From tomorrow onwards a fresh Western disturbance is very likely to bring fresh snowfall over higher reaches of Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Sinthan top, Razdan top, Peer ki Gali, Gurez , and other higher elevations.

Snowfall accumulation may go upto 2 to 5 inches over higher reaches of Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Sinthan top, Razdan top and Gurez .

Light rain showers is expected over plains of Jammu and Kashmir during above mentioned period.

IGNOU extends last date for admission to October 15

Srinagar, 7 Oct (KB): Keeping in view of the requests from the students across the country, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has further extended the last date for admission to its various programmes for the ongoing academic session to October 15, 2024 in order to accommodate potential learners who were unable to complete their admission formalities within the initially announced timeline.

In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir Bulletin reads, Prospective students who wish to enroll for the ongoing academic session are encouraged to take advantage of this extended deadline. This additional time offers an opportunity for those who may have faced challenges or delays in completing their applications earlier.

The University offers approximately 300 Under Graduate and Master Degree Programs under ODL mode of education and 50 online programs. E-prospectus is available on IGNOU website for more information, it reads.

Regional Director, Dr. A.H. Rizvi emphasized the university’s commitment to providing accessible and flexible education opportunities to learners across the Kashmir Division including the UT of Ladakh.

It further reads, Dr. Rizvi, said that this is the last opportunity for July 2024 admissions as the admission to all the academic programmes offered in Open Distance Learning or Online Learning mode for the July 2024 admission has been extended further till 15th October 2024 except for Semester based and Certificate programmes.

An excellent opportunity to secure a job at SBI (State Bank of India) is about to come. The bank is aiming to hire 10,000 new employees in the upcoming financial year, 2024-25. This recruitment drive is intended to meet the growing demands in general banking services and enhance the bank’s technical capabilities. SBI has made substantial investments in technology to strengthen its digital channels.

SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty said, “We are strengthening our staff on the technology as well as general banking side. We have recently announced the recruitment of about 1,500 technology experts at the entry-level and slightly higher level.” He said, “Our technology recruitment is also on specialized jobs like data scientists, data architects, network operators, etc. We are recruiting them for a variety of jobs on the technology side.”

Appointments to be made on these posts

The bank is planning to hire approximately 8,000 to 10,000 employees, including general banking staff and technology experts. As of March 2024, the bank had a total of 232,296 employees, with 110,116 officers working at the end of the last financial year. When asked about capacity building, CS Shetty mentioned that the bank continuously retains and upgrades existing employees to meet the evolving needs of the customers.
SBI plans to open 600 new branches across India during this financial year for network expansion. As of March 2024, the bank currently operates 22,542 branches nationwide. Setty revealed that the branch expansion strategy focuses on emerging areas, particularly residential colonies that are currently underserved. Setty stated, “We aim to add around 600 branches this year.”

Konkan Railway recruitment: Eligibility

The eligibility of candidates has been divided into four categories-

Land loser candidates: These candidates are those whose land has been acquired for a KRCL project. The spouse (wife/husband), son, daughter, grandson, and granddaughter of land losers are also eligible. These candidates will be given the first preference in the selection process.

Other than land loser candidates: This category includes candidates who are domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka and have valid employment exchange cards registered with the employment exchange along the Konkan Railway route. They will get the second preference in the recruitment drive.

Other than land-loser candidates, Candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, Goa, or Karnataka will receive the third preference for these posts.

KRCL employees: Employees of the organisation who have completed at least three years of regular service will be considered as KRCL employee category candidates.

Candidates should be 18 to 36 years old as on August 1, 2024 to apply for these posts. The upper age limit has been increased from 33 to 36 to provide relief to candidates who may have exceeded the age limit due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Further relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to reserved category candidates.
