Insurance Policy Online: 9 things to keep in mind before buying a Car

The right car insurance policy ensures you get maximum coverage against any unforeseen events and expenses. As such, you must consider the following factors while choosing your ideal car insurance policy

Assess your requirements: First and foremost, list down your requirements – the kind of coverage you require. Decide whether you need a comprehensive or a third-party car insurance. Understanding the difference between comprehensive and third-party car insurance is crucial to make an informed decision while buying car insurance.

Understand the coverages offered: A third-party car insurance only covers damages caused to other vehicles or property, while comprehensive car insurance covers damages to your own car as well as third-party liabilities. If you want better protection against damages to your own car, it is best to opt for comprehensive car insurance. You also get the option to avail add-on covers on your comprehensive car insurance.

Compare car insurance policies online: It is always a good idea to compare car insurance policies online. This allows you to compare different policies and insurers and choose the one that offers the most suitable coverage and fits your needs.

Look for comprehensive cover for better protection: As mentioned, comprehensive car insurance offers much better protection than having only third-party car insurance. This is because it covers a range of damages and risks, such as theft, accident, fire, and natural calamities against your insured car. Therefore, if you are  buying car insurance it is better to go for comprehensive cover for maximum coverage.

Know your car’s insured declared value: The insured declared value (IDV) is the maximum amount that the insurer will pay you in case of total loss or theft of your car. Therefore, it is important to choose an IDV that reflects the true value of your car. Higher the IDV, higher the compensation provided in cases of total loss or theft of your car.

Look for add-on covers based on your needs: Add-ons are additional protection options that you can purchase to enhance your coverage. Some common add-ons include zero depreciation cover, engine protect cover, No Claim Bonus protection cover, consumables cover, and roadside assistance cover. Assess your needs and choose add-ons that suits your needs. These add-on covers may come at an additional premium, but it helps you get complete coverage for your car.

Check for deductibles: A deductible is the amount that you will need to pay during claim settlement. Choosing a higher deductible can lower your premium cost, but it also means that you have to pay out of your pocket in case of a claim.

Amid scorching heat, clamour for short summer break in school

Consider insurance company’s claim settlement ratio & process: The claim settlement ratio indicates the percentage of claims that the company settled successfully. A higher ratio means that the company is more reliable in terms of settling claims. Also make sure to understand they have an the efficient claim settlement process, with minimal hassles and delays.

Check for network garages available: Insurance companies tie up with workshops or repair shops where you repair your insured car without making any payments from your pocket. Choosing a company with a wide network of garages can ensure that you have access to quality repairs in case of an accident.

By following the above tips, you can ensure that you have the best possible protection for your car, and peace of mind on the road. You can look for a range of car insurance policies on Bajaj Finance Insurance Mall and compare the policies. Amid scorching heat, clamour for short summer break in school

Srinagar, Aug 23: In the midst of a blistering heat wave in Kashmir, parents of school-going children have demanded that summer vacation be declared in educational institutions up to the higher secondary level.

Kashmir is experiencing searing heat, with temperatures climbing beyond 34 degrees Celsius.

The excessive heat is causing challenges for children attending school, particularly those in lower grades.

Parents said that the children were experiencing hassles in classrooms as the temperatures rose with each passing day and at the same time educational institutions and transportation were not completely outfitted with necessary provisions to tackle the heat wave prevalent in Kashmir.

They said that students in primary schools were the hardest affected by the extreme heat wave.

“With the rising temperature, we appeal to the authorities in the Education Department to close schools for at least one week so that students can get some relief from the heat,” said Nasir Ahmad, a parent.

The daytime temperature has risen sharply in recent days, accompanied by heavy humidity, making it difficult for the students to go to school.

Though the government had earlier announced summer break in June for upto 12th grade, scorching heat in Kashmir has made it difficult for kids to concentrate on their studies.

Given the increase in everyday temperatures, parents say students in the school are finding it difficult to stand the heat, which can be harmful to their health.

“Students these days get deadly exhausted in the early hours in schools and later complain of headaches and other ailments while returning home,” a school teacher said.

The parents demanded that the School Education Department accept their request and proclaim one-week summer holidays for schools, which might be extended based on the temperature in Kashmir.

“The department should not postpone the decision because prompt action can benefit students,” they said.

However, Principal Secretary School Education Department, Alok Kumar said, “Currently there is no proposal to announce a short summer break.”

On Tuesday, the temperature in Srinagar reached 34.6 degrees Celsius.

This year, J&K saw early and unusually warm temperatures in May and June.

The hottest months were May through July.

Although a huge portion of north and central India experiences heat wave in May every year, the maximum temperatures have been abnormally high in sections of Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir (Greater Kashmir)

Jammu & Kashmir clinches 2nd spot in country by taking its count of online services to 913

Jammu, Aug 23 (KNO): Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta on Wednesday announced the on boarding of 913 citizen centric online services on the e-UNNAT portal. With this, Jammu and Kashmir has attained second position in the country amongst States, UTs in the number of online services provided to the citizens.

The Chief Secretary stated that it is an important milestone in tune with the resolve of the J&K administration to provide ease, convenience and accessibility of services to the common man. With 913 online services, J&K has overtaken Kerala which provides 911 services online and is placed at second position in the country after Madhya Pradesh.

Under the ‘Digital J&K Programme’ that was launched in mission mode last year, the number of online services has increased exponentially from 35 services in 2021 to 913 services as on date.

The Chief Secretary commended the efforts of the IT Department and NIC for the progress made in enhancing the number of online services of different departments. He emphasised on the need to identify more citizen centric services especially in the areas of health, education and ‘Nasha Mukht J&K’ for development in online mode so as to reach a wider section of populace.

He stressed on the need to ensure proper assessment of citizen feedback and to continually monitor the quality of these services. It was directed that an intensive IEC campaign be launched for informing the public about the digital initiatives and for greater uptake of the online services.

The use of technology has ushered in a new era of digital governance in J & K with 24×7 availability of services on the single unified portal as well as the ‘ mobile dost’ app. The services have even been linked with the Rapid Assessment System (RAS) for citizen feedback and over 52 lakh SMSs have been sent till date with an approval rating of 86 percent.

Moreover 300 online services have been linked to the Auto appeal system wherein appeals are escalated to the appellate authorities in case service is not provided within the timelines defined under PSGA. These measures have veritably enhanced the transparency and accountability in the functioning of government departments besides taking administration at the doorsteps of the people in the UT—(KNO)
