Mercury Drops As Rains Drench Kashmir, MeT Forecast More

Srinagar, March 29: Rains drenched most parts of Jammu and Kashmir with Srinagar receiving highest rainfall in the last 24 hours even as temperature recorded a drop on Friday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS Srinagar received 25.2mm of rain during the time till 0830 hours followed by Banihal (20.4mm), Pahalgam (17.8mm), Gulmarg (17.6mm), Qazigund (13.0mm), Kokernag (11.0mm), Kupwara (8.9mm), Bhaderwah (8.6mm), Batote (4.8mm), Katra (3.6mm) and Jammu (1.7mm).

Regarding night temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 8.2°C against 9.8°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 2.1°C for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 8.4°C against 9.8°C on the previous night and it was 3.7°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.0°C, same as on the previous night and it was 3.4°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 7.7°C against 9.1°C on the previous night and it was 3.0°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a low of 7.3°C against 9.5°C on the previous night and it was 2.8°C above normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 0.4°C against 3.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 1.2°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a minimum of 19.6°C and it was above normal by 3.0°C for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal recorded a low of 10.4°C, Batote 10.1°C and Bhaderwah 9.6°C, he said.

With regard to the forecast, he said, fairly widespread light to moderate

rain/snow/TS is expected over Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours.

On March 31, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain/snow is expected at a few places. Generally dry weather has been forecast thereafter till April 5. (GNS)

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has provided a last chance for candidates who were called for document verification for the post of Deputy Inspector/Equivalent, Animal/Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries Department, Divisional Cadre, to appear before the Document Verification Committee.

The candidates who could not appear before the committee on March 26, 2024, can now appear on April 2, 2024 (Tuesday) from 10.00 AM to 02.00 PM.

The venue for the document verification is:

The University of Kashmir has announced a supplementary list of selected students for hostel accommodation in the Boys Hostels of the University (Main and Zakura Campus).

The selected students are directed to approach the office of the Provost to collect authority slips and submit the same in the Warden offices of the Hostels allotted to them and other required formalities by 10th April, 2024. The accommodation in the corresponding Hostels is subject to the available vacancies and the vacancies created in due course of time by leaving of 4th semester students of various PG courses from respective hostels.

Srinagar, Mar 28: A novel addition to the beauty of Dal Lake in Srinagar has stirred excitement among tourists and locals alike.

The introduction of ‘Aqua Cycle’, a unique recreational activity, promises to add a new dimension to the experience of exploring the iconic lake.

Sharing details about the newly launched Aqua Cycle, Tahzeem, the person who operates and manages it at the Lake told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the response to Aqua Cycle from visitors and locals has been good. “Till now, the response has been good amid Ramadan,” he said.

They added that the initiative aims to diversify the tourist offerings in the region while promoting eco-friendly leisure activities.

JKSCERT Revised 8th Date sheet 2024 check new dates here

JKSCERT issues revised date sheet for 8th standard

Srinagar, Mar 28: The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT) Thursday issued revised date sheet for Middle Standard Examination for soft and hard zone of session 2023-24.

The examination in both soft and hard zones will commence from April-02 and will culminate on April-15.

JKSCERT said that the timing has been preponed from 11.00 AM to 10.00 AM for commencement of the Middle Standard Examination 2023-24.

It suggested the students to take their examination at the already notified examination Centres on the above dates well in time.

JKBOSE Reschedules Class 11th and Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th Annual Regular 2024 Exams

Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Reschedules Examinations

The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced the rescheduling of upcoming examinations for Class 11th Annual Regular 2024 (Soft Zone) and Annual Regular 2024 examinations for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th (Hard Zone Area). This decision comes in response to various factors including directions from the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, UT of J&K, Jammu, regarding the schedule for the Lok Sabha Election 2024, and the upcoming Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2024, session 2, conducted by the National Testing Agency.

The board received directives from the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, UT of J&K, Jammu, urging them to ensure that examination dates do not clash with the dates of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 in the UT of J&K. Additionally, the National Testing Agency’s Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2024, session 2, is scheduled to take place from April 4 to April 15, 2024.

In response to numerous representations from students, the board has decided to reschedule the examinations to accommodate these concerns. The revised examination dates will now be conducted in two sessions, morning and evening shifts, to facilitate a smooth conduct of the exams.

All concerned parties are advised to refer to the revised date sheets provided as Annexures “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D” attached with this notification. It is important to note that the previously issued date sheets for these examinations stand cancelled.
