CUET UG 2024: Admit Cards Released for May 29th Exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the admit card for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 May 29 exam. The exams will be held at the Delhi and Silchar centres. Students set to appear in the examination can access their admit cards by visiting the official website.

Students can download their admit cards using their application number and date of birth as login credentials.

CUET UG Admit Card 2024: Steps To Download

Go to the official website, exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.

On the homepage, select the link titled “Download Admit Card 2024 (for exam scheduled on May 29).”

Input the credentials to log in and click on submit.

The CUET UG admit card will appear in a new window.

Verify and download the CUET UG 2024 admit card.

Print it out for further use.

CUET UG 2024: Admit Card Contains the Following Details

Earlier, the National Testing Agency  (NTA) had postponed the May 15 CUET UG 2024 exam for the Delhi centre and the May 24 exam for the Silchar centre to May 29 due to “unavoidable circumstances”.

UGC chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar on Friday stated, “For the test papers to be conducted on May 29, 2024, in Pen and Paper (OMR) mode, NTA will issue fresh Admit Cards for the concerned candidates either tonight or tomorrow.”

The CUET UG 2024 exam started on May 15. The exams are being conducted in pen-and-paper as well as computer-based modes.

Application Deadline Extended For Joint CSIR-UGC NET, Check Details

The deadline for filling the Joint CSIR UGC NET applications has been extended to May 27, 2024.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for the submission of online applications for Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam scheduled for June, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates can register for the exam by May 27, 2024. The application process will continue upto 11:50 pm on the last day. The previous date for the registration was May 21, 2024.

The application process for the CSIR-UGC NET started on May 1, 2024.

The deadline for the payment of exam fee has also been extended to May 27, 2024. The previous date for the submission of fee was May 23, 2024.

The correction window for making changes in the exam form will be operational from May 29-31, 2024. No changes have been made to the date of the exam. The test will be held from June 25-27, 2024.

Joint CSIR UGC NET is a test conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor and admission to PhD in Indian universities and colleges subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC.

The fellowship programme is aimed at National Science and Technology Human Resource Development. A large number of JRFs are awarded each year by CSIR to candidates after qualifying the test conducted by it.

MeT says ‘heatwave’ to continue for 3 more days as night temp rises in J&K

Srinagar, May 26(GNS): Amid forecast for continuation of “heatwave” in plains of both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, night temperature recorded an increase in J&K on Sunday, officials said.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that generally dry weather is expected till May 28 even through possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places cannot be ruled out.

From May 29-31, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder is likely at isolated places towards afternoon.

Overall, he said, there is no significant weather activity expected till the end of this month.

“Heat wave over plains of Jammu & Kashmir divisions and hot & dry weather is likely over hilly districts during next three days,” he said, adding, “People should avoid heat exposure and drink lot of fluid and water.”

Meanwhile, night temperature also continued to stay above normal with Srinagar recording a low of 15.7°C against 13.8°C on the previous night and it was 3.7°C above normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 12.6°C against 10.4°C on the previous night and it was 1.9°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 8.3°C against 7.3°C on the previous night and it was 2.2°C normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 13.2°C against 11.1°C and it was 2.6°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a minimum of 11.5°C against 11.3°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.9°C for the place, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 11.0°C against 9.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 3.9°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a low of 24.5°C against 22.4°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 0.4°C for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 15.0°C, Batote 18.4°C and Bhaderwah 15.4°C, he said. (GNS)

JK Board of Professional Entrance Examinations Reopens Application Portal for B.E/B.Tech Engineering Courses

The J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has reopened the registration portal for filling up of online application forms for admission to B.E/B.Tech Engineering Courses-2024 in Government/Private Colleges of UT of J&K. The portal will be open from May 24, 2024 (from 01.00 PM) to May 26, 2024 (midnight).

This decision was made in response to the various representations received by the Board from various stakeholders.

The other terms and conditions/eligibility shall remain the same as notified in the Notification No. 020-BOPEE of 2024 dated 03-05-2024 and the e-Information Brochure.

JKSSB Reschedules Skill Test (Type Test) Examination for Kashmir Based Candidates

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has rescheduled the Skill Test (Type Test) Examination for Kashmir-based candidates. The exam was originally scheduled to be held on April 30, 2024, but has now been postponed to June 5, 2024.

