The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the opening of online applications for the Central Sector Scheme Scholarships for the academic year 2024-2025. College and university students across India can apply for the scholarship via the official portal, scholarships.gov.in, by October 31, 2024.

According to the notification, students are advised to submit their applications within the stipulated time. Institutions may require students to verify their applications by presenting original documents. Failing to do so will result in the application being deemed invalid.

To apply, students must register on the portal using a One-Time Registration (OTR) number, password, and Captcha code. The OTR system will automatically fetch their details, including photographs and demographics. If any details need updating, students will be required to update their Aadhaar card, and the changes will reflect in their OTR profile through a fresh eKYC process. These updated details will then be automatically reflected in their scholarship application form on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

The CBSE has emphasised that providing incorrect or false information during the application process could lead to immediate rejection of the scholarship. JKBOPEE Invites Offline Applications for B.E./B.Tech. Admission 2024 in J&K

The J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has released Notification No. 105-BOPEE of 2024, dated 11-09-2024, inviting offline applications for B.E./B.Tech. Courses 2024 in various Government and Private Institutions/Colleges of UT of J&K. This special round of admissions aims to fill vacant seats following the conclusion of three rounds of counseling.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Educational Qualification:
– Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
– Open Merit candidates need a minimum of 45% marks, while reserved category candidates (SC/ST/RBA/ALC/IB/OBC) need 40%.
– Candidates who have already appeared in the CET conducted by BOPEE on 09-06-2024 are eligible.

2. Special Categories:
– Children of Defense Personnel, Police Personnel, Para-Military Forces, Children with outstanding sports proficiency, and those under the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme are also eligible for admission.

4. Non-CET Candidates:
– Candidates who have not appeared in the CET on 09-06-2024 can also apply but must meet the eligibility criteria.

OakNorth STEM Scholarship and Mentorship Programme: Empowering Female Students in STEM

The OakNorth STEM Scholarship and Mentorship Programme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious and underprivileged female students from Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Bihar who are pursuing graduation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields. This initiative is designed to uplift female students studying in government colleges and universities by offering them both financial support and mentorship opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to female students who have passed Class 12 and are currently enrolled in any year of a STEM-related undergraduate program at government institutions. Applicants must belong to Haryana, Uttarakhand, or Bihar, and their family income should not exceed INR 3.5 lakh annually from all sources. LG Manoj Sinha’s Challenge: Will Resign if 75% People Aren’t Satisfied with Work Done

New Delhi, Sep 12, KNT: Hitting out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his ‘king’ remark, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said he would resign if less than 75% of the people say that work has been done for the welfare of the public in the last five years. Speaking at Aaj Tak’s ‘Panchayat’ event on the banks of Srinagar’s iconic Dal Lake, Sinha said a secret ballot could be conducted to gauge public sentiment following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

“He (Rahul Gandhi) should take the opinion of the public, he will be more aware. Get a secret ballot done. If more than 75 per cent of the public does not say that work has been done for their welfare in the last five years, then I will resign,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

During his recent visit to Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi compared the functioning of the Lieutenant Governor with the kings of the past. “A king is sitting here in J&K who is named LG who is taking your wealth and giving it to people from outside by bringing in contractors,” Gandhi had said at an election rally in Banihal.

Sinha, however, said whichever party formed the next government in J&K would have his full support. The remark comes after the opposition raised concerns over the Centre extending the scope of the Lieutenant Governor’s administrative powers.

“In the Union Territories, the Lieutenant Governor has such powers. Whichever government comes, it will have my full support,” he said.

Manoj Sinha also said that the Assembly elections, which will be held in three phases from September 18, would be completely free and fair. “Even at 11 in the night, people are going out to eat. Campaigning is also going on till midnight,” he said.

On the record voter turnout in the recent Lok Sabha polls, Sinha said it was due to the people understanding the conspiracy of Pakistan and realising that their future was with India. Jammu and Kashmir recorded 58.46% voter turnout, the highest in a Lok Sabha poll in the last 35 years, as per the Election Commission.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the people of the Valley, have expressed faith in the democracy of India,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Sinha, who has been the J&K Lieutenant Governor since 2020, said the Congress and opposition should know that Article 370 was no longer part of the Constitution. He said even the Supreme Court has upheld the Centre’s decision to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status
