The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued an important notification for candidates of the Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12th) Annual (Private) Bi-Annual 2024 Examination. Students who have applied for Xerox copies of their answer scripts to verify any discrepancies or variations are required to act promptly.

The board has directed all such candidates to report to the office of the Assistant Secretary, Secrecy-III, KD, at the new campus in Bemina, Srinagar, on or before December 6, 2024.

Srinagar, Dec 05: On the 42nd foundation day of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah his government’s priority is to restore its autonomy, address staff shortages, and modernise equipment.

“SKIMS has given a lot to Jammu and Kashmir, far beyond expectations, despite difficulties, financial constraints, outdated equipment, and staff shortages,” Omar Abdullah said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He lauded SKIMS authorities for handling immense pressure due to inadequate infrastructure at district and sub-district hospitals, which forces patients with routine medical needs to seek treatment at SKIMS.

He said that SKIMS’ autonomy, once a hallmark of its efficient functioning, has been eroded, impacting its engineering and maintenance capabilities.

Citing critical challenges like power outages, oxygen plant failures, and cumbersome procurement procedures, he called for immediate action to restore the institution’s operational independence.

The chief minister also raised concerns over prolonged recruitment delays, particularly in nursing, where a single nurse is reportedly tasked with managing 30 beds at night-a situation he termed “unsustainable.”

Omar said that SKIMS was envisioned by Sheikh Abdullah to provide advanced medical care within the region, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment outside Jammu and Kashmir.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting SKIMS by introducing new technologies, upgrading equipment, and alleviating its operational burdens.

“SKIMS represents a beacon of hope for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. My government will continue to stand with SKIMS to ensure it grows, thrives, and continues to serve the people with excellence,” Omar said—(KNO)

Minister Sakina Itoo warns of strict action against schools demanding capitation fee

Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir education minister, Sakina Itoo Thursday said that government will take strict action against private schools that are violating government norms.

“Whosoever is facing the issue of admission and capitation charges from private schools must approach the concerned authorities with a proper proof and government will ensure accountability and action against the institute,” she said.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Itoo, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said they reversed the academic session and want a new academic session to commence soon so that winter vacation will be announced at an earliest.

She said that if any private school is violating government norms with regard to regulation of fee, strict action will be taken against the institution—(KNO)

RPF SI admit card 2024 for December 9 exam today, where and how to check

Candidates whose exam date is mentioned as December 9 on the city intimation slips have to download the RPF SI admit card by logging in to the website of RRBs they have applied under.

Srinagar, Dec 04 (KNO): Amid the forecast of four-day dry spell in Jammu and Kashmir, the night chill has intensified in the Valley with most of the areas recording the sub-zero temperatures.

As per the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the minimum temperature plummeted further across the Valley with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recording the second coldest night of the season at minus 2.0 degree Celsius.

Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination, has recorded a low of minus 4.8 degree Celsius while the Meteorological department (MeT) has informed that Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.2 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degree Celsius.

Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded a low of minus 3.5 degree Celsius.

The temperature has plummeted amidst the forecast of four-day dry spell till December 07 while the weatherman here has predicted no significant weather conditions till December 15.

Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told KNO that there is a possibility of generally cloudy weather while light rain and snow at isolated higher reaches are expected during late night of 8th to 9th morning.

However, on December 10, there is a forecast of light rain and snow at isolated places towards early morning.

In the meantime, the weatherman has predicted generally dry weather from December 11-13 and light rains and snow over isolated places on December 14 & 15.

Budgam, Dec 04 (KNO): The Tourism Department has evacuated tea stall owners operating in various locations of Doodhpathri, asking them to conduct their business from a single designated area near the toll post.

The decision has drawn criticism from the stall owners, who held a protest against the move, claiming that it affects their livelihoods.

“We were earning for our families by selling tea and Kashmiri roti without harming the environment. Relocating us to a particular site will make it difficult for us to sustain,” a protester told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The vendors also alleged that no recent prior evacuation notice was served to them and have urged the administration to reconsider the move to resolve their grievances.

However, CEO Doodhpathri, Riyaz Ahmad justified the action, citing illegal operations by the stall owners.

“Many families were involved in multiple trades such as horse riding, ATV rentals, and tea selling, which was unfair to others. The department aims to implement a ‘one family, one trade’ policy for fairness,” he said.

He assured that a meeting with service providers is planned to address these concerns, adding that the newly allocated area near the toll post offers sufficient space for the vendors to operate.

The department has clarified that no stalls will be allowed at unauthorized locations to ensure a better experience for tourists and sustainable management of resources—(KNO)