The test will be held at NIELIT Srinagar. The admit cards that were already issued for the April 30th exam date will still be valid for the rescheduled date.

Candidates who are unable to appear for the test on June 5, 2024, will not be given another opportunity to take it.

The JKSSB has not announced any changes to the schedule for the Skill Test (Type Test) Examination for Jammu-based candidates.

Central University of Kashmir Extends Last Date for PG Programme Registration

The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) has extended the last date for registration for counselling to May 31, 2024, for admission to its various postgraduate (PG) programmes.

Who can apply

This extension applies to candidates who have appeared in the CUET-PG 2024 entrance exam and have preferred Central University of Kashmir for admission to any of the PG programmes offered by the university.

How to register

The registration process is online and can be done through the following link: https://cukashmircuet.samarth.edu.in/pg/

The detailed information brochure containing the list of programmes, eligibility criteria, selection procedure and other details is also available on the same link.

Registration fee

The registration fee is Rs. 200/- for General/UR category candidates and Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS/Women candidates.

₹5.36 lakhs cash was also recovered from official residence of SHO

Srinagar, May 25: On Friday, ACB traps and arrests Inspector Azim Iqbal Khan, SHO Police Station Pantha Chowk, Srinagar and his tout Mushtaq Ahmad Abassi for demanding bribe of ₹8 lakh.

According to a statement Anti-Corruption Bureau received a written complaint wherein it was alleged that Inspector Azim Khan, SHO Police Station, Pantha Chowk, Srinagar through his tout Mushtaq Ahmad is demanding ₹8.00 lakh as bribe for issuance of a report in an accident case to the complainant.

“ACB said on receipt of the written complaint, to verify genuineness of the allegations leveled in the complaint a discreet pre-trap verification was conducted by the Bureau which revealed that the complaint was genuine and based on the facts. Accordingly, on the recommendations of the verifying officer a case FIR No. 13/2024 under section 7 r/w sec 12 of the PC Act 1988 was registered in PS ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up,” it said.

The probe revealed that on 25.03.2024 an accident took place at Khanmoh stone quarry site where an excavator run by one Sameer Ahmad Najar was busy in excavating minerals when boulder came heavily on the Hydraulic Excavator and damaged it beyond repair and in the incident one labourer namely Mohd Mushtaq was grievously injured who later on succumbs to the injuries. To this effect PP Khanmoh sent a docket to SHO PS Pantha Chowk for registration of the FIR. Accordingly, FIR No. 26/2024 U/S 188 and 304-A IPC was registered and investigation was taken up by the said SHO himself. During the course of investigation the IO concerned (SHO) booked the operator of Hydraulic excavator and his other associate in the case FIR No.26/2024, also got excavator seized. Therefore, the actual owner of the excavator approached the Insurance company for release of insurance in his favour, the Insurance company assigned the job to Alak Consultancy, which deputed a surveyor to spot who after survey told the owner of the hydraulic excavator to submit a police report and copy of FIR for processing his insurance claim with respect to the excavator. The actual owner of the excavator approached SHO PS Pantha Chowk and also Hon’ble Court for releasing his machine (the Hydraulic Excavator). The Hon’ble Court also sought report from the SHO PS Pantha Chowk for releasing the excavator on two occasions firstly on 1-04-2024 and later on 22-05-2024 but SHO fail to furnish reports on both occasions despite delay in same. The probe revealed that SHO Azim Iqbal was deliberately delaying the matter and finally agreed to provide the requisite reports to applicant (complainant) through his tout Mushtaq Abassi only on the payment of bribe of ₹8 Lakh. Under compulsion the applicant was forced to pay bribe of ₹5.50 Lakh to SHO concerned but still failed to get the reports from them.

During the course of investigation by ACB, a trap team was constituted and SHO concerned namely Inspector Azim Iqbal and his tout namely Mushtaq Ahmad were apprehended red handed while demanding and accepting bribe from complainant inside the premises of the Police Station Pantha Chowk, Srinagar and the bribe amount of ₹1.5 lakh cash and a cheque of ₹50,000 were recovered from the official residence of the SHO. Further during search of the official room of the SHO , ₹5.36 lakhs cash was also recovered and seized on spot in presence of independent witnesses. Both the accused were arrested after completing all legal formalities and will be presented before Hon’ble Anti corruption court Srinagar, the statement said adding that further investigations of the case is going on.
