TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 24-03-2024, 1700 hrs. to 25-03-2024, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 03 HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Panthyal, Nachlana, Shalgarhi etc. and poor surface condition of road at many places between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. Load carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are requested to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is single lane traffic and poor condition of road at Dalwas on Jammu Srinagar NHW.

4. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW

5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 26-03-2024:- Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice- versa. However, HMVs shall be managed on regulated manner after assessing the road condition.

Cut off timing for LMVs in view of single road at Dalwas:- (subject to change depending on road condition) from Nagrota (Jammu) 0600 hrs to 1100 hrs from Jakheni (Udhampur) 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs & from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0600 hrs to 1100 hrs No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

SFs Convoy Movement:-

Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

SSG ROAD

Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies), only one way traffic for LMVs 4X4 (passenger/Load carrier) from Kargil towards Srinagar shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg at 0930 hrs upto 1300 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. No vehicle shall be allowed without anti skid chain/after cut off timing. No movement of passenger vehicle shall be allowed on SSG Road till the road is fully operational.

Mughal Road:-

Bhaderwah-Chamba road:-

Srinagar, Mar 25 : The repeated changes in the examination schedule for class 8 students have stirred frustration among 1.75 lakh students, disrupting their preparations and casting uncertainty over their academic endeavors.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) initially slated to commence on March 5, the exam’s commencement was rescheduled to March 13, only to encounter further alterations after the completion of two subjects.

Responsibility for overseeing the smooth execution of the class 8 examinations rests with the Jammu and Kashmir State Center for Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT). However, inadequate planning has resulted in confusion and dissatisfaction among students. Following examinations conducted on March 13 and 22 in the Soft Zone, papers slated for March 24, 26, and 29 have been deferred.

Expressing dismay over the frequent changes, class 8 students highlighted the adverse impact on students’ preparation, with shifting exam dates disrupting their study routines.

An official from SCERT attributed the scheduling challenges to rushed decision-making processes. With class 10th and 12th board exams scheduled for March, logistical constraints including exam center availability and invigilator arrangements posed significant hurdles. Such constraints even necessitated examinations being held on Sundays.

Efforts to clarify the rationale behind the fluctuating exam dates proved futile, as SCERT Director Prof. Parikshit Singh’s attempts to reach Manhas for clarification went unanswered despite repeated attempts—(KNO)

Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNO): The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has sought strict compliance of Modal Code of Conduct (MCC) by Chief Education Officers (CEOs).

In a communication addressed to all the CEOs, the DSEK has stated that the instructions have been issued following the office memorandum received from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the strict adherence to the MCC as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“The action taken report may kindly be shared with this Directorate accordingly,” the official communication reads.

Earlier, the General Administration Department (GAD) issued an official communication to all the administrative secretaries for strict compliance of the instructions issued by Election Commission of India regarding strict implementation of the MCC guidelines.

The communication was issued after the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), through a communication asked all the administrative secretaries to ensure strict compliance of the instructions of model code of conduct for the guidance of political parties, candidates and other related guidelines.

“The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) instructions may be read in context of the requirement of the department concerned and followed in letter and spirit. The compliance report be sent on the email if of the CEO specifying the subject clearly Model Code of Conduct in bold letters,” reads a communication issued from CEO to all administrative secretaries.

Notably, the ECI on March 16 of 2024 announced schedule for Lok Sabha elections while the voting will begin from April 19 in seven phases. The notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 was issued on March 20 of 2-024.

The voting for 102 Lok Sabha constituencies across 17 states and four Union territories will take place on April 19, the ECI has said—(KNO)

Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNO): The selection list of Associate Professors, declared in November last year by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), is yet to be forwarded to Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department (JKHED), that has left candidates depressed and distraught.

Selected candidates while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that selection list of Assistant Professors in seven subjects including Botany, Political Science, Urdu, Sociology, Electronic Science, Geology and Hindi were announced from October 17 to November 08 last year.

They said that they have been eagerly waiting for the last five months but unfortunately, the list is not being forwarded to the concerned department.

Bilal Ahmad, one of the selected Assistant Professor told KNO that 23 candidates were selected in Botany followed by 11 in Political Science, Urdu 19, Sociology 26, Hindi 13, Electronic Science 8 and Geology 7.

He said that firstly there was no Chairman of JKPSC for months together and that was being said to be the reason for the delay behind not forwarding the list to the concerned department. He said that around one month has passed since new Chairman took over, but the list has not been forwarded to the concerned department.

“The selected candidates are highly depressed and distraught due to the prolonged delay caused by JKPSC for the recommendations of these lists to JKHED,” they added.

“Whenever candidates try to approach the concerned officials of JKPSC, every time they respond by saying that it will be done within a week,” they said.

They have sought attention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chairman JKPSC in this regard—(KNO)

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced notification for a total of 4660 vacancies in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Indian Railways. Out of the total, 4208 vacancies are for Constable and 452 for Sub Inspector.

The RRB has released the notification that read, “An Indicative Employment Notice, No.RRB/SC/Advt./CEN RPF 01/2024 & RPF 02/2024, regarding Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. RPF 01/2024 for Recruitment of Sub-Inspectors and Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. RPF 02/2024 for Recruitment of Constables in Railway Protection Force and Railway Protection Special Force in Indian Railways, was published in Employment News / Rojgar Samachar (English / Hindi / Urdu) dated 02.03.2024. CBSE Informs Schools: NCERT Set to Roll Out Fresh Syllabus and Textbooks Solely for Classes 3 to 6

NCERT will release new syllabus and textbooks only for classes 3rd to 6th, CBSE said to schools.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release new syllabus and textbooks only for classes 3rd to 6th, and there will be no change in the Curriculum and textbooks for other classes for the academic year 2024-25 commencing from April 1, according to an official communication by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to its affiliated schools.

