Rajya Sabha Battle Now Between NC and BJP, Urges Opposition Unity After Sajad Lone’s Exit: Omar Abdullah

Rajya Sabha polls direct contest between NC and BJP: CM Omar

Says Sajad Lone’s withdrawal would benefit BJP only, Urges opposition parties to get united against BJP

Baramulla, Oct 14: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the Rajya Sabha election is a direct contest between the National Conference and the Bharatiya Janata Party, urging opposition parties to get united against the saffron party.

Speaking with reporters in Baramulla, the Chief Minister, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said People’s Conference chairman Sajad Lone’s decision to stay away from polls would only benefit the BJP. “You and I know who will benefit from this. I appeal to others not to stay away. This is a direct contest between NC and BJP. Not voting for NC means helping the BJP,”3 he said.

CM Omar urged all opposition parties, including the PDP and Congress, to stay united and vote strategically to ensure BJP’s defeat. “If the aim is to stop the BJP, every party must contribute. Staying out of the field only weakens the fight”, he said.

On reports of friction within the INDIA bloc, the Chief Minister clarified that the alliance with Congress remains intact. “We did not want to field our candidate on the fourth seat. We wanted Congress to contest because that would have given us the best chance to win. But Congress chose not to fight, so we had to nominate our candidate there as well,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that the National Conference remains committed to strengthening the alliance spirit, ensuring BJP’s loss on all three seats. “Our goal is clear. The BJP must be defeated and we will fight for that on every seat”, he said—(KNO)

Kashmir University Extends FYUGP Admission Dates 2025 — Apply Till October 16

The University of Kashmir has once again extended the deadline for submission of online application forms for admission to the Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) in its private affiliated colleges for the academic session 2025–26.

As per the latest notification (Extension Notice-VI) issued by the Office of the Dean, College Development Council, the university has announced that the online admission link shall remain open from October 14, 2025, to October 16, 2025.

This decision has been taken to provide an additional opportunity to students who could not complete their application process earlier. The extension ensures that all eligible candidates get a fair chance to apply for the various undergraduate courses offered under the newly implemented FYUGP system, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Extension Notice-VI Details

The official notice states:

“In continuation to this office notification of even number dated June 19, 2025, the link for submission of online application forms for admission to Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) in private affiliated colleges for the session 2025–26 shall remain open from 14th October, 2025 to 16th October, 2025. The candidates desirous to seek admission to different courses available for admission can apply during the above extended period.”

The notification further instructs that candidates applying for admission must submit hard copies of their application forms at their respective colleges during office hours up to October 16, 2025.

All other terms and conditions regarding eligibility, course structure, and selection criteria shall remain unchanged as per the earlier notifications issued by the university.

What is FYUGP?

The Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) is part of the academic reforms introduced under the National Education Policy 2020. It aims to provide a flexible, multidisciplinary education system with multiple exit options and holistic development opportunities for students.

Under the FYUGP, students can choose from a wide range of disciplines, and the program is structured in a way that allows:

  • Multiple Exit Options: Students can exit after one, two, three, or four years with different qualifications — Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree with Research.
  • Skill Development: Focus on vocational and skill-based courses to enhance employability.
  • Flexibility: Students can opt for interdisciplinary and minor subjects along with their core course.
  • Research Orientation: The fourth year of study allows for research opportunities and advanced specialization in the chosen field.

Who Can Apply for FYUGP 2025 at Kashmir University?

Students who have successfully passed their Higher Secondary (10+2) examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board are eligible to apply for admission to the FYUGP 2025 in private affiliated colleges under the University of Kashmir.

The courses are open to students from various streams — Arts, Science, Commerce, Social Sciences, and Vocational disciplines — depending on the college and course availability.

The university has directed all interested candidates to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria mentioned in the official admission notification before applying.

Application Process for Kashmir University FYUGP Admission 2025

The application process for the FYUGP session 2025–26 is conducted entirely online through the official website of the University of Kashmir.

  7. Submit and Print: Submit the form and download the printout for submission at the respective college.

The last date for online submission and submission of hard copies is October 16, 2025, as per the latest extension notice.

Documents Required

Applicants should keep the following documents ready while applying:

  • Provisional/character certificate
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Scanned signature
  • Valid ID proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID, etc.)

Why the Extension Matters

The University of Kashmir’s decision to extend the application deadline reflects its commitment to ensuring that no eligible student is left out due to technical or logistical delays.

Many students, particularly from far-flung areas or those awaiting results and document verification, often miss initial deadlines. The short extension window from October 14 to October 16 gives them a final opportunity to secure admission to one of the most sought-after universities in the region.

This move also indicates that the university wants to maximize enrollment under the new FYUGP system before finalizing admission lists.

Where to Submit Hard Copies

After completing the online application, candidates must submit hard copies of their application forms at the respective private affiliated colleges where they are seeking admission. The submission must be done during office hours before the October 16, 2025 deadline.

Colleges will then verify the submitted forms and forward the data to the University’s admission cell for further processing.

The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) emphasizes competency-based education, aiming to make assessments more learner-centric and outcome-based. Following this vision, the CEO Anantnag has instructed all schools to design question papers focusing on identified learning competencies.

Key features of Competency-Based Question Papers (CBQPs) include:

  • Clarity: Questions must be simple, precise, and unambiguous.
  • Relevance: All questions should align with the learning outcomes mentioned in the curriculum.
  • Focus on Understanding: Instead of rote learning, the emphasis will be on comprehension, application, and analytical skills.

This approach ensures that students are not merely memorizing facts but are able to apply knowledge in real-life situations, which aligns with the broader educational reforms under NEP-2020.

  • Token Fee: ₹200 per candidate

✅ With Late Fine

“No request shall be entertained after the prescribed date.”

This means that after 20 October 2025, no corrections—whether minor or major—will be allowed for any student.

Many students make unintentional mistakes while filling exam forms—such as:
