GMC Anantnag accredited with 4 additional PG DNB seats in General Surgery

Anantnag, Jun 12 (KNO): The Department of General Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has received accreditation for four additional Post Graduate DNB seats from the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi.

This new development brings the total number of DNB seats in the General Surgery Department to six, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads.

Dr. Nazir Wani, Head of the Department of General Surgery, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating that the addition of four more seats will enhance patient care delivery and bolster the academic and research activities within the department.

“Our department is actively engaged in performing a wide range of surgeries, including trauma surgeries, general surgeries, urological procedures, gastrointestinal surgeries, and oncosurgeries, among others,” Dr. Wani elaborated.

Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, congratulated the Department of General Surgery on this milestone. She emphasized that the addition of these four DNB seats will contribute significantly to the overall growth of the institution. “With these new additions, the total number of DNB seats across various clinical and non-clinical departments at GMC Anantnag has risen to 68 for the current session,” Prof. Najeeb announced.

NEET UG Result 2024: NTA Addresses FAQs and Clarifies Compensatory Marks Calculation

The FAQs were released to clarify the allegations and concerns regarding the conduct of the exam, rewarding of marks, compensatory marks and more.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET (UG), the results of which were declared on June 4, 2024. The FAQs were released to clarify the allegations and concerns regarding the conduct of the exam, rewarding of marks, compensatory marks and more.

Compensatory Marks Calculation

Many applicants and stakeholders had raised concerns over the compensatory marks that were awarded to a few students who appeared for the NEET UG 2024 examination due to the loss of time at their exam centres.

NTA mentioned that few Writ Petitions were filed by the candidates of NEET (UG) – 2024 before the Hon’ble High Courts for loss of exam time in the NEET (UG) – 2024 exam at few Centres. Accordingly, a Grievance Redressal Committee was formed which looked into the concerns and verified CCTV footage from the concerned exam centres. To compensate for the loss of time for such candidates, they were compensated with compensatory marks.

“The loss of examination time was ascertained and such candidates were compensated with marks based on their answering efficiency and time lost, as per the mechanism/ formula established by the Hon’ble Apex Court, vide its judgment dated 13.06.2018 in W.P. 551 of 2018. 1563 candidates were compensated for the loss of time,” mentioned NTA in the release.

Role of NTA

Regarding the role of NTA in NEET UG 2024, NTA said that the agency’s responsibility is to conduct the examination and declare the result based on the eligibility criteria provided by NMC. “The candidates submitted their category as per the National Category List and based on the same the result has been declared. The NTA has provided All India Rank to the candidates and the admitting Authorities will draw a merit list based on All India Rank for the seats of MBBS/BDS, etc. falling under their jurisdiction. When candidates apply to their State, they will mention their category as per the State Category List. State Counselling Authorities will accordingly make their Merit List. The same is the case with the domicile,” replied NTA.

NEET UG 2024 was conducted in 13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) for more than 24 lakh candidates in 571 cities including 14 cities outside the country Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait City, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Singapore.

JKSSB Announces Results for Urdu Descriptive Exam for Patwari Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced the results of the written examination for the Urdu Paper (Descriptive) conducted for the posts of Patwari in the Revenue Department. This examination was held on March 31, 2024, as part of the recruitment process for 142 Patwari positions, advertised under Notification No. 02 of 2021 dated March 26, 2021.

– Notification Reference: JKSSB-COEOEXAM/10/2022-04 (7055504) dated January 2, 2024.
– Qualification Criteria:
– Candidates from the Open Merit (OM) category needed to score at least 40% overall, with a minimum of 33% in both the Reading and Writing sections.
– Candidates from other categories needed at least 35% overall, with a minimum of 33% in both sections to be considered as having “working knowledge of Urdu.”

– Submission Period: Objections can be submitted within three working days starting from June 13, 2024.
– Submission Mode: Only offline submissions are accepted at the JKSSB offices in CPO Chowk, Panjtirthi, Jammu, or the JKSSB Zamzam Building in Rambagh, Srinagar, during office hours.

Candidates will not receive individual notifications regarding the acceptance or non-acceptance of their objections.

CUK announces summer vacation from July 12-21

Srinagar, Jun 12: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Wednesday said that it will observe summer vacation from July-12 to July-21.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the decision was taken based on the resolutions passed in the deans meeting and subsequent approval of the competent authorities.

”The summer break for the academic year 2024 will be observed from 12th July 2024 to 21st July, 2024,” read the circular issued by CUK.

It states that the summer break will serve also as preparation days for ensuing examinations of the students. “Heads of Departments (HoDs) and Coordinators are required to arrange online and remedial classes during the summer break if required.”—(KNO)
