CBSE Reopens Candidate Submission Portal for Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams 2026: Complete Details, Important Dates, and Guidelines for Schools

CBSE Reopens Candidate Submission Portal for Class 10 and Class 12 Board Exams 2026: Complete Details, Important Dates, and Guidelines for Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially reopened the List of Candidates (LOC) submission portal for the upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2026. This decision comes as a relief to many schools that missed the initial deadline despite multiple reminders and notifications issued by the Board. The reopening aims to ensure that no eligible student is left out of the examination process due to administrative delays at the school level.

CBSE’s move underscores its commitment to ensuring maximum participation and fairness in the annual board examination process, which is one of the largest school-level assessments in the world. With approximately 45 lakh students expected to appear for the CBSE Board Exams 2026 across India and 26 other countries, the board has initiated several measures to streamline and strengthen the registration process.

🔹 What is the LOC (List of Candidates)?

The List of Candidates (LOC) is an essential process conducted by CBSE before the main examinations. It involves schools submitting detailed information about students eligible to appear in the upcoming board exams.
The LOC includes personal, academic, and subject-related details of each candidate, ensuring that all data is accurate before the issuance of admit cards and the finalisation of examination centres.

Timely and error-free submission of the LOC is crucial because inaccuracies at this stage can lead to serious issues, such as students being assigned incorrect subjects or being ineligible to sit for exams.

🔹 Why Did CBSE Reopen the Portal?

The CBSE LOC submission portal was initially closed on September 30, 2025, marking the final deadline for submissions without a late fee. However, several schools across the country failed to meet this deadline despite multiple reminders issued by CBSE.

Recognising that some schools might have faced technical or administrative difficulties, the Board decided to reopen the portal for a limited period, allowing submissions with a late fee.
This decision provides a final opportunity for schools to complete the process and ensure that all eligible students are registered properly for the 2026 board examinations.

🔹 Key Circulars and Reminders Issued by CBSE

CBSE has been actively guiding schools throughout the submission process since August 2025. The following timeline outlines the communications and reminders shared by the board:

  • August 27, 2025: Initial circular issued regarding LOC submission, detailing instructions and timelines for schools.
  • September 9, 2025: Circular highlighting critical dates, including activation of the web module for CWSN (Children With Special Needs) candidates.
  • September 11, 2025: First reminder to schools for accurate and timely LOC submission.
  • September 18, 2025: Circular issued for parents, stressing the importance of verifying their ward’s data and subject selection.
  • September 19, 2025: Second reminder to schools reiterating the urgency of completing the process.
  • September 25, 2025: Third reminder, including details on fee payment modes and technical submission guidelines.
  • September 26–30, 2025: Series of five consecutive daily reminders emphasising the last few days to submit LOCs without late fees.

In total, eight communications were issued by CBSE to ensure compliance and avoid last-minute rushes.

🔹 Reopened Portal Schedule and Fee Payment Modes

The CBSE has now reopened the LOC submission portal for schools that missed the original deadline. Submissions made during this extended period will incur a late fee. The schedule and payment details are as follows:

  • Payment through Challan: October 3–8, 2025 (till 11:59 PM)
  • Other payment modes (Internet Banking, UPI, Debit/Credit Card, NEFT/RTGS, SWIFT): October 3–11, 2025 (till 11:59 PM)

The board has strictly stated that no further extensions will be granted after these dates. Schools must ensure payment and submission are both completed within the prescribed window, as incomplete transactions will not be accepted.

🔹 CBSE’s Warning to Schools

CBSE has directed all school principals to immediately complete the LOC submission for their students.
Schools failing to do so within the extended timeline may face serious consequences, including disqualification of their students from appearing in the Board Examinations 2026.

The Board has reiterated that schools hold full responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of student data. Once the extended window closes, the portal will be permanently disabled for further submissions, and no requests for reopening will be entertained.

🔹 CBSE Board Exams 2026: Tentative Schedule

CBSE has released tentative date sheets for the 2026 board examinations. The exams are scheduled to be conducted between February 17 and July 15, 2026, across all CBSE-affiliated schools in India and abroad.

