Government Confirms No Extension of Summer Vacations in Kashmir

No plans of extending summer vacations in Kashmir: Govt

Srinagar, Jul 26: The divisional administration Kashmir Friday said that there was not any possibility of re-announcing the summer vacations for the schools of the region.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri told reporters that there were no possible plans for the government to re-announce the summer vacations for schools of the Kashmir region.

“We have already changed the school timing in schools of Kashmir region. Re-announcing the summer vacation is not possible for now,” he said.

Bidhuri further said that the administration will have to take care of minimum working academic days too.

“We have to complete the syllabus of the students within the timeframe and by announcing extra vacations, we won’t be able to complete it,” he said.

The Divisional Commissioner further said that the government was monitoring the weather situations and if required the administration will take a call accordingly—(KNO)

NEET UG 2024 Revised results declared; The National Testing Agency on Friday announced the final results of the controversy-ridden medical entrance exam NEET-UG, officials said.

The results were declared following directive from the Supreme Court after taking into account marks of a physics question, which the NTA had said has two correct answers.

“The re-revised score cards are live now,” a senior NTA official said.

Forty-four out of the 67 candidates who were earlier declared toppers had scored full marks because of the marks awarded for that particular physics question. The number of toppers was later reduced to 61 with the agency withdrawing grace marks awarded to six candidates to make up for loss of time at few exam centres.

In a major setback to unsuccessful aspirants of NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the pleas seeking cancellation and re-test of the controversy-ridden exam, holding that there was no evidence on record to conclude that it was “vitiated” on account of “systemic breach” of its sanctity.

The verdict came as a shot in the arm for the embattled NDA government and the National Testing Agency (NTA), which were facing strong criticism and protests, on streets and in Parliament, over alleged large-scale malpractices like question paper leak, fraud and impersonation in the prestigious test held on May 5.

Panasonic Scholarship 2024: Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND) is pleased to announce the launch of the Panasonics Ratti Chhatr Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25. This initiative aims to support meritorious students enrolling in B.E./B.Tech. programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Amid NEET UG row, Centre dismisses paper leakage in recruitment examinations conducted by UPSC, SSC and more

Union MoS for Personnel Jitendra Singh said no event of paper leakage was reported in the recruitment examinations conducted by UPSC, SSC, RRB or IBPS.

There has been no incidence paper leakage reported in the recruitment examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), during the last two years, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday

“Recently, National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted NEET(UG) examination on May 5, 2024 in OMR (Pen and paper) mode. Certain cases of alleged irregularities/cheating/impersonation/malpractices were reported,” Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply.

After review, the matter was entrusted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for comprehensive investigation on June 22, 2024, he said.

“No incidence/event of paper leakage has been reported in the recruitment examinations conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), during the last two years,” Singh said.

In order to provide for prevention of unfair means in public examinations, the government has enacted the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair means) Act, 2024, which has been brought into force vide and subsequently rules under this law have also been notified, he added.

– July 26-27: A brief spell of rain and thundershowers is expected at isolated places in the Kashmir Division, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers scattered across the Jammu Division.
– July 28-31: Generally cloudy skies will dominate, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at scattered to fairly widespread places in the Kashmir Division and widespread places in the Jammu Division.
– August 1-4: The weather will remain generally cloudy, with spells of intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places in the Kashmir Division and most places in the Jammu Division.
