GMC Srinagar Paramedical Students Say Careers at Risk Due to Kashmir University, GMC Mismanagement

Srinagar, Sep 7, KNT: Paramedical students of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar have expressed deep anguish over what they termed as “injustice and negligence” by the authorities after being barred from appearing in their second-year regular examinations due to pending first-year backlogs, despite no supplementary exams having been conducted.

Students told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that they were informed just two days before the commencement of their examinations that they would not be allowed to sit in the second-year papers. They alleged that this sudden decision has created chaos and mental distress among hundreds of aspirants.

“Our first paper was scheduled on 2 September. After we raised our voices on social media, it was postponed with an assurance that the matter would be resolved soon. But till now, nothing concrete has been done. Every day, we are given false hopes that tomorrow the issue will be fixed,” the aggrieved students said.

They added that their next paper is scheduled for Monday, yet uncertainty continues. “This delay is playing with our careers and mental health. We are being punished for no fault of ours, while no supplementary exams were ever arranged by the authorities,” they said.

The students squarely blamed both GMC Srinagar and Kashmir University for mismanagement, negligence and insensitivity. “Education is our right. Authorities are making students suffer due to administrative failures. This is nothing short of cruelty,” they remarked.

They appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and higher education authorities to intervene immediately and ensure justice so that their academic future is not put at risk. [KNT]

JKBOSE Announces Schedule for Class 10th Annual (Regular) Exam Forms 2025: Dates, Fees, and Guidelines Released”

JKBOSE Issues Notification for Class 10th Annual (Regular) Examination Forms 2025: Detailed Schedule, Fees, and Guidelines

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially released the schedule for the submission of online examination forms for the Class 10th Annual (Regular) Session, Oct–Nov 2025. This notification applies to eligible students of the Kashmir Division of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with the exception of District Kargil of UT Ladakh.

The notification comes as a crucial update for thousands of students currently on rolls in Class 10th across academic institutions affiliated with JKBOSE. It provides a comprehensive breakdown of deadlines, fee structures, late fee provisions, and important guidelines that must be strictly followed by both students and institutions.

In this article, we provide a detailed explanation of the notification, ensuring that students, parents, and schools clearly understand the requirements for smooth and timely submission of examination forms.

Importance of the Notification

The Class 10th board examination is one of the most significant academic milestones for students in Jammu and Kashmir. It marks the transition from secondary to higher secondary education and often sets the foundation for a student’s academic career.

Detailed Notifications Here

The JKBOSE notification not only outlines the timeline for filling the forms but also ensures that there is transparency in the fee structure and uniformity across affiliated institutions. By adhering to this schedule, students can avoid unnecessary late fees and complications in the examination process.

Schedule for Submission of Examination Forms

The notification clearly divides the schedule into two main categories:

  1. Submission of forms with normal fee
  2. Submission of forms with late fee

1. Normal Fee Submission

  • For candidates with five (05) compulsory subjects:
    • Fee per candidate: ₹1240
    • Date of opening of link: 2nd September 2025
    • Date of closing of link/last date: 15th September 2025
  • For candidates with additional/optional subjects (5+):
    • Fee per candidate: ₹1460
    • Date of opening of link: 2nd September 2025
    • Date of closing of link/last date: 15th September 2025

This means students must complete their submissions within this time frame to avoid penalties. Schools are advised to encourage their students not to delay the process.

2. Late Fee Submission

The late fee structure is divided into two rounds, each lasting seven days.

  • First Count of 7 Days (16th–22nd September 2025):
    • For five subjects only: ₹2050 (₹1240 + ₹810 late fee)
    • For more than five subjects: ₹2270 (₹1460 + ₹810 late fee)
  • Second Count of 7 Days (23rd–29th September 2025):
    • For five subjects only: ₹3325 (₹1240 + ₹2085 late fee)
    • For more than five subjects: ₹3545 (₹1460 + ₹2085 late fee)

It is worth noting that the late fee rises significantly in the second round. Students and parents are therefore strongly advised to complete the process within the normal fee period to avoid paying extra charges.

Guidelines for Schools and Students

Along with the schedule and fee structure, JKBOSE has issued a set of guidelines to ensure a smooth examination form submission process.

For Schools:

  1. Checklist Submission
    • After completing the online process, institutions must generate a checklist from their respective school accounts.
    • This checklist must be submitted to the Sub/Branch office of JKBOSE within ten days, duly signed and stamped by the Head of the Institution.
  2. Responsibility of Heads of Institutions
    • School heads must ensure that the examination forms are filled only for students who are genuinely on rolls for the academic session 2024–25.
    • Any discrepancies must be avoided, as they could lead to complications for the student.
  3. Communication with JKBOSE
    • For queries, institutions and students can directly approach Sub/Branch offices of BOSE.
    • Queries may also be sent via email at computercellkd@gmail.com.

For Students:

  1. Eligibility
    • Only those studying in affiliated academic institutions under JKBOSE for the academic session 2024–25 are eligible to fill out the forms.
  2. Specially-abled Students
    • Candidates with 40% or more disability are exempted from paying examination fees.
    • However, they must take a printout of the examination form, get it attested by the Head of the concerned institution, and submit it to the Sub/Branch office of JKBOSE along with a valid Disability Certificate from a recognized Medical Board.
  3. Instructions and FAQs
    • Detailed instructions and FAQs will be available on the official JKBOSE website. Students are strongly advised to go through them before filling out the forms.

