Headmaster booked for assaulting student in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 04 (KNO): Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday booked a headmaster of Government Primary School in Koli Mohalla after he allegedly assaulted a male student, resulting in a severe eye injury.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a case has been registered under the case number 63/2024 at the BNS PS Pathkoot, citing sections 115(2) and 351(2) of the penal code.

The incident took place in the classroom, when a headmaster hit a student near the eye with a stick.

According to the complaint, headmaster has a history of similar behavior, regularly resorting to physical discipline against students.

The student’s father, Reyaz Ahmed Lone, reported that his son was instructed by the headmaster to claim the injury occurred from a fall in the washroom, official said.

Meanwhile, another parent, Murtaza Baba, stated, “We have received multiple complaints from our children. Sheikh not only neglects his teaching duties but also spends time managing a fish farm next to the school.”—(KNO)

Examinations upto Class 9 to be held in December, confirms Education Minister Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, November 4 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to conduct exams for students up to Class 9 in the Kashmir Valley in December.

The government recently announced that the academic session for students up to the 9th standard would follow a November-December schedule.

JKBOSE Class 9th Important Examination Notification

However, there was uncertainty about whether the exams would take place in November or December. Authorities have now clarified that the exams will be held in December, not in November.

“The examinations up to Class 9 will be conducted in December. Parents and students should not worry about the cold weather. Ee will make all necessary arrangements in examination halls. Exams were conducted in December earlier also,” Minister for Education Sakina Itoo told news agency KINS.

She said that the academic session for students in Classes 10 to 12 will return to the November-December cycle starting next year.

In 2022, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir had announced that a Uniform Academic Calendar would be implemented from the 2022-23 academic year onward. (KINS)

Addressing the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar, the LG said that his government is working out the modalities to provide 100 units of free electricity to deserving families. “We have decided to provide 100 units of free power to deserving families. Modalities in this regard are being worked out,” he said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He also said that all government buildings will have solar rooftop power connections shortly under Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Scheme (PMSGS)

Jammu and Kashmir Board Issues Notification for Secondary School Exam Candidates Using Unfair Means

Rehari Colony, Jammu – The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), Rehari Colony, Jammu, has released an official notification concerning certain students who appeared for the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) and deferred cases of Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12) Annual Private/Bi-Annual exams for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in 2024. These students, allegedly involved in unfair practices during their exams, are required to present themselves before a committee for further scrutiny.

According to the notification, students accused of malpractices, including the use of unfair means, tearing of answer sheets, misbehavior, and use of non-prescribed ink, must defend themselves at the JKBOSE Office Chambers. This measure is part of a procedural investigation led by the Joint Secretary, Secrecy, and the JD. Students must appear at their own expense to respond to the allegations.

Candidates must attend this hearing to explain their actions, or else face potential consequences. The notice specifies that if a student fails to attend, the board will make a decision on their cases based on available records and reports, which will be considered final.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Technical Education (JKBOTE) has announced an extension for the online registration deadline for newly admitted students of the 2024–25 academic session. This applies to students entering the 1st semester and those joining via lateral entry into the 3rd semester.

According to an official notice issued by JKBOTE, the last date for submitting online registration forms, initially set by office notice No. BOTE/REG/2024-25/2581-22 on September 2, 2024, has now been extended to November 10, 2024. In addition, the deadline for submitting hard copies has been extended to November 15, 2024.

This extension provides additional time for students to complete their registration process without incurring late fees. The notice was issued by the Secretary/Controller of JKBOTE, based in Srinagar.

Bandipora, Nov 3: An 08-year-old boy, the only brother of six sisters died in a road accident in Banyari Ajas area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district this evening.

Reports reaching ANH said that 08-year-old Shahzad Ahmad Dar, son of Javaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Banyari Ajas was critically injured after being allegedly hit by tractor in Banyari this evening.

They said he was rushed to CHC Hajin for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.
