Chairman SSB Confirms Scheduled Date for Supervisor Post Examination

Srinagar, June 5: Amid the demand by the aspirants for deferment of the exams of the Supervisor post in the Social Welfare Department, the exam conducting body has outrightly refused to defer the examination noting that the exam will be held on the already notified date.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Chairman JK Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) Rajesh Sharma said that adequate preparation time was given to the aspirants post advertisement of the job notification. The exam for the supervisor post is scheduled on June 23 and 24.

“The exam will be conducted for 186 positions and we have around 1.40 lakh aspirants for these positions. We have been receiving emails from the majority of the candidates not to defer the exam,” Sharma told Greater Kashmir.

Earlier, several aspirants urged the authorities to defer the examination by one month saying that they did not get adequate preparation time. “We applied for the posts in March 2024 and we are yet to complete our preparation,” the aspirant said.

Notably, the notification for recruitment was issued by JKSSB in December 2023 while the syllabus was notified in mid-January of 2024.

“But the online portal for submission of application forms was reopened in March 2024 and the recent pass outs from colleges and Universities also applied for these positions. The online portal was open till March 19 of 2024,” an aspirant told Greater Kashmir.

The aspirants said that the syllabus is too lengthy which cannot be completed in such a short period of time.

“We approached JKSSB authorities with our demand to defer the exam by one month so that we can cover the syllabus and appear in examination with full preparation. But they paid deaf ears to our grievances,” the aspirants said.

However, the Chairman JKSSB clarified that the recruitment link was opened in March 2024 to enable the aspirants to make some corrections in their forms. “While the link was open, new aspirants also applied for these positions. And those who applied in March are now demanding deferment in the exam,” he said.

He said that out of 1.40 lakh aspirants, around 1.38 lakh aspirants demand that the exam should be held on time while 2000 aspirants who applied in March demand deferment.

“Those who have applied in December want this exam to be held on scheduled time. Also, we start our preparation to hold the exam one month in advance. We also convey the concerned district administration regarding the same. We take them on board as well. Everything has been finalised and the exam cannot be deferred,” Chairman JKSSRB said. He said as per rules adequate time was given to the candidate to prepare for the exam.

Meanwhile, some of the aspirants said that the scheduled date clashes with their IGNOU exams while some are also preparing for UGC-NET exams.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the details and schedule of the counselling process. The  counselling would be conducted by the respective Counselling Authorities subject to prevailing rules and norms for admission in Medical Colleges/Dental Colleges under their ambit. Candidates are advised to be in touch with the respective Counselling Authorities and Institutions concerned for further details.

NEW DELHI: A large section of medical aspirants have started demanding for NEET re-exam 2024 citing paper leak allegations, last-minute implementations of grace marks for loss of time, and error in NEET results 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) clarified on Tuesday night that the NEET grace marks were awarded to students who raised concerns about loss of exam time. However, students have expressed dissatisfaction and said there is no clarity in the NTA statement. NEET 2024 Result (Out)

The NTA declared the NEET UG results 2024 for over 24 lakh students on June 4 at the official website, exams.nta.ac.in; 10 days before the result date. The NEET UG result date also coincided with the general election 2024 results.

As per the NEET results 2024, a total of 67 candidates got All India Rank (AIR) 1 with a highest score of 99.997129 percentile. The NEET cut-offs for all categories also increased this year.

Although the NTA rubbished the NEET paper leak claims, which started surfacing even before the exam was conducted. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police department had arrested 13 people in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case. Later, the testing agency held re-exam for candidates who have different question papers in the Rajasthan exam centre.

NEET irregularities were also reported in Gujarat and Odisha as well. A criminal case has been filed against three people in Gujarat’s Godhra district, including a school teacher, who allegedly helped six NEET aspirants in solving the question paper in exchange for Rs 10 lakh from each candidate. The police also seized Rs 7 lakh paid to the teacher in advance by one of the examinees.

NEET grace marks 2024

Hours after the NEET result declaration, the NTA issued a statement explaining how some students got 718 and 719 marks out of 720. In its clarification, the NTA said that the decision to award grace marks was taken as per the court order to compensate for loss of exam time.

“The loss of examination time was ascertained and such candidates were compensated with grace marks. So, candidate’s marks can be 718 or 719 also,” the NTA said in its latest tweet.

NEET paper leak 2024

Days before the single-largest national medical entrance exam, a video of a masked man claiming that the mastermind behind the BPSC TRE 3 exam paper leak may leak the NEET UG questions as well went viral on social media. However, there was no official confirmation or clarification from the NTA regarding this. Later, the testing agency called it “baseless allegations”.

NEET irregularities

Some students said that the NEET result 2024 notification had details on marks obtained by candidates in each category. However, it was later removed. They also argued that the last-minute awarding of grace marks is “unfair”.

