NEET UG 2024 Result Outcry: Medical Students Claim NTA NEET Result as Scam

NEET UG Result 2024 Discrepancies: Know Why Medical Students Are Calling NTA NEET Result A Scam

A total of 67 candidates secured the All India NEET Rank 1 in the single largest medical entrance exam.

NEET UG Result 2024 Discrepancies: Following the declaration of the NEET UG Result 2024, candidates, opposition parties, and academicians have begun calling for justice. Although the NEET Result was scheduled to be announced on June 14, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the scorecard on June 4 — the same day the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha was scheduled to take place. Several students, parents, guardians, and other subject experts alleged that the NEET paper was leaked on social media platforms, following which the students demanded the cancellation of the medical entrance examination. The aspirants demanded re-examination; however, dismissing the NEET Paper Leaks, the National Testing Agency released an important notice stating that the social media posts pointing towards any paper leak are completely baseless and without any ground.

“It has been ascertained from NTA’s security protocols and Standard Operating Procedures that the Social Media Posts pointing towards any paper leak are completely baseless and without any ground. To put rumours to rest, it is also stated that every single Question Paper (QP) has been accounted for. Further, it is also to be noted that after the gates of the Examination Centres are closed, no one from outside is permitted access inside the Halls which are under CCTV surveillance,” NTA in an official notice said.

NEET UG Result 2024 Discrepancies: 8 Students From Same Centre Secure 720 Marks: Report

Tensions escalated when the NTA declared the NEET UG Result on Tuesday(June 4). A total of 67 candidates secured the All India NEET Rank 1 in the single largest medical entrance exam. They secured 99.997129 percentile. However, while sharing the screenshot of the NEET Merit list on the social media platform, the students claim that eight students from the same centre secured perfect scores of 720 in the examination.

NEET UG Result 2024 Discrepancies: Need answers from government: Opposition

Sharing a post on X, Congress member Supriya Shrinate wrote, “Huge controversy over NEET results. For the first time 67 students scored 720 out of 720 marks i.e. 100%. 8 of these students were from the same centre. This is the first time that such a large number of students have scored 100%, before this only 4 students had achieved this feat. Remember, the NEET 2024 exam was held on May 5, the result of which was to be declared on June 14.  But these results were announced 10 days earlier, on 4 June, the day when the Lok Sabha election results were being announced. Many questions are being raised on the National Testing Agency (NTA), the government agency that conducts the exam. Application window was opened on 9th & 10th April, exactly 24 days before the exam.  Now the question is why was this done, how many children filled the form then, how many of them were from which centre, how many of them got selected? There is a demand to make their roll numbers public. First the news of NEET paper leak and now the error in the result is ruining the future of lakhs of youth of the country need answer from government.”

Taking to X, the Indian National Congress (INC) wrote,” After the NEET exam, now the NEET result is also in controversy. After the NEET results were declared, questions are being raised on 6 students from the same centre getting 720 out of 720 marks. Apart from this, many other irregularities related to NEET exam have also come to light. First due to paper leak and now due to result error, the future of lakhs of youth of the country is getting ruined. It is clear that this government cannot get any paper done without leaking it. Sir claims to stop wars in foreign countries but he is unable to even stop paper leaks in the country.”

Sharing a post on X, a user wrote,” NTA must answer the questions of NEET aspirants. Out of 67 students who scored 720/720, 6 had sequential seat numbers and were from Haryana. How is it possible? Are these students who have seat numbers from the same sequence given exam at same center? This must be investigated.”

Social and Political Activist Dr Vivek Pandey took to X and wrote, “Our students Sagar, Rishabh kumar, Sonal chaudhary. Went to education ministry today to submit memorandum on #NEET 2024 irregularities Neet paper leak, cheating, impersonation & now grace marks affected merit alot. Student want justice.”

J&K Residents to Soon Elect Their Government: CEC

J&K people will soon get a chance to elect their Govt: CEC

‘We wanted one good election to bring people out’

Large enthusiasm witnessed among voters

Jammu, June 7: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar today said that the Commission will shortly give a chance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to elect their Government.

“We will give the people an opportunity to form their Government and choose their representatives as per their choice as soon as possible,” Kumar told reporters in New Delhi today.

Asserting that Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are due, the Chief Election Commissioner said when they visited the Union Territory on March 12, he had dropped hint that they will hold the elections at an appropriate time.

“We wanted one good election in Jammu and Kashmir to bring people out (to cast votes). People came out in large numbers there (in recently conducted Parliamentary polls),” he said, adding now the Commission will give the people a chance to elect their representatives and the Government soon.