The exams will cover around 204 subjects, and will include multiple types of assessments such as:

  • Main Examinations for Class 10 and Class 12
  • Examinations for Sports Students (Class 12)
  • Second Board Examinations (Class 10)
  • Supplementary Examinations (Class 12)

This comprehensive schedule is designed to ensure that both regular and special-category students get adequate opportunities to appear and perform in their respective examinations.

🔹 Evaluation and Result Timeline

As per CBSE’s academic calendar, the evaluation process for the 2026 exams will begin approximately 10 days after each subject’s examination and conclude within 12 days.

For example:
If the Class 12 Physics examination is held on February 20, 2026, the evaluation of answer scripts will begin by March 3 and conclude by March 15, 2026.

This structured approach will help the board ensure that results are declared on time, likely by late May or early June 2026, facilitating smooth admissions for higher education courses.

🔹 Importance of Accurate LOC Submission

Accurate submission of the List of Candidates ensures that every student’s information is verified, recorded, and linked with the correct subjects, examination centres, and roll numbers.
Any mistakes at this stage could lead to serious consequences such as:

  • Errors in admit cards
  • Misallocation of examination centres
  • Incorrect subject codes
  • Difficulties during result declaration

Hence, CBSE has urged all schools to double-check every entry before final submission.

🔹 Final Instructions for Schools and Students

  1. Complete the LOC submission on time using the reopened portal.
  2. Verify all student details including names, subjects, and personal data.
  3. Ensure fee payment is completed successfully before the deadline.
  4. Download and retain the acknowledgment slip from the CBSE portal as proof of submission.
  5. Inform parents and students about their data entry and subject confirmation to avoid later disputes.

Schools are also encouraged to maintain digital records of all submitted details for future verification.

🔹 CBSE’s Message to Stakeholders

CBSE has once again emphasised that compliance, accuracy, and punctuality are the pillars of smooth examination conduct. The Board expects schools, students, and parents to work collaboratively to ensure that all requirements are fulfilled well before deadlines.

The reopening of the LOC portal should be seen as a final opportunity to regularise pending submissions, not as an indefinite extension.

🔹 Conclusion

The reopening of the CBSE LOC submission portal for 2026 is a vital step to ensure that no student is left behind due to administrative oversight. As the board gears up for its 2026 examinations scheduled from February 17 to July 15, timely compliance by schools will play a major role in maintaining efficiency and transparency throughout the process.

All affiliated schools are therefore urged to treat this reopening window with utmost seriousness and complete the process before October 11, 2025. Any delay beyond this date could lead to irrevocable consequences for students.

For further details and updates, schools and students are advised to regularly visit the official CBSE website at https://www.cbse.gov.in.

JKBOSE’s Role and Academic Calendar Adjustments

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) plays a vital role in regulating and supervising academic standards in the Union Territory. With the new uniform academic calendar introduced last year, JKBOSE aims to synchronize the examination schedule of both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions, aligning them more closely with the national academic pattern.

However, due to geographical and climatic conditions, the Kashmir Division continues to hold its annual examinations in October–November, while the Jammu Division follows the March–April session.

The release of the Class 10th Date Sheet 2025 is part of the Board’s continued efforts to maintain academic consistency and ensure timely completion of the evaluation and result declaration process before the winter vacation.

Students’ Reaction and Preparation Insights

Following the release of the date sheet, many students expressed both relief and nervous excitement as they enter the final phase of their exam preparation. Teachers across the Valley have intensified revision sessions, mock tests, and remedial classes to help students perform their best.

Educational experts recommend that students focus on:

  • Time management: Practice solving previous year’s papers within the given time frame.
  • Balanced study schedule: Divide time equally among theory and practical-based subjects.
  • Regular revisions: Revise key topics and formulas daily to boost retention.
  • Mock practice: Attempt at least 2–3 mock papers per week before the final exams.
  • Rest and health: Maintain a balanced diet and proper sleep for better concentration.

Many schools have already begun pre-board tests, giving students a chance to evaluate their readiness and identify areas for improvement.

Significance of Class 10th Exams

The Class 10th Board Examination is one of the most crucial milestones in a student’s academic journey. The results not only determine eligibility for admission into higher secondary classes (Class 11th) but also help students choose their preferred stream — Science, Arts, or Commerce — for further studies.

Given its importance, students and parents are advised to stay in close contact with school authorities and JKBOSE’s official announcements to avoid missing any updates related to exam centers, admit cards, or result timelines.
