Pahalgam, Gulmarg Among Several Places Record Below Normal Night Temp

Srinagar, May 5 (GNS): Weather department here on Sunday forecast generally dry weather with possibility of thundershower activity in the afternoon at a few places till May 10.

“Generally dry weather is expected and thundershower activity during the afternoon can’t be ruled out at a few places,” he said.

On May 11, he said, there is forecast of partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain and thunder at few places.

Generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow (over higher reaches) has been predicted at many places with thunder activity at few places on May 12.

On May 13, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain at few places.

Regarding temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 11.2°C against 11.0°C on the previous night and it was 1.5°C above normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 11.6°C against 10.0°C on the previous night and it was 3.1°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 3.7°C against 6.1°C on the previous night and it was 1.2°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 10.3°C against 8.6°C and it was 1.9°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a minimum of 7.0°C against 9.4°C on the previous night and it was 1.4°C above normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 3.0°C against 3.5°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 1.3°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a low of 19.6°C against 22.1°C on the previous night and it was below normal by 3.0°C for the winter capital of J&K. Banihal recorded a low of 13.2°C, Batote 13.0°C and Bhaderwah 9.0°C, he said. (GNS)

JKBOPEE Announces Date for Common Entrance Test for B.Sc Nursing and Paramedical Courses

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has announced a revision in the date for the Common Entrance Test for admission to B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Paramedical, and B.Sc Technology courses for the year 2024. Initially slated tentatively for 12th May 2024, the examination will now be held on 26th May 2024. This change comes as an update to Notification No. 015-BOPEE of 2024 dated 29th March 2024, and Notice No. 004-BOPEE of 2024 dated 4th April 2024.

Candidates who have submitted their online application forms for these courses in Government/Private Colleges/Institutions of UT of Jammu and Kashmir should take note of this revised examination date. The examination will be conducted simultaneously in Jammu and Srinagar. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024) exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2024. The NTA NEET examination will be conducted in a single shift – from 2 pm to 5.20 pm across the country at various exam centres.

According to an official notification, more than 24 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the examination at different centers in 557 Cities throughout the country and 14 Cities Outside India.

NTA released a set of instructions for candidates to follow at the exam centre for the fair conduct of the examination. Candidates also need to go through the dress code that has been mentioned in the information bulletin released by the testing agency.

JK Bank reports highest-ever annual profit of Rs 1,767 crore for FY24

Srinagar, May 4: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Saturday reported its highest-ever annual profit at Rs 1,767 crore for 2023-24.

Its Managing Director and CEO Baldev Prakash said the net profit surged 48 per cent compared to the previous fiscal.

“Beating its own highest-ever record of profits achieved only last year, the net profit surged in fiscal 2023-24 by 48 per cent to achieve its record profit figure of Rs 1,767 crore,” Prakash told PTI after the bank’s annual results for FY 2023-24 were released bank here.

He said the bank will be sharing the historic profits with its shareholders by making the highest dividend payment of around Rs 236.75 crore this year.

The bank witnessed a 10 per cent increase in its total income to Rs 6,029.17 crore from Rs 5,502.09 crore.

It had posted a profit of Rs 1,197 crore last fiscal, which was the highest profit till last year.

Prakash said the bank’s asset quality has improved by bringing the gross non-performing assets to a decadal low of 4.08 per cent, while the net non-performing assets to 0.79 per cent.

With a provision coverage ratio (PCR) at 91.58 per cent, J and K Bank has reiterated its commitment to prudential provisioning and risk mitigation.

On the business growth, Prakash said the bank’s total deposits rose 10.44 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,34,774.89 crore as of March 31, 2024, from Rs 1,22,037.74 crore recorded a year ago.

Its net advances rose 14 per cent to Rs 93,762.51 crore in Q4 for FY2023-24 from Rs 82,285.45 crore a year ago.–(PTI)
