Jamia Millia Islamia Reschedules Admission Tests for J&K Students, Reopens Applications for 24 Courses

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced that the admission tests scheduled on May 10 and 11 will be rescheduled for students from Jammu and Kashmir.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) also rescheduled admission tests on May 10 and 11 for students from Jammu and Kashmir. The university did this to accommodate students who are still having travel issues in the state.

According to the official announcement, a separate special round of tests will be held for the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir only who will not be in a position to appear for the tests scheduled previously.

For the rest of the candidates, the tests scheduled for May 10 and 11 will proceed as planned.

JMI admission tests started on April 26 and will continue until May 31.

The decision came after the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association had sent a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mazher Asif. They had sought a date change due to unsafe travelling conditions caused by heavy rain and landslides on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

JMI OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Nasir Khuehami, national convenor of the association, said that several students were midway or were unable to move forward beyond Banihal.

The association had demanded that either the admission tests be held later or a special round be organised. “We are not asking for special treatment, only a level playing field,” Khuehami said.

In another notification, Jamia has reopened online admission to 24 courses for the 2025-26 session. The application deadline is June 10. The decision is to help rural and remote students who had missed the previous application window.

The university also ensured that applicants who have already submitted applications for the mentioned courses will not need to reapply.