Kumar said there was large enthusiasm among the people about voting in Jammu and Kashmir.

It may be mentioned here that voting percentage in Jammu and Kashmir has broken record of four decades. While Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats are known for good turnouts; Baramulla, Anantnag and Srinagar also recorded impressive polling percentage this time.

CEC Rajiv Kumar had earlier also stated that Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir shortly after successful conduct of Parliamentary polls.

The Supreme Court while upholding abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on December 11, 2023, had directed the Election Commission to conduct Assembly elections in the Union Territory before September 30, 2024.

Last Assembly polls in J&K were held in November-December 2014. The UT has 90-seat Assembly. Plus, there are 24 seats reserved for Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) in the Assembly. There is also a provision for nomination of five MLAs including two Women, two Kashmiri migrants, one of them a woman, and a PoJK refugee.

PTI adds: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu handed over the list of candidates who won the Lok Sabha elections to President Droupadi Murmu.

Accepting the recommendation of the Union Cabinet, the President had ordered the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a voter turnout of 65.79 per cent was recorded in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, but the final figures may change as it does not include postal ballots, the Election Commission said.

Kumar had earlier said a total of 64.2 crore voters had exercised their franchise.

In the 2019 Parliamentary polls, the turnout was 67.40 per cent.
In 2019, India had 91.20 crore voters and out of these, 61.5 had exercised their franchise. In the 2024 polls, the size of the electorate grew to 96.88 crore voters.

“Overall, 65.79 per cent voter turnout recorded in general elections, 2024, at the polling stations,” the Election Commission said in a statement.

The Commission said detailed statistical reports having number of postal votes and gross voter turnout will be made available after finalisation of details, as received from States and Union Territories in due course according to standard practice.

The women voter turnout was more than that of men in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections held on June 1, according to the EC data. The women voter turnout was 64.72 per cent while that of men was 63.11 per cent. The turnout of persons of the third gender was 22.33 per cent, the data showed.

The overall voter turnout of the 2024 general election was 65.79 per cent, it said.

In the seventh phase, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh were among the States that had a higher women voter turnout.

In Himachal Pradesh, the turnout of women voters was 72.64 per cent while that of men was 69.19 per cent, it was 73.75 per cent for women and 68.10 per cent for men in Jharkhand and it was 76.50 per cent for women and 72.42 per cent for men in Odisha.

In a communication to the Union Cabinet Secretary and State Chief Secretaries, the Election Commission said as results of Lok Sabha elections and Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with some Assembly bypolls have been declared, “Model Code of Conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect”.–(Daily Excelsior)

Eid ul Adha 2024: Procedure of Dhul Hijjah moon sighting for determining date of Bakreid

Traditionally, Muslim communities rely on eyewitness testimonies from reliable sources to confirm the sighting of the new moon where local religious authorities or committees often oversee the process and skilled observers are appointed to look for the crescent moon shortly after sunset on the 29th day of the preceding Islamic month. If the moon is sighted and confirmed by these individuals, the announcement of the onset of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah (the twelfth or last month of the Islamic or lunar calendar) is announced and simultaneously, the date of Eid-ul-Adha is declared.

However, if the moon is not sighted, the month of Dhul Hijjah is extended by a day and the moon sighting process is repeated on the following evening after maghrib prayers. In recent years, advancements in technology have facilitated the moon sighting process and many Muslims now use astronomical calculations and scientific data to predict the visibility of the moon accurately.

This approach combines traditional practices with scientific knowledge to determine the start of the Islamic month but it is important to note that different regions or communities may follow different methods and criteria for moon sighting. Some rely solely on local sightings while others consider global sightings or rely on official announcements from designated authorities however, the goal is to ensure the unity and consensus within the Muslim community regarding the start of important Islamic events such as Eid-ul-Adha.

After the first day of Dhul Hijjah is established, then the tenth of that month is calculated hence, the date of Eid ul Adha is different for different places. On a more elaborate note, Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, takes place from the 8th to the 12th of Dhul Hijjah where on 8th Dhul Hijjah (Yawm at-Tarwiyah), pilgrims begin their Hajj rituals; on 9th Dhul Hijjah (Yawm Arafat), the most significant day of Hajj, pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat to pray and seek forgiveness while on the day of Eid ul Adha i.e. 10th Dhul Hijjah (Yawm an-Nahr), pilgrims perform the ritual of animal sacrifice (Qurbani) to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.
