J&K SCERT Syllabus Notification for classes 1st-8th

SCERT-JK notified Academic Calendar Cum Syllabus upto classes 8th vide Notification
No. SCERT/C/Asstt-Cell/2023/1296-1343(E-715623) dated 11.04.2023. However
Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education vide Notification No.F(Acad-C)/Rev-
New/Tbs/23,dated:27.05.2023 has changed and introduced Chant IV series (English)
in respect of class 4th from the current academic session (2023-24).

This Council has accordingly mapped contents of the said textbook with the learning
outcomes and prepared revised Syllabus cum Academic Calendar for the said
textbook.

Govt withdraws order on electricity charges for employees staying in Srinagar, Jammu quarters

Srinagar, Jul 14 (KNO): The government on Friday withdrew orders pertaining to the electricity at flat rates for its employees residing in government quarters in Srinagar and Jammu.

In an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), government stated that the order is withdrawn with immediate effect.

“The Government Order No. 301-GAD of 2013, dated 20.02.2013, pertaining to the payment of electricity charges by Government employees residing in Government Quarters at Srinagar and Jammu at flat rates, is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect,” the order reads—(KNO)

Srinagar, July 14 (GNS): The Government on Friday appointed Braj Raj Sharma as State Election Commissioner for Jammu and Kashmir.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to sub-section (3) of section 36 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, the Lieutenant Governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint Mr. Braj Raj Sharma, IAS (Retd.) as State Election Commissioner for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir under the said Act,” reads a government order, a copy of which lies with GNS. “He shall hold the position of State Election Commissioner till he attains the age of sixty five years”.

The appointment of State Election Commissioner, it said, shall take effect from the date he assumes the charge.

Born on 27-04-1960, the former Chief Secretary and the chairman of J&K Public Service Commission, shall have tenure till 2025.

“The terms and conditions of his appointment shall be notified by the Government subsequently.” (GNS)

Srinagar, July 14 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday said that almost every year, Kashmir would witness bandh calls for almost every day and that gone the are days when school and colleges would remain closed in the Valley. He said that hartal calls are a thing of past and now 365 days of a year pass off peacefully with schools and colleges functioning normally every day.

“Gone are the days when people would give hartal calls which resulted in closure of schools and colleges in Kashmir. Today, all 365 days of the year pass off peacefully with schools, colleges, universities functioning normally. Hartals is a thing of the past in the Valley where business of all sectors is flourishing and economy growing,” the LG said addressing a gathering of students at Amar Singh College Srinagar, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said people of Kashmir are reaping the benefits of peace. “One can see youth playing music at Jehlum river front and students enjoying reading as well,” he said.

The LG said that without peace, development and progress wasn’t possible in J&K. “Youth are the future of J&K and the country. We need your support to take forward J&K on all fronts,” he said as per KNO.

He said J&K is part of the growing economy of India. “Indian doctors made us proud by providing vaccines against Covid to dozens of foreign countries,” he said and sought students’ support in making India the strongest nations across the globe—(KNO)

Srinagar, July 14 (GNS): Weather department here has forecast mainly dry weather with possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershower at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir till July 18 even as minimum temperature recorded increase in J&K on Friday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that “intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershower were expected at scattered places between July 19 and 25. However, he said, there is no forecast of any major rainfall till July 25.

Regarding the minimum temperature, the official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 20.7°C against 17.6°C on the previous night and it was 2.6°C below normal for the summer capital.

Qazigund, he said, recorded a low of 17.2°C against 17.0°C on the previous night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley.

Pahalgam, he said, recorded a low of 12.7°C against 10.3°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.7°C for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In Kupwara town, he said, the mercury settled at 16.6°C against 15.5°C on the previous night and it was normal for the north Kashmir area.

Kokernag recorded a low of 17.5°C against 16.5°C on the previous night and it was 1.6°C above normal for the place, the officials said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 14.0°C against 11.6°C on previous night and it was 2.2°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 27.1°C against 25.9°C on the previous night and it was 2.3°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.
Banihal recorded a low of 18.6°C, Batote 19.6°C, Katra 23.4°C and Bhaderwah 16.6°C, the official said. (GNS)

CUET-UG results to be announced by July 17, says UGC chief

The results for the CUET-UG will be announced by July 17, UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar said on Thursday.

Earlier, the results were expected to be announced by July 15.

The undergraduate admission process at over 200 universities across the country will begin post the declaration of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG results.

The CUET-UG results will be announced latest by July 17. When we announce the results, it should be error free. And look at the complexity of administering the CUET-UG — 841 question papers were used, 214 in different languages, 534 in English and Hindi and 93 in 11 regional languages as the medium. The total number of questions in these papers was 1.48 lakh,” Kumar said.

He added, “Candidates were allowed to challenge the keys from June 29 to July 1. About 25,782 answer key challenges were received, of which 3,886 were unique. Processing all this data and finalisation of the results takes time. Once this is over, the result committee will examine the data and give the go-ahead for the result announcement. The NTA (National Testing Agency) is targeting to announce the results latest by Monday and even earlier.”

More than 14 lakh applications were received for the CUET-UG this year, registering a 41 per cent increase from its first edition last year.

CUET 2023: Revised Provisional Answer Key for CUET (UG)

The CUET-UG is the second-largest entrance exam in the country in terms of the number of applicants. In its first edition, 12.5 lakh students had registered for the exam and 9.9 lakh submitted their applications. Unlike last year, the exam was conducted in three shifts this year.

Crime Branch Kashmir files chargesheet against 19 accused in forgery case

Srinagar, July 14 (KNO): Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has produced chargesheet against 19 accused persons in the court of Passenger Tax Srinagar.

According a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the accused persons were involved in the commission of offences punishable under sections 420, 468, 120-B & 201 RPC.

The statement reads that brief facts of the case are that Crime Branch Kashmir had received a complaint alleging that certain individuals had been appointed in J&K Police [District Srinagar] on the basis of fake and forged appointment orders.

It reads that accordingly, the instant case was registered in P/S Crime Branch Kashmir (now, Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar) in 2015 and investigation was started.

“During investigation it has been established that the appointment orders had been issued in clear violation of rules & established norms and after manipulation of records etc. The aforesaid acts on part of the accused individuals has established cheating, fraud and forgery under 420, 468, 120-B & 201 RPC.”

It added that accordingly, investigation of the case was closed as “proved” against 19 accused persons and chargesheet has been produced before the Court for judicial determination—(KNO)
