting several areas of Jammu Division during the winter season. The circular emphasizes safeguarding the academic interest of students while also ensuring their 100% attendance in such harsh weather conditions.

📄 Official PDF Link:

Why JKBOSE Changed the Practical Exam Venue?

JKBOSE has highlighted that the extreme temperatures make it difficult for students to travel to external exam centers. To ensure student safety and better attendance, the board has allowed the conduct of practicals within the parent schools under certain conditions.

Key Weather Concerns Mentioned:

  • Sub-zero temperature in many regions.
  • Difficulty in student travel due to severe cold.
  • Attendance issues during winter conditions.

This step will help students comfortably appear for examinations without facing climatic challenges.

JKBOSE Class 11th Practical Exams: New Guidelines

The circular has laid down some important guidelines that schools must follow. Below are the highlights:

1. Practical Exams to be Conducted at Parent Schools

  • All affiliated schools (Government & Private) will conduct the practicals within their own premises.
  • Schools should ensure proper arrangements for smooth conduct of exams.

2. Minimum Number of Students Required

  • Each institution must have at least 25 candidates per subject to conduct the external practical exam.

3. External Examiners to be Appointed

  • Even though the exam venue is shifted to schools, external examiners will still be appointed by JKBOSE.
  • Schools are not allowed to appoint their own internal examiners for external practicals.

4. Centre Notices to Be Prepared

  • All Heads of Schools and concerned Sub/Branch offices must prepare and publish the external practical centre notices accordingly.

Purpose Behind This Decision

JKBOSE has clearly stated that the facilitation of conducting practical examinations in the parent schools has been made to safeguard the academic interest of students. The move aims to ensure:

  • 100% student attendance
  • Comfort and convenience during harsh weather
  • Discipline and transparency through external examiners
  • Equal opportunity for all Government and Private institutions

The board has taken a student-friendly approach while maintaining examination standards through appointed examiners.

Who Has Received the Instructions?

The circular has been forwarded to several educational authorities to ensure strict implementation. These include:

  • Director, School Education, Jammu
  • Divisional Secretary, JKBOSE
  • All Assistant Secretaries/Sub Branch Offices including Leh District
  • PS to Chairman, JKBOSE
  • Information Officer, Jammu Division (to publish notice in newspapers)
  • IT & SS Department for website update
  • Heads of all Government and Private affiliated schools

This indicates the board’s intention to widely publicize and enforce the new guidelines.

What Does This Mean for Students?

For Class 11th students appearing in the Annual/Regular 2025 Winter Zone exams:

No Need to Travel Outside Your School

Students will appear for their practical exams at their own school, reducing travel stress and expenses.

External Examiner Will Evaluate

The exam will still maintain authenticity and transparency through authorized external examiners.

Better Attendance and Safety

Cold weather won’t affect attendance as students will stay within their locality or school premises.

Smooth and Comfortable Exam Experience

This is especially helpful in hilly areas where travel becomes risky during winter.

Important Instructions for Schools

Schools must ensure:

  • Proper lab arrangements and materials are available.
  • Practical record files and projects are prepared on time.
  • Teachers cooperate with appointed external examiners.
  • Centre notices are published early for student awareness.

Schools failing to adhere could face administrative consequences, as JKBOSE aims to standardize the evaluation process.

Final Takeaway

The JKBOSE Class 11th Practical Exam 2025 (Winter Zone) decision is a student-centric policy that reduces inconvenience caused by extreme cold weather. It balances comfort with transparency by conducting exams at schools while deploying external examiners.

Students and schools must stay updated through the official JKBOSE website for further updates.

JKBOSE Class 11th Practical Exam 2025 (Winter Zone) to Be Conducted at Respective Schools: Official Circular Issued

These circulars appear to be administrative updates relevant to private candidates and bi-annual exam scheduling for 2025.

  • Notice on Introduction of Fees for Change of Nomenclature/Location, Switching of Affiliation, and Re-inspection of Institutions
JKBOSE has proposed fee implementation for certain administrative services — including change of school name or location, affiliation switching, and institutional re-inspection.

  • Notice Seeking Public Opinion Regarding Introduction of Two-Level Mathematics Examination Scheme
The Board has floated a draft proposal to introduce a “two-level mathematics examination scheme.” Public feedback is currently being sought.

🧑‍🎓 What Students & Schools Should Know

  • The re-evaluation results notification (No. 090/HSP-Two) provides revised marks for students who had applied for re-checking of their answer sheets. This can impact final grades, divisions, or distinction status.
  • Multiple notifications reflect changes not only in examination results but also in administrative policies — especially for private or bi-annual candidates.
  • The proposed introduction of fees for services such as change of school name, affiliation, or re-inspection suggests increased regulatory formalization by JKBOSE.
  • The draft two-level mathematics scheme — if implemented — could change the assessment approach for mathematics papers across affiliated schools.

🔗 Official Source & Download Links

To access the official documents for each notification, students and institutions are advised to visit the “Notifications / Circulars” section of the JKBOSE website. For example:

  • The Re-evaluation Result Notification under 090/HSP-Two is publicly available in PDF format.
  • Other notices (e.g., fees for affiliation change, proposed syllabus/exam-scheme changes) can also be found in the JKBOSE circulars archive.

📝 Why This Matters

JKBOSE’s recent flurry of notices reflects a transition phase — combining result declarations, evaluation transparency, and administrative restructuring. For students, especially those in Class 12 or private/bi-annual streams, staying updated is crucial. For schools and institutions, the administrative fee proposals and affiliation rules could affect long-term planning.

We recommend all stakeholders — students, parents, school administrations — to regularly check the JKBOSE website to stay informed, download relevant PDFs, and respond where public feedback is solicited (e.g., on the proposed two-level mathematics exam scheme).