Students also have started demanding for “the Apex Court order dated 13.06.2018” based on which the grace marks were awarded.

NEET toppers 2024

Aspirants have also expressed their doubts about the NEET toppers with the same sequence of roll numbers getting highest marks in NEET exam. “8 #NEET Candidates with the same sequence starting with 2307010168, 333, 403, 460, 178, 037, 186, 198 topped from same centre,” an aspirant wrote on X.

Eid-ul-Adha 2024: When Will the USA, Pakistan, India, and Saudi Arabia Celebrate?

Eid-ul-Adha 2024: Here’s the date when Muslims in Saudi Arabia, India, UAE, US, UK etc will celebrate Bakra Eid during Zul Hijjah/Dhul Hijjah month this year

It is that time of the year again when the rhythm of the takbirs and Muslims’ hearts across the world beat in rhyme ahead of Eid-al-Adha (also known as Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Bakhreid, Eid al-Adha, Eid Qurban, Qurban Bayarami or the Feast of Sacrifice), as the month of Zul Hijjah/Dhul Hijjah of Islamic lunar calendar is around the corner and promises blessings transcending space and time while honouring and commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s absolute dedication to Allah. Eid ul-Adha is celebrated by Muslims all around the world on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the twelfth month of the Islamic lunar calendar) and it is the second major Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims after Eid-ul-Fitr

It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This festival holds deep significance and is marked by various rituals and acts of devotion when it falls on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, following the completion of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

It is a time of great joy, unity and gratitude for Muslims across the globe when families come together and communities gather to celebrate this auspicious occasion. It is that time of the year again when the preparations for Eid ul-Adha have kickstarted days in advance for Muslims to dress in their finest clothes, often new garments and attend special congregational prayers at mosques or outdoor prayer grounds.

The sermon during the Eid-ul-Adha prayers emphasises the values of sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion for others while one of the central rituals of Eid ul-Adha is the qurbani or the sacrifice of a cattle, usually a goat, sheep, cow or camel. This act symbolises Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son and demonstrates the importance of selflessness and devotion to God while the meat from the sacrificed animal is then divided into three parts: one for the family, one for relatives and friends and one for the less fortunate as sharing the meat with those in need is a fundamental aspect of Eid ul-Adha, fostering compassion, generosity and solidarity within communities.

Eid ul-Adha is also a time for Muslims to come together and strengthen the bonds of friendship and kinship hence, families and friends exchange greetings, visit one another and share festive meals. It is a time of unity and celebration with delicious traditional dishes and desserts being prepared and enjoyed like special sweets including sheer khurma (a sweet vermicelli pudding) and seviyan (sweet vermicelli) that are commonly prepared and served.

Beyond the religious and social significance, Eid ul-Adha carries profound moral and ethical lessons and it reminds Muslims of the values of sacrifice, obedience, gratitude and caring for others. It encourages acts of charity as Muslims are encouraged to give to the poor and needy during this time and it reinforces the importance of community, empathy and the spirit of sharing.

Eid ul-Adha is a time of reflection and spiritual renewal as it serves as a reminder to Muslims of the importance of faith, devotion, and submission to God’s will while fostering a sense of unity and inclusivity as people from diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate this joyous occasion. The festival not only strengthens the bonds within families and communities but also encourages acts of charity and kindness, reflecting the core principles of Islam.

This year, Muslims in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and other Arab states along with UK, US and Canada will look for the Eid-ul-Adha crescent moon on the evening of 29th of Hijri calendar month Dhul Qa’adah (the month before Dhul Hijjah), which is Wednesday, June 06, 2024. If spotted, the month of Dhul Hijjah will begin the next day i.e. June 07, 2024 and Bakhreid celebrations in these countries will commence on June 16, 2024 (Dhul Hijjah 10) while the Day of Arafat – the key ritual of Hajj – will be observed on Tuesday June June 15 (Dhul Hijjah 9).

If the crescent moon is not spotted in these countries after maghrib prayers on Wednesday June 06, 2024, then the first day of the holy month of Dhul Hijjah will be marked on Friday June 08, 2024 and Eid al Adha 2024 celebrations will commence in these nations on June 17 (Dhul Hijjah 10) while Arafah Day will be on June 16 (Dhul Hijjah 9).

On the other hand, Muslims in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Sultanate of Brunei and other South Asian nations will gear up to sight the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah on June 07, 2024 and if it is sighted, Eid-ul-Adha in these countries will be celebrated on June 17, 2024 otherwise on June 18, 2024. This is because the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhu Al-Hijjah marks the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, one of Islam’s five pillars and is followed by Eid Al Adha on the tenth day.

Hajj is the pilgrimage that every Muslim must make at least once in their lifetime if they are able. On another note, as per the astronomical calculations, the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah is unlikely to be spotted on June 06, 2024.
