NEET PG 2025 Unlikely Before August 3, NMC Informs Supreme Court

0
NBEMS has informed the Supreme Court that NEET PG 2025 can’t be held before August 3 due to the need for single-shift logistics and nationwide arrangements. It has sought permission to conduct the exam on August 3.

If you’re waiting for the NEET PG 2025 exam, there’s a new update. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has informed the Supreme Court that it cannot conduct the exam before August 3. This comes after the top court directed that the exam must be held in a single shift nationwide — unlike last year’s two-shift format.

Originally scheduled for June 15, the exam now needs fresh arrangements. And not just a few — we’re talking over 1,000 centres across 250+ cities, plus nearly 60,000 staff to manage everything from invigilation to security.

WHAT NBEMS TOLD THE COURT

In an affidavit, NBEMS said this time is essential for planning. They cited Tata Consultancy Services, their tech partner, saying the scale of the computer-based exam needs massive coordination. Roles to be filled include system operators, lab managers, registration staff, and electricians.

They also highlighted that NEET PG is a high-stakes exam. Any chances of malpractice need to be strictly avoided, which means help from law enforcement agencies and tighter centre controls.

WHY THE CHANGE?

The shift to a single session was triggered by a petition from United Doctors Front, arguing that different sessions could lead to unfairness. The Supreme Court agreed, saying holding it in multiple shifts could result in varying difficulty levels for candidates.

NBEMS has now proposed the August 3 date, with the exam set to be held from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, subject to the Court’s final nod.

WHAT NEXT FOR ASPIRANTS?

A final decision from the Supreme Court is awaited. Meanwhile, students are advised to check the official NBEMS website regularly for any updates regarding the new exam schedule.

NCDC Core Committee Demands Holistic Curriculum Reforms in All Levels of Education

NCDC Core Committee Demands Holistic Curriculum Reforms in All Levels of Education

Srinagar: In a landmark step towards educational overhaul, the National Child Development Council (NCDC) Core Committee has suggested a comprehensive resolution for revamping academic syllabi right from early childhood to professional courses. The resolution was placed on the table at the council’s recent core committee meeting, where its members expressed consensus support for incorporating newer generation technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and digital learning into the country’s curricula.

The session transcript began with a unanimous agreement: educational systems need to adjust to stay in tune with the new realities of a fast-paced technology-driven world. “We cannot rely entirely on teachers anymore,” said a member of the committee. “Learning does not just take place in the classroom anymore. Self-learning, online platforms, and interactive technologies need to contribute more in determining student knowledge, too.”

Members of the committee recognized that although some school curricula have started to incorporate courses such as robotics, a lot of institutions have yet to use old syllabi, instruction techniques, and examination systems in their vocational and professional courses.

“This is a timely and essential resolution,” according to one member, who continued, “The Alpha and Beta generation students are digital natives. Our strategy needs to address their mode of learning and future requirements.

A core committee member, stressed the necessity of change starting at the school level and then extending to university levels. “Teachers need to keep themselves updated continuously so students are prepared not only for exams, but also for life,” she added.

Another member noted that education and industry were drifting apart. “It’s still the case in many colleges that students are being taught out-of-date modules. Meanwhile, industries—particularly IT industries—are changing day by day. We need to provide a foundation to students from college itself in terms of how present-day technologies work,” she implored.

Baba Alexander, NCDC Master Trainer, emphasized the redundancy of the existing model of lectures and assignments. “Even in the education of doctors, students are not being introduced to robotic surgeries or advanced diagnostic equipment. The syllabus hasn’t caught up with actual practices,” he said. He urged a move away from strict, teacher-centric syllabi to a more comprehensive, technology-enabled and resource-based approach.

Members of the committee emphasized the need to provide students with access to online tools and AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT, allowing them to pursue independent learning from a young age. This would encourage autonomous thinking, flexibility, and greater interest in learning subject material.

The resolution also emphasized the importance of reform in the assessment process, pushing for ongoing and applied assessment models rather than conventional exam-based systems.

In conclusion, the NCDC core committee called upon governing and regulatory bodies—including university councils and professional education boards such as AICTE and medical councils—to take urgent steps toward updating curricula. “This is not just a reform—it’s a necessity,” said one member. “The future of our children depends on how well we prepare them today.”

Reservation committee to submit report before set deadline: Sakeena Itoo

Says steps underway to address doctor shortage, post creation under review

Bandipora, Jun 04 (KNO): Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Wednesday said that a reservation committee, constituted by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is examining all related representations and is expected to submit its report before the scheduled deadline.

Earlier, the 2024 reservation policy has sparked protests in Kashmir, where 69% of the population now competes for just 33% open merit seats.

Itoo while speaking to the media persons during her visit to Bandipora, said a reservation committee has been formed by the Chief Minister to examine the matter.

She said the representations received have already been reviewed, and the committee is expected to submit its report within the given timeframe.

Responding to issues related to the health sector, Itoo said that all doctors, who were earlier attached, have now been detached and sent back to their original postings.

She said there is a shortage of doctors in the region, and added that the government has taken steps to address the issue. “After this government was formed, the Chief Minister ordered the recruitment of 500 doctors, who have now been posted to remote areas,” she said.

Itoo added that while the shortage still exists, the government is working on a proposal to fill the remaining gaps in staffing.

She also said that the process of creation of new posts, which has been under a ban since 2007, is currently being examined. “The government will try to address this issue because there is a need. Where there is shortage, creation must take place. Inshallah, it will be done soon,” she said.

Regarding departmental shortages, the Minister said that any such issues will be verified and appropriate action will be taken. “If the sanctioned post exists at a certain place, the doctor will be sent back there,” she added.

The Minister said that the government is working on all fronts including detachment, recruitment, and post-creation to strengthen the healthcare system in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