Why Timely Submission Matters

Timely submission of examination forms ensures several benefits:

  • Avoidance of late fee penalties: As seen in the schedule, late fees can almost double the total cost of submission.
  • Smooth examination process: Early submission allows JKBOSE to prepare admit cards, seating arrangements, and other logistics efficiently.
  • Peace of mind for students and parents: Completing the process on time removes unnecessary stress before exams.

For students preparing for one of the most crucial examinations of their academic journey, avoiding last-minute hurdles is key to maintaining focus on studies.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Based on previous years’ experiences, here are some mistakes that students and schools should avoid:

  • Incorrect subject selection: Ensure that optional or additional subjects are chosen correctly while filling the form.
  • Missing deadlines: Do not wait until the last day, as server issues or internet problems could cause delays.
  • Incomplete checklist submission by schools: Without the signed and stamped checklist, the submission is incomplete.
  • Not keeping a copy of submission proof: Students and schools should always keep a copy of the submitted form and payment receipt.

Role of Parents

Parents play a crucial role in guiding their children through this process. They should:

  • Regularly check with schools regarding deadlines.
  • Ensure the correct details of their ward are entered in the form.
  • Motivate students to avoid procrastination in submitting the forms.
  • Help specially-abled children complete the additional formalities required for fee exemption.

Conclusion

The JKBOSE notification for the Class 10th Annual (Regular) Examination, Session Oct–Nov 2025 serves as a roadmap for students, schools, and parents. With clear instructions, detailed schedules, and transparent fee structures, the Board aims to streamline the process and reduce confusion.

Students are advised to fill their examination forms within the normal fee period (2nd–15th September 2025) to avoid unnecessary financial burdens. Schools must also shoulder their responsibility in ensuring timely checklist submission to JKBOSE offices.

As the academic year progresses, this notification marks the first formal step toward the Class 10th board examinations. For students, it is not just about paperwork—it is the beginning of their preparation journey for one of the most important milestones in their education.

By following the guidelines, avoiding delays, and staying informed, students can focus on their studies with confidence and clarity.

Eid-e-Milad Holiday Mishandled, Playing With People’s Emotions: Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Sep 5 (JKNS): Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday voiced strong resentment against the administration for what she termed as mishandling of the Eid-e-Milad holiday observance in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a post on X, Itoo as per news agency JKNS wrote, “This is totally unjust that Eid-e-Milad, a sacred occasion for Muslims worldwide, is not observed as a holiday on the correct date in J&K. What does ‘subject to appearance of the moon’ mean if it is not followed? Despite repeated requests from the elected Government to shift the holiday, no action has been taken.”

She further accused the administration of “playing with the emotions of the people,” insisting that such matters should rest with the elected dispensation and not, in her words, with a “selected administration.”

Earlier, officials from the General Administration Department had confirmed that the holiday on account of Eid-e-Milad would be observed today. (JKNS)

Jammu & Kashmir SET to Be Held as Scheduled; Aspirants Demand Postponement, Appeal to LG Sinha and CM Omar

Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test to be held as per schedule

Aspirants seek postponement, urge LG Sinha, CM Omar to intervene

Srinagar, Sep 04 (KNO): Amid flood-like conditions in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have announced that the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) will be conducted as per schedule on September 7.

The official notification issued by the University of Jammu, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), has urged candidates not to pay heed to rumors and rely only on official communications.

The notification further stated that the examination centres earlier allotted at the Old Campus, University of Jammu, has now been shifted to Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Babiliana, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu.

Accordingly, all previously issued admit cards stand cancelled and candidates will be required to download fresh admit cards for entry at the centre.

However, this decision has disappointed the aspirants, especially the ones from flood-hit areas of Kashmir.

“Many villages in Kashmir are submerged and bridges have been washed away. In such conditions, how are we supposed to reach for the exam?” asked Shabir Ahmad, an aspirant from Pulwama.

Another candidate, Ruqaya Jan from Anantnag, said, “We have been preparing for months, but right now our families are struggling to save homes and belongings from floods. Authorities should have postponed the exam.”

Students fear that large numbers of candidates may miss the crucial exam due to the situation. Adil Bashir from Baramulla noted, “Even if some of us manage to reach the centres, the journey itself is risky. Roads are closed and there is no clarity about safe travel routes.”

Candidates have sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, urging them to either get the exam postponed or provide safe transport and accommodation facilities to aspirants coming from affected areas.

“We don’t want our careers to suffer. The authorities must show sensitivity towards the ground situation,” said Nusrat Ara, a candidate from Shopian.

Aspirants have also written to the authorities, highlighting their hardships.

“Continuous heavy rainfall, floods, and prolonged electricity outages have made it nearly impossible for us to prepare or even travel safely. Despite such severe conditions, Jammu University is still conducting the JKSET exam on 7th September without considering the hardships of students,” reads one such letter.

“Earlier, the University postponed the exam multiple times without any major issue, but now, when the situation is truly critical and life-threatening, they are forcing students to appear. This is highly unfair and insensitive,” it reads further.

“We humbly request everyone to appeal to Jammu University to postpone the exam in view of the present natural calamity, so that students are not compelled to risk their lives for appearing in the exam.” It states further—(KNO)
