J&K Schools Set to Implement Digital Attendance System for Students

Srinagar- From the new academic session, attendance of students shall be recorded digitally and School Management system shall be in place for digital admission process. This was informed by Secretary School Education, Piyush Singla, who reviewed the progress on establishment of Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The initiative, which aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, is aimed at to ensure real-time monitoring of various projects and activities under the Samagra Shiksha program besides leveraging data and technology to bring a big leap in learning outcomes”, maintained the Secretary while assessing progress on creation of this vital utility in the region.

Piyush Singla said that setting up of VSK is an innovative project driven by the Prime Minister, being replicated across the country. VSK will cover data of all schools, students and teachers, for meaningful analysis through big data analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning, he added. He observed that monitoring dashboard along with integration of data analysis-based Call Management Utility and reporting system of VSK shall be helpful in creating a conducive ecosystem in the Education Department.

He said that, with the establishment of VSK, analyzing the areas for decision-making and implementation shall become easy. VSK shall increase accountability among all the field-level staff/ administrators, HoDs in monitoring the real-time status of various project components under the ambit of School Education, he maintained.

Secretary also asked the implementing partner to ensure deduplication of data at all the fronts. He reiterated that, tracking of student enrolment, progress in their learning levels, mainstreaming of out of school children, textbook delivery, support required by teachers and schools, etc should be integrated with the VSK. He also said that the aim is to have this state-of-the-art facility operational by February 2024, marking a significant milestone in our efforts to modernize and streamline the education system in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Piyush Singla also announced a targeted timeline for establishment of the Command-and-Control Centre (VSK) in Jammu and Kashmir as February, 2024 which shall be made completely operational by 1st of March, 2024. He informed that the Command and Control Centre is expected to enhance efficiency, communication, and data management, contributing to an improved educational experience for students and educators alike.

Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj, apprised the Secretary that VSK is a data repository, powered by Swift Chat AI (Artificial Intelligence), which would enable technology and data-driven systemic change in all schools of Jammu and Kashmir. He informed that, VSK shall be established temporarily in the JK BOSE building situated at Rehari Colony and shall be an iconic project for the UT of J&K. He said that the facility of VSK shall completely transform the education system across the UT. He further apprised that AI chat bots for students, teachers and parents have been created and shall be made live in the coming days for regular exercises, thus enhancing the learning outcome of students.

The meeting was attended by Special Secretary, Anu Behl, Joint Director Planning, Parshotam Kumar, DD Planning, Bilal Rashid among others stakeholders from the empaneled firm. (Kashmir Observer)

JKBOSE Important Circular for All Private Schools

Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education gives private schools another chance to submit affiliation extension files

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has given private high and higher secondary schools in the Union Territory (UT) another chance to submit their affiliation extension files.

In a circular issued on January 16, 2024, the JKBOSE said that a meeting of the UT level Affiliation Committee is scheduled to be held on January 29, 2024. In view of this, all the concerned academic institutions, whose affiliation expired during the previous academic sessions and whose Extension case files, if any, have been previously rejected, are afforded with an opportunity to submit their Extension case files with the requisite NOC’s/Safety Certificates and prescribed Affiliation fee, to this office latest by January 24, 2024, via the official website viz. www.jkbose.nic.in., so that the further legitimate processes as involved are undertaken under rules.

However, it may also be noted that the incomplete submission/documentation by the concerned academic institutions shall render them ineligible for grant/release of Board related facilities for the current academic session viz. 2023-2024, and the JKBOSE shall be at liberty to proceed accordingly.

The circular was issued by Tharo, Joint Secretary (General) of the JKBOSE.

This is the second time that the JKBOSE has given private schools a chance to submit their affiliation extension files. In November 2023, the Board had issued a similar circular, but many schools were unable to meet the deadline.

The JKBOSE has said that the affiliation of private schools is important for ensuring quality education in the UT. The Board has also said that it is committed to helping private schools meet the affiliation requirements.

It is hoped that this latest opportunity will give private schools the time they need to submit their affiliation extension files. The JKBOSE has said that it will process all applications received by January 24, 2024.

Here are some additional details from the circular:

  • The meeting of the UT level Affiliation Committee will be held on January 29, 2024.
  • Private schools that have their affiliation expired during the previous academic sessions can submit their Extension case files with the requisite NOC’s/Safety Certificates and prescribed Affiliation fee to the JKBOSE office by January 24, 2024.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • Schools that do not submit their applications by the deadline will not be eligible for Board related facilities for the current academic session.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 20-01-2024, 1700 hrs. to 21-01-2024, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 03 HMVs and poor surface condition of road at Dalwas and single lane traffic at Cafeteria- Mehad, Magerkote, Nachlana and Hingani between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

4. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 22-01-2024:-

Subject to fair weather and clearance of road (after green signal from NHAI), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs/Load Carriers shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

SFs Convoy Movement:-

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

SSG ROAD

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road shall be allowed from both sides viz Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa. LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 0830 hrs. to 1100 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1230 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timings.

SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil, shall leave Srinagar at 0800 hrs. SFs Convoy plying from Drass to Srinagar shall plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic doesn’t get disturbed.

