Weather Update for Jammu and Kashmir

Cloudy weather is expected initially, with rain showers likely to follow by the afternoon or late afternoon, especially in the Kashmir region.

A break in weather activities may occur afterward, with another spell likely to start during the night or early tomorrow morning. Rain showers are expected to persist until tomorrow afternoon, with some areas experiencing showers until evening.

Most of the precipitation is expected in Kupwara district, followed by north Kashmir higher reaches, Poonch, and Rajouri districts.

Overall intensity of the spell = light to moderate

Due to lower temperatures, light snowfall can occur over extreme higher reaches (elevation > 4000 m).

Intense showers/cloudbursts can’t be ruled out as monsoon is active.

School Education Department Requests List of Lecturers with Poor 12th Exam Results

School Edu Deptt seeks list of lecturers with unsatisfactory results in 12th class exams

Srinagar, Aug 28: School Education Department has sought list of all those lecturers in government educational institutes who have failed to deliver satisfactory results in the 12th standard exams.

In this regard, an official communique was sent by under secretary to the government for School Education Department to directors of school education of both Jammu and Kashmir regions.

The official communique, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reads, “The directors are requested to furnish the complete lists of all erring lecturers (School wise) in whose favour result of 10+2 examination for the academic session, 2023-24 has been found and reported poor or unsatisfactory in violation of standing norms.”

“The requisite details shall be furnished to this department within two days in view of the seriousness of the issue,” it reads.

Earlier, in June School Education Department has attached a principal of Higher Secondary School to CEO office for poor performance in the recently announced results of 12th standard.

Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) in an order had said that no students in that Higher Secondary School has qualified the exams.

DSEJ had also said that it had asked all the CEOs of the division to furnish the result report for class 12th to the directorate.

“The CEO Rajouri has reported that zero percent result has been shown by the HSS Behrote Thannamandi wherein a total number of 13 students had appeared-13 in the exams and none of them had cleared it,” DSEJ said—(KNO)

International cricket to return to Kashmir after 40 years

Legends League Cricket’s final to be played in Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium

Srinagar, Aug 28 : After nearly half a century, Indian and international cricketing stars will return to Kashmir to play the final leg of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) in October at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.

The upcoming season of the LLC will begin on September 20 at Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Co-Founder of LLC, Raman Raheja, in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), expressed excitement about the league’s return and the opportunity to play in Kashmir this season.

This is a significant event for the people of Kashmir, who will be able to watch live cricket after almost 40 years, Raheja said, adding that it will give cricketers a chance to experience the beauty of Kashmir and its hospitality.

The league, which has gained a reputation for its thrilling matches, attracted an audience of 180 million across India in the previous season’s 19 matches. With an expanded schedule and an even more impressive lineup, including recently retired Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, this season is set to break previous viewership records.

Last season, the league featured cricket legends such as Suresh Raina, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, Gautam Gambhir, Chris Gayle, Hashim Amla and Ross Taylor, among others, who showcased their skills along with 110 other legendary cricketers.

This year, a total of 25 matches will be played among six teams, which will culminate in an electrifying final on October 16. The tournament, which is franchise-based and includes a pool of over 200 players, will take place in four cities: Jodhpur, Surat, Jammu, and finally Srinagar, bringing cricket back to the valley after 40 long years.

The Legends League Cricket will kick off at Barkatullah Khan Stadium, Jodhpur on September 20, 2024, before moving to Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on September 27.

The third leg will be held at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu from October 6, 2024, which will mark a return of international cricket to the city after 35 years.

The finals will be played at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar from October 10, 2024, where fans have eagerly waited nearly half a century to witness live cricket action again.

The player auction for this season will be held in New Delhi on August 29, 2024, where franchises will compete to secure the biggest stars from Indian and international cricket, with over 200 players up for grabs—(KNO)

Ahead of polls, EC transfers SSPs, SP in JK as part of admin tone-up: Sources

New Delhi, Aug 28: In an administrative tone-up ahead of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission has directed the transfer of senior superintendents of police of Baramulla and Kupwara and the SP of Handwara and has asked the administration to send a panel of IPS officers to be posted there, sources said on Wednesday.

