Indian Institute of Technology will close the JEE Advanced 2024 registration process on May 7, 2024. Candidates who want to apply for Joint Entrance Examination Advanced or IIT JEE can find the direct link on the official website of JEE Advanced at jeeadv.ac.in.

The last date for fee payment of registered candidates is till May 10, 2024.

The admit card will be available for download from May 17 and will be there on website till May 26, 2024. JEE Advanced 2024 examination will be conducted on May 26, 2024. The first shift will be conducted for Paper I from 9 am to 12 noon and second shift will be conducted for Paper 2 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

As per the official brochure, candidates who want to apply for the entrance test should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2024 to apply for IIT JEE examination. Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1999. The J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has released instructions for downloading admit cards for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to B.Pharma and D.Pharma courses for the 2024 academic session.

The exam is scheduled for May 19, 2024 (Sunday).

How to Download Admit Card

The admit cards will be available for download from May 11, 2024 (11:30 AM onwards) on the official website of BOPEE https://www.jkbopee.gov.in/.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates must affix a recent passport-sized photograph on the downloaded admit card if one is not already available.
  • Candidates must carry their admit card along with a valid ID proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport, or College/Employer ID) to the exam center.
  • Reporting time at the examination center is 8:45 AM.
  • By 9:30 AM, the invigilator will verify the identity of each candidate by comparing their photograph with the one on the admit card and attendance sheet.
  • At 9:45 AM, candidates will be given OMR answer sheets and asked to go through the instructions printed on them before filling in their details.

‘Constable also held for facilitating commission of offence’

Srinagar, May 07 (KNO): Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday said to have trapped and arrested Naib Tehsildar Khrew, Pulwama while a Constable was also held for allegedly facilitating the offence.

As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the spokesman said J&K Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint against Naib Tehsildar, Khrew, District Pulwama alleging therein that the said Naib-Tehsildar is demanding Rs 10,000 from complainant through his clerk namely Ajaz Ahmad for settlement of dispute of ancestral land at village Sathpokhran, Khrew Pulwama,

“The complainant approached the Tehsil Office Khrew several times for settlement of the dispute, but the Naib Tehsildar didn’t budge. Moreover the complainant has been harassed through Notices by the said Naib Tehsildar,” the statement said.

“The complainant approached ACB for taking necessary action against the said Naib-Tehsildar and his clerk namely Aijaz Ahmed. On receipt of the complaint, a case under FIR number 02/2024 under section 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Anantnag and investigation taken up,” the statement said.

During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused Maqbool Hussain Dar R/o Nooripor, Pattan presently posted as Naib Tehsildar, Khrew, District Pulwama red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant and the Sg Constable Ajaz Ahmad, attached with the Naib Tehsildar was also arrested for facilitating the commission of offence, the statement said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on—(KNO)

37 women to undertake holy pilgrimage without Mahram this year

Srinagar, May 07 (KNO): A total of 7008 Hajj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir will be embarking on the holy journey to Mecca and Madina this year, with first flight scheduled to leave Srinagar International Airport on May 09, officials said.

Executive officer of the J&K Haj Committee, Dr Shujhat Quershi, while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reiterated the committee’s dedication to ensuring a seamless experience for the pilgrims, affirming the exhaustive arrangements to facilitate the holy journey for pilgrims.

He said that a total of 7008 Hajj pilgrims will embark on the Hajj pilgrimage this year, of which around 6800 are going through Srinagar embarkation and over 500 through Delhi embarkation.

“6,852 pilgrims will be embarking from Srinagar, inclusive of those from Ladakh, while 541 pilgrims will depart from other airports, primarily Delhi airport. The departure of Haj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir will commence from May 09 and in the first batch there will be 320 Haj pilgrims”, he said.

Dr Quershi said that 37 women pilgrims will also undertake the sacred journey without a Mahram, with the majority embarking from Srinagar, and that the boarding passes to custom clearance, have been meticulously coordinated to ensure a hassle-free experience for the pilgrims and their families.

He said that the Haj House will serve as a focal point for all formalities, streamlining the process for the pilgrims’ convenience.

Dr Quershi said that the collaborative efforts across various departments, including health, security, and emergency services, will be in place and that the training sessions have also been conducted twice to equip pilgrims with essential information and guidance for their pilgrimage.

He added that this year’s pilgrimage will commence with a visit to Madina, with all pilgrims accommodated in Markaziya. He said enhancements have been made in Minha, with tents now strategically positioned in zones 2, 3, and 4, elevating the overall experience for the pilgrims—(KNO)

MeT forecasts mainly dry, ‘hot’ weather in J&K

Srinagar, May 7: Mainly dry and “hot” weather has been forecast over Jammu and Kashmir till May 10.

“Mainly dry and hot weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir,” said meteorological department here in a statement for the forecast during the next 24 hours and subsequent two days. However, the MeT department has said that thundershower activity during the afternoon can’t be ruled out at a few places till May 10.

On May 11, it said, there is forecast of partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder at a few places.

Generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow (over higher reaches) has been predicted at many places with thunder activity at few places on May 12.

On May 13, it said, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain at few places.

Regarding temperature, a MeT spokesperson told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 10.5°C against 11.2°C on the previous night and it was 0.2°C below normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 9.0°C, same as on the previous night and it was 0.2°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.8°C against 5.4°C on the previous night and it was 0.3°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 10.3°C against 9.7°C and it was 1.1°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a minimum of 8.6°C against 8.0°C on the previous night and it was 0.7°C below normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 7.6°C against 5.2°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 2.4°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a low of 22.1°C against 21.3°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 0.9°C for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 11.8°C, Batote 15.0°C and Bhaderwah 11.6°C, he said. (GNS)

CUET UG Admit Card 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the exam city intimation slip for the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate, CUET UG 2024.
Candidates who have registered for the entrance exam can check and download the intimation slip from the official website at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.
In a note on the website, the NTA as informed that City intimation slip for exams for subsequent days will be released released in a gradual manner.The note reads, “Kindly check your Photo, Signature and Barcode on your Advance City Intimation Slip. If any one is missing from Photo,S ignature and Barcode then kindly re-download because without Photo, Signature and Barcode your Advance City Intimation Slip is invalid.
The City Intimation slip for CBT mode examination i.e scheduled for 21, 22 and 24 May 2024, will be intimated later.”The CUET UG 2024 intimation slip includes details of the exam city to help the students in making their travel plans. About 13.48 lakh candidates will take part in the entrance test set to be conducted between May 15 and 24. NTA will hold CUET UG in 380 cities across the country including 26 cities outside India.

The CUET exam format allocates a specific number of questions and duration for each test section.
For all test papers, except the General Test, you will answer 40 questions out of 50 provided. The General Test offers 50 questions with the flexibility to choose 10 that you won’t attempt. Regarding exam duration, most test papers are allotted 45 minutes. However, some subjects require extended time: Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and the General Test. These extended exams will last 60 minutes.