Mughal Road:-

Tomorrow subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Mughal road shall be allowed from both sides viz. Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs. after green signal from road agencies.

People are advised to undertake journey on NH-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under.-

2. M.Sc Zoology 4th Semester Results:
– Notification No. 02 announces the results for the M.Sc Zoology 4th semester examination of Batch 2021, conducted in November 2023, catering to PG Non-Professional students.

3. B.P.T. 1st Year (Backlog) Results:

– On January 16th, 2024, the university released the outcomes for various non-professional UG programs, including M.Com, M.A Urdu, M.Sc Mathematics, M.A Islamic Studies, M.A English, M.A Education, and M.A Economics for the 1st semester Batch 2022, as well as Backlog Batches 2018-2021. These examinations took place in June-July 2023.

5. BG 2nd Semester NEP Examination and BG 5th Semester Re-Evaluation Results:
– On January 15th, 2024, the university declared the results for the BG 2nd Semester NEP Examination of Regular Batch 2022 held in July 2023 (UG Non-Professional). Additionally, Re-Evaluation results for BG 5th Semester Regular (Batch 2020) and Backlog (Batches 2016-19) held in May 2023 were also disclosed.

6. Integrated Math 2nd Semester and B.Ed 4th Semester Results:
– Results for Integrated Math 2nd semester batch 2021 and backlog batches examination of August 2022 for UG Professional students were announced on January 12th, 2024. Furthermore, B.Ed 4th semester examination results for the session October-November 2023 were released on the same date.

Srinagar, Jan 21 (GNS): Kashmir University on Sunday announced for postponement of all the examinations scheduled for Monday (tomorrow).

“All the examinations of University of Kashmir scheduled for 22nd of January, 2024 are hereby postponed”, reads a notification in this regard, as per GNS.

“Fresh date/s for the conduct of postponed papers shall be notified separately”, the notification reads further.

The varsity however didn’t specify any reasons’ for postponing the examinations. (GNS)

Srinagar, Jan 21 (KS): Education Jammu (DSEJ) Sunday, in view of extreme cold weather conditions, further extended the winter vacations for Jammu summer zone schools up to January 27, 2024.

“In view of prevailing extreme cold conditions and in continuation to previous orders, all the schools upto 12th class functioning in Summer Zones of Jammu Division shall observe vacations w.e.f. 22nd of January 2024 to 27th of January 2024”, reads an order, a copy of which lies with News Agency Kashmir Scroll.

“However, students practicing for participation in Republic Day celebrations shall continue to come for the rehearsal and the HOIs shall ensure that all the arrangements for the Republic Day Function are in place (including enthusiastic participation of the students).” It reads further.(KS)

Srinagar, Jan 21 (GNS): While three-quarters of ‘Chillai-Kalan’, the 40-day harsh period of winter, have elapsed without rain or snow, weatherman has forecast wet spell at isolated places in the final phase of it in Jammu and Kashmir.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that while dry weather was expected to continue till Wednesday; generally cloudy weather with light snow at isolated higher reaches was likely on January 24 and 25.

From January 27-28, he said, generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow over scattered places.

“There is possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at many places very likely (details awaited) from January 29-31,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said, moderate to dense fog and fall in day temperature over plains of Jammu division was likely during next two days.

Regarding night temperature, he said Srinagar recorded a low of minus 4.8°C against minus 3.7°C on previous night and it was 1.6°C below normal for the summer capital of J&K for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 5.0°C against minus 4.0°C on the previous night, he said. The minimum temperature was 1.1°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, the MeT official said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 6.5°C against minus 5.5°C on the previous night and it was 1.0°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 2.3°C against minus 2.0°C on the previous night and the temperature was above normal by 1.3°C for the place, the official said.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.7°C against minus 4.7°C on the previous night and it was 2.8°C below normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg, the official said, recorded a low of minus 5.0°C against minus 4.6°C on the previous night and the temperature was 3.2°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir.

Jammu, he said, recorded a minimum of 5.6°C against 5.9°C on the previous night, and it was below normal by 1.4°C for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal recorded a low of minus 1.2°C, Batote 1.7°C and Bhaderwah minus 0.4°C, he said.

Kashmir valley is under ‘Chillai-Kalan’, the 40-day harsh period of winter, which will end on January 29. However it does not mean an end to the winter. It is followed by a 20-day-long period called ‘Chillai-Khurd’ that occurs between January 30 and February 19 and a 10-day-long period ‘Chillai-Bachha’ (baby cold) which is from February 20 to March 1. Srinagar, Jan 21 (GNS): In wake of inauguration of Ram Mandir inauguration, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has declared a half-day public holiday on Monday.

“In continuation of Government Order No.1582-JK(GAD) of 2023 dated: 11.12.2023 and Government Order No. 1583-JK(GAD) of 2023 dated: 11.12.2023, it is hereby ordered that half-day public holiday (till 02:30 p.m.) shall be observed on 22nd of January, 2024, in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads an order, a copy of which lies with GNS.