The poll authority has also approved relieving of SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra, an IPS officer who was transferred from Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi Police in June 2023 but could not be relieved due to administrative reasons.

The Commission has directed the Union territory administration to provide a panel of IPS officers for the post of SP/SSP Srinagar, Baramulla, Handwara and Kupwara by Thursday evening.

The EC has also cleared the appointment of IPS officer Nalin Prabhat as DG (Operations and Security) of J-K Police till September 30. He is currently on inter-cadre deputation and posted as Special DG, J-K till September 30.

It also gave its nod to the extension of inter-cadre deputation tenure of IAS officer Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid, the deputy commissioner of Anantnag, for a period of two years. He had completed his tenure on July 8 this year.

The sources said Baramulla SSP Gurinderpal Singh, Handwara SP Dawood Ayoub, and Kupwara SSP Shobhit Saxena have been transferred out.

J&K BOPEE Notification: NEET UG 2024 Counselling Schedule Announced

The J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has released an important notification regarding the counselling process for admission to NEET UG courses (MBBS/BDS) for the session 2024-25. The notification details the online choice filling and counselling schedule for eligible candidates.

Key Dates:
– Start Date: 28th August 2024 (after 3:00 PM)
– End Date: 31st August 2024 (midnight)

Instructions:

The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipora, Kashmir, has officially opened admissions for various undergraduate programs for the academic year 2024. Interested candidates are invited to apply for the available vacancies in the programs listed below. Applications must be submitted in person at the Office of the Dean Academic Affairs, IUST Campus, Awantipora, by or before 6th September 2024. Admissions will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis until all vacancies are filled.

Programs and Eligibility Criteria:

1. B.Tech. Electrical Engineering
– Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) or any recognized board. Candidates must have also appeared in JEE Main Paper-I (2024).

2. B.Tech. Robotics & Automation Engineering
– Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from JKBOSE or any recognized board, along with an appearance in JEE Main Paper-I (2024).

3. B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering
– Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from JKBOSE or any recognized board, and appearance in JEE Main Paper-I (2024).

4. B.Arch. (Bachelor of Architecture)
– Eligibility:
– 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, OR
– 10+3 Diploma in Mathematics with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
– Candidates must also pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)-2024 or JEE (Paper-2A) 2024.

5. B.Sc. Economics (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 50% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board.

6. B.Sc. Mathematical Sciences (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

7. B.Sc. Physics (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 55% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board, with Physics as a compulsory subject.

8. B.A. Journalism & Mass Communication (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 50% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board.

9. B.A. Islamic Studies (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board.

10. B.A. Arabic Language & Literature (FYUGP)
– Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 45% marks from JKBOSE or any recognized board.

GATE 2025 Registration: Once the process starts, eligible candidates can submit their forms through the link provided on gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

GATE 2025 Registration: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will begin the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE 2025 today, August 28. Once the process starts, eligible candidates can submit their forms through the link provided on gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

The last date to apply for GATE 2025 without late fee is September 26 and the application deadline with late fee is October 7.

The test is scheduled for February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025. There will be two shifts on all exam days. A candidate is eligible to appear for up to two papers of GATE 2025.

GATE 2025 eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree course and those who have a government-approved degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
  • Candidates who have certification from professional societies approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as being equivalent to BE/ BTech/ BArch/ BPlanning, etc. are also eligible.

  • A high-quality image of the candidate’s photograph conforming to the requirements mentioned in the information brochure.
  • High-quality image of candidate’s signature conforming to the requirements.
  • Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format, if applicable.
  • Scanned copy of PwD Certificate in PDF format, if applicable.
  • Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format, if applicable.
  • Scanned copy of valid photo Identity document: Aadhar-UID(preferable)/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter ID/ Driving License.
  • The photo ID must contain the name and date of birth of the candidate and an unique identification number. The original copy of this photo ID must be presented on the exam day for verification.

GATE 2025 application fee

During regular period: ₹900 for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates and ₹1,800 for all others
