Will regularize all Casual Labourers in First 30 Days if Party Prevails in elections, Says Altaf Bukhari

Daily Spark Desk

Srinagar 27 Nov (DS): Apni party president Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari in a recent interview made a bold commitment to regularise all casual labourers within the first 30 days of his party coming into power.

Altaf Bukhari in a recent interview with The Typewriter said, we will regularise all casual labourers within the first 30 days if our party comes into power.

This statement comes at a time when the issue of casual labourers has been a hot topic from past many years.

Bukhari didn’t stop at this promise, he also took a strong stance against the current government, accusing them of manipulating tensions to maintain their grip on power. He claimed that the government is ‘joking with people’ and intentionally keeping the situation tense.

Bukhari was satisfied with the government’s new slogan ‘Naya Kashmir’, where Bukhari said that a peaceful environment with no hartals and stone pelting is a clear example of Naya Kashmir.

Bukhari at a same time was seen attacking current government saying that, the administrative management policy is still harboring anti-Kashmir sentiments.

Critics argue that the policy does not adequately address the unique issues and concerns of Jammu and Kashmir, thus perpetuating a sense of alienation, he said.

If ‘Naya Kashmir’ needs to truly emerge, there needs to be a shift in the administrative approach towards their policies that cater to the specific needs and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, Bukhari said. (DS — Daily Spark)

Government Boosts Power Reserves with 500 MW Purchase to Address Winter Demand Surge

Government To Purchase Additional 500 MW of Power To Meet the Winter Demand

Jammu, November 26: (GNS) Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, gave its approval for purchase of additional energy of 500 MW of firm power from Ministry of Power (MOP)to meet Base Load power requirement of the UT.
Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary and Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari,Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.

The AC assents for allocation of additional 500 MW of firm power from MOP in B(v) mode(procurement being done by PFC)to meet Base Load power requirement essentially required to meet the winter demand.

The availability in winter reduces due to high proportion of hydropower in the UT. In order to bridge this gap between demand and availability of power during winter months AC approved signing of fresh Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)by J&K Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) with NTPC regardingSingrauli-III run by NTPC.

This will subside the energy demand in J&Kwhich is increasing at a CAGR of 10%. Singrauli-II being athermal power station is a must run station, due to which itspower supports J&K’s power requirement during winter when the generation from hydro generators of ISGS reduces to150-300 MW only i.e. a reduction of 70-90% of summer generation.

As such, it will increase its availability by signing new Power Purchase Agreement of JKPCL with NTPC regarding Singrauli-III which would help the UT in tiding over the power shortage faced by it during the lean winter season, reads the statement.(GNS)
