Srinagar, Jan 9 (KB): Kashmir University has announced that postgraduate exams will be conducted as per schedule, unaffected by the ongoing transport strike in Kashmir.

While talking with Kashmir Bulletin an official said postgraduate exams will go on as planned despite most public transportation remaining off roads due to the strike called by various transport associations.

JKSSB Announces Final Selection List for Sub-Inspector, Police (Home Department) Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has officially released the Final Selection List for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors in the Police (Home Department), UT Cadre. This culmination follows a thorough and multi-stage selection process, including a Computer Based Written Test (CBT), Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), and Document Verification.

Selection Process Overview:
The recruitment process commenced with the release of Notification No. 06 of 2021 on October 21, 2021, inviting applications from eligible candidates. The selection criteria included a Written Test, followed by PST/PET, with additional weightage given to candidates possessing NCC Certificates.

The Computer Based Written Test (CBT) took place from December 7 to December 20, 2022, in multiple shifts. Subsequently, the results were declared through Notification No. JKSSB COEOEXAM(UT)/54/2022-03 on November 3, 2023. Shortlisted candidates underwent PST/PET and Document Verification in both Jammu and Srinagar.

Formation of Selection Committee:
To finalize the selection, the JKSSB constituted the Selection Committee through Office Order No. 323-SSB of 2023 on December 22, 2023. Horizontal Reservation was implemented, allocating 72 posts to Ex-Servicemen (ESM), while Persons with Disabilities were deemed ineligible for these specific positions.

Approval of Provisional Selection List:
The Provisional Selection List, based on merit and eligibility, was presented to the Board during its 251st Meeting on December 29, 2023. It was subsequently approved, and the list was officially published through No. JKSSB-Scry/26/2023-03(E-7376857) on December 29, 2024. The candidates were given an opportunity for medical examination and to raise objections within five days of the notification.

Addressing Representations and Finalizing the Selection:
Several representations were received from candidates regarding document submissions, withheld cases, and corrections. The Selection Committee, considering these concerns, along with medical reports and existing regulations, formulated the Final Selection List. The Board approved this list in its 254th Meeting held on January 8, 2024.

The announcement of the Final Selection List marks the culmination of a meticulous and transparent recruitment process by the JKSSB for the Sub-Inspector, Police (Home Department) posts. Candidates are reminded that the list is subject to the outcome of any pending OAs/Writ Petitions and inquiries involving candidates in the list. Formative assessment:JKSCERT to conduct assessment upto 8th standard in first week of March

Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNO): In view of the winter vacations, Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT) Monday said that it will conduct formative assessment upto 8th standard in first week of March instead of the previously notified date,

Under the Student Assessment and Evaluation (SA&E) scheme up to Class 8th, JKSCERT had notified the schedule and timeline for conduct of SA&ES up to Class 8th (Elementary level) for the summer and winter zone schools from Academic Session 2023-24

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Director of JKSCERT in a communique said, “For the convenience of students and keeping in view the announcement of winter vacation in winter zone schools by JKUT, the Formative Assessment scheduled to be conducted in the last week of December 2023 in winter zone schools of JKUT shall now be conducted by the respective schools by or before ist week of March 2024.”

Earlier in October-2023, JKSCERT had devised a ‘Common’ format for the recording of the formative assessment under the Student Assessment and Evaluation (SA&E) scheme up to Class 8th.

Formative assessment is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment.

JKSCERT had said that the council earlier had notified SA&E scheme up to class 8th for all government and recognised schools in accordance with the provisions in National Education Policy-2020 and Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2019.

“Despite continuous orientation on the scheme by this Council, there was a continuous demand from the stakeholders to have a common format for the recording of the formative assessment and result sheet thereof,” it reads.

The communique further reads, “JKSCERT accordingly devised formats for; recording of formative assessment, Co-curricular Component and also devised result sheet which for wider dissemination to concerned Schools.”—(KNO)

Space Applications Centre (SAC) at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has invited applications for the vacancies of Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level -10 of Pay Matrix (Rs 56,100-  Rs 1,77,500). Applications are invited for the post of Scientist Engineer- Agriculture, Scientist Engineer- Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography and Scientist Engineer- Computer Science Engineering.

Candidates applying for the post Scientist Engineer- Agriculture are required to have a degree in MSc in Agricultural Physics/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Agronomy or equivalent with an aggregate minimum of 65 per cent marks (average of all years/semesters) or CGPA grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale.

Applicants for the post of Scientist Engineer- Atmospheric Sciences are required to have a degree in MSc in Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Meteorology/ Ocean Sciences or equivalent with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks (average of all years/semesters) or CGPA grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale.
The age limit for the above two positions is 18-28 years.