In a communique sent to all heads of Institutions affiliated to CBSE, the board on Friday said that the NCERT has informed it through a letter dated March 18 that new syllabi and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 are currently under development and will soon be released. It has advised the schools to follow these new syllabi and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 in place of textbooks published by the NCERT till the year 2023.

The council is preparing new school textbooks in line with the new national curriculum framework for school education (NCF-SE) 2023 as a part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. HT had on March 17 reported that the NCERT is unlikely to come up with textbooks for all classes ahead of this academic year, and it will continue with the existing rationalized textbooks for the majority of the classes.

“A bridge course for class 6, and concise guidelines for class 3 are being developed by NCERT for facilitating a seamless transition for students to new pedagogical practices and areas of study aligned with NCF-SE 2023. These resources will be disseminated to all the schools online once they are received from NCERT,” the CBSE said.

Besides, the Board will also organize capacity building programs for school heads and teachers to orient them with the new teaching learning perspectives as envisioned in NEP-2020, it added.

“There will be no change in the Curriculum and textbooks for other classes for the academic year 2024-25 commencing from 1st April 2024,” the board said.

The board has also advised the schools to follow the NCF- SE recommendations and incorporate methodologies such as Multilingualism, Art-Integrated Education, Experiential Learning, and Pedagogical Plans, wherever feasible.

“Schools are advised to align their practices with the recommendations delineated in NCF-SE-2023. This includes adherence to guidelines concerning content, pedagogical strategies, assessment methodologies, and other pertinent areas as communicated by the Board from time to time,” the board stated.

In 2022, NCERT had rationalised the syllabi of classes 6 to 12 to “reduce the content load” on students in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the changes, reflected in new textbooks published last year, the council had removed chapters on Mughal courts, 2002 Gujarat riots, cold war, references of Mughal emperors, and Emergency and periodic table. While the council maintained there was no selective omission of topics, the rationalisation exercise had created a political controversy with leaders from opposition parties alleging the ruling dispensation was “erasing history”.

Lok Sabha Elections: Dir Gen SSB Concludes 2-Day Visit To Review Operational Preparedness in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, Mar 25 (GNS): Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, IPS, undertook a comprehensive 2-day visit to the Kashmir Valley to assess the operational preparedness of SSB deployments ahead of the General Parliamentary Elections (GPE) 2024.

During his visit, the Director General inspected various key locations, starting with the Sector Headquarters (Spl-Ops) in Srinagar. The visiting officer received a detailed briefing on the functioning of SSB deployments in the Valley.

Addressing the Jawans during the ‘Sanik-Sammelan’ and participating in the ‘Bada Khana’, the DG, as per GNS, expressed his appreciation for their dedication and emphasised the importance of discipline in duty within the operational sector.

Chawdhary also visited the 10th Battalion SSB Batmaloo (Srinagar), 13TH Battalion SSB Dignibal (Ganderbal) and Ad-hoc Election Battalions of SSB in Valley, interacting directly with the deployed Jawans. He listened attentively to their concerns and issued on-spot directives for their resolution, reaffirming his commitment to their welfare. He joined in the Holi celebrations with the Jawans, showering colorful flowers and conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the SSB personnel and their families.

In addition to engaging with SSB personnel, the Director General met with senior police officers from Police, CAPFs and other agencies, stressing the necessity of complete synergy for the peaceful conduct of the GPE-24 and the forthcoming SANJY-2024.

Continuing his tour, the DG visited the NSG Detachment at Humhama, where he interacted with officials and officers. He reviewed NSG activities in the Valley and emphasized the importance of continuous training and adherence to standard drills to maintain preparedness for any contingency.

Accompanying the Director General were Sh. Imtiaz Ismail Parray, IPS, DIG, and other ground commanders of the SSB and NSG, underscoring the collaborative effort in ensuring security and stability in the region.

The visit concluded on March 25, 2024, with the Director General celebrating Holi Milan with Jawans of SSB & NSG at various locations, extending his warm greetings for Holi and Ramadan to them and their families. (GNS)

UGC’s Fresh List of Universities Offering Online and ODL Programs Released – Check Now

Some of these universities include Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur (Andhra Pradesh), Dibrugarh University (Assam), Panjab University (Chandigarh), and Jamia Millia Islamia (Delhi). The detailed list of HEIs can be viewed in the UGC Distance Education Bureau (DEB) notice on deb.ugc.ac.in/Search/Course.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a list of HEIs (Higher Educational Institutions) that have been approved to provide online and open and distance learning (ODL) programmes. As per the official notice, the UGC has sanctioned at least 80 universities to provide multiple online distance learning programmes.

In the notice, the UGC stated that the last date of admission for offering ODL and Online programmes is March 31, 2024, and the Last Date for Submission of Student Data on the Portal is April 15, 2O24.

Notably, the UGC pointed out that it had invited online applications from eligible Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) as per Regulation 3(A) and Regulation 3(B)(b) of UGC (Open and Distance learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2O2O and its amendments for recognition of Programmes under Open and Distance Leaming (ODL) mode.
