J&K sees 32% deficit rainfall, Sgr records average precipitation in 54 days

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNO): The light rainfall lashed the parts of Kashmir on Thursday while the weatherman predicted the possibility of a brief spell of light rain and thundershowers for the next two days.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu and Kashmir’s deficit rainfall has reduced further after the recent heavy wet spell.

The data prepared by the local Meteorological department reveals that the present deficit rainfall in J&K from March 01, 2025 to April 23, 2025 has reduced to 32 per cent with Srinagar, the summer capital of the region, recording an average rainfall.

Against the normal precipitation of 231 mm, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a rainfall of 156.2 mm in the last 54 days, the data revealed.

Besides Srinagar, the other stations including Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Kupwara and Ramban have recorded an average rainfall during the period.

However, Anantnag, Budgam, Doda, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Poonch, Shopian and Udhampur have recorded deficit rainfall upto 59 per cent during the period while Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Reasi and Samba have recorded large deficit rainfall upto 99 per cent.

Meanwhile, the light rains lashed the parts of Kashmir this afternoon followed by the gusty winds at multiple places.

Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told KNO that there is a possibility of a brief spell of light rain and thundershowers for the next two days.

However, he said that the weather is expected to remain dry from April 27 to May 02—(KNO)

“Don’t consider us enemies”: CM Omar on reports of attacks on Kashmiri’s outside Valley

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNO): Following reports about attacks on Kashmiri students and traders outside the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday said that people should stop targeting the people of Kashmir in other states.

Speaking to reporters, CM Omar, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that there are some reports that people of Kashmir are being targeted in different states.

“I request the people of India not to consider people of Kashmir their enemies. If the Centre is saying that the attack was done by Pakistan, then why the youth and the students of Jammu and Kashmir are being targeted in the outside states. It should be stopped,” he said.

CM Omar further said he spoke to several Chief Ministers and requested them to ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir youth in their respective states. “People of Jammu and Kashmir are not enemies of peace. Whatever happened did not took place with our wish. We have to come out of this.”

He added that the government has sympathy with all those who were killed in Pahalgam terror attack. “Be, it the local civilian who took bullets to protect our guests or the tourists who had came here to enjoy the vacations,” CM Omar said—(KNO)

24th – 26th April:
The weather is expected to remain generally dry across the region. However, there is a possibility of brief spells of light rain or thundershowers, particularly during the afternoon hours. These may occur at isolated to scattered places and could be accompanied by thunder, gusty winds, and hailstorms.

27th – 30th April:
The weather is forecasted to remain generally dry with no significant weather activity expected.

1st – 2nd May:
Continuing the dry spell, weather conditions are predicted to stay generally dry during the beginning of May.

National Testing Agency, NTA has released NEET UG 2025 exam city slip. Candidates who want to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test can download the city intimation slip through the official website of NTA NEET at neet.nta.nic.in.

The NEET UG examination will be held on May 4, 2025 in single shift- from 2 pm to 5 pm in pen and paper mode. The Test pattern of NEET (UG) – 2025 comprises Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology). The exam comprises of 180 questions and marks is 720. NEET (UG) -2025 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