Applicants for the post of Scientist Engineer- Computer Science Engineering are required to have ME/MTech in Computer Science and Engineering with Specialisation in Image Processing/ Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning / Computer Vision with an aggregate minimum of 60% (average of all years/semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale. The age limit for this post is 18-30 years.

The selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in written test and interview. Candidates will be short-listed for interview in the ratio of 1:5, with a minimum of 10 candidates. For reserved vacancies, candidates will be short-listed in the ratio of 1:5, without regard to the reserved candidates if any.

JKSSB Assistant Scientific Officer Answer Key 2024 Released Download PDF

Srinagar, January 8, KSA: Jkssb has released the provisional answer key for the written examination conducted for the post of Assistant Scientific Officer (Ballistics) on January 8, 2024.

The exam was advertised vide Notification No. 02 of 2022 under Item No. 47. It was held on January 8 across various centers in Jammu and Kashmir.

JKSSB has now uploaded the provisional answer key of Question Paper Series A, B, C and D on its official website – www.jkssb.nic.in.

Candidates can submit objections/representations regarding the answer key along with supporting documents and a fee of Rs. 200 per question. The objections need to be submitted offline at the JKSSB offices in Jammu and Srinagar.

The last date to submit objections is January 11, 2024. Objections received after this date or in any other mode will not be considered by JKSSB.

JKSSB Stock Assistant Admit Card

If any objection is found to be correct, the answer key will be revised and applied to all candidates accordingly. Individual candidates will not be informed about the status of their objections.

The final answer key will be released after considering all objections. JKSSB will then release the result and final selection list based on the final answer key.

Srinagar 8 Jan (KSA):The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued admit cards for the OMR based written examination for the post of Stock Assistant. The exam is scheduled to be held on 14th January 2024.

According to a notice issued by the JKSSB, admit cards will be available for download from 9th January 2024 onwards on the official website – www.jkssb.nic.in. Candidates can download the admit cards using their email ID and date of birth.

The notice advises candidates to carefully read the instructions mentioned on the admit cards. In case of any issues in downloading the admit cards, candidates may contact the JKSSB Help Desk at the numbers provided.

The JKSSB has warned against any kind of malpractice and said candidature is liable to be cancelled in case of impersonation or fraud. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

The notice provides step-by-step procedure for candidates to download their admit cards from the JKSSB website. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official website for latest updates regarding the examination.

All Passenger Vehicles in Kashmir To Observe 2-Day ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ from Tomorrow

Srinagar, Jan 8 (GNS): All the passenger vehicles in Kashmir valley will observe a two-day ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ on January 9 and January 10.

Talking to GNS, Chairman All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation, Mohammad Shafi Mir that the strike has been called by transporters in Maharashtra, New Delhi and several other states to which the Kashmir based transporters’ confederation has mutually decided to extend its cooperation.

“All types of passenger vehicles will observe the ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ on January 9 and January 10”, Mir said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the All JK Oil Tankers Association had in a video-statement rebuffed reports of any strike given by the association.

The transporters have been demanding the roll back of penal provisions introduced by the GoI regarding hit-and-run cases. (GNS)

ACB arrests Scientist-B of PCB, Srinagar for accepting bribe

Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNO): Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday said to have trapped and arrested Dr. Bilquees Ara Siddiqui, Scientist-B of State Pollution Control Board, Srinagar for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.

A statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads that Anti Corruption Bureau received a written complaint against Dr. Bilquees Ara, Scientist-B in State Pollution Control Board for demand of bribe for issuance of ‘Consent To Operate’ (CTO) for bakery unit located at Industrial Estate, Khunmoh.

The complainant in his complaint alleged that he had applied for ‘Consent To Operate’ (CTO) from Pollution Control Board in the month of Nov-2023. “His application was pending with Dr. Bilquees (accused) who was unnecessarily delaying the matter. It was further alleged that on 6th of this month, the complainant visited the accused at PCB office and requested her to process his case,” it added.

The statement said that she demanded Rs 20,000 as bribe from the complainant for issuance of CTO. However, after negotiation the amount was settled as Rs 5,000

“The complainant chose not to pay bribe and instead approached Anti Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the accused public servant as provided under law. On receipt of the complaint, a Case FIR No. 02/2024 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered with PS ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up,” the statement said.

During the course of investigation, the statement said that a trap team was constituted. “The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused public servant red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The money was recovered from the accused on spot.”

The accused has been identified as Dr. Bilquees Ara Siddiqui D/o Ghulam Nabi R/o Sarnal (Gulshan Abad) Anantnag, working in Pollution Control Board as Scientist-B.
