JKSCERT postpones Hindi/Urdu exam for Middle Standard Examination

Srinagar: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of Jammu and Kashmir has postponed the Middle Standard Examination (MSE) 2023-24 for Hindi/Urdu subject for the Hard Zone.

The exam, which was originally scheduled to be held on April 10, 2024, will now be held on April 16, 2024.

The decision to postpone the exam was taken by the Research and Training (SCERT) of Jammu and Kashmir (JKSCERT).

According to a notification issued by the SCERT, “It is notified for the information of all the concerned stakeholders that the Middle Standard Examination (MSE) 2023-24 of Hindi/Urdu Subject for Hard Zone, scheduled to be held on 10.04.2024 is hereby postponed and the same shall now be held on 16.04.2024.”

The notification further states that “Rest of the terms and conditions for conduct of MSE 2023-24 shall remain same as already notified.”

J&K Bank registers record transactions of Rs 11,000 crore on Eid eve

Bank’s digital channel mPay hits Rs 1000 crore mark in a day

Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNO): On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Jammu & Kashmir Bank on Tuesday registered record transactions of Rs 11,000 crore with digital channels touching Rs 1,000 crore mark in a day.

According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), digital channel of the bank mPay hit Rs 1,000 crore mark in a day for the first time.

As per details a total of 493598 transactions worth Rs 3230.77 crore were recorded in just four days, which include two holidays and with today’s addition it has touched Rs 11,000 crore, registering at total transactions worth Rs Rs 11,082.

Meanwhile, consumers expressed satisfaction over the working mPay app as unlike previous years, they didn’t face any inconvenience while using the digital platform—(KNO)

Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNO): The crescent for the month of Shawwal was sighted in Jammu and Kashmir, therefore Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said on Tuesday evening.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said that enough evidences were received from various parts of J&K about sighting of the crescent,

He said that the consultative committee headed by him (Grand Mufti) with members Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Moulana Rehmatullah Qasimi, Moulana Abdul Lateef Alqandi, Ghulam Rasool Hami and ulemas from Jammu and Chenab valley have concluded that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Wednesday.

He also extended his Eid greetings to the Muslim Ummah, especially to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “May this auspicious occasion bring with it a lot of joy, happiness, peace and prosperity to all of us”, he said—(KNO)

Night Temp Drops Amid Forecast Of Rain From April 10 Evening In J&K

Srinagar, April 9 (GNS): Amid forecast for mainly dry weather in next 24 hours and possibility of light rain and snow at many places towards evening of April 10, night temperature recorded a drop in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a minimum of 5.6°C against 5.8°C on the previous night and it was 1.3°C below normal for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 3.4°C against 6.4°C on the previous night and it was 2.3°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of 0.2°C against 2.8°C on the previous night and it was 1.9°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 6.6°C against 4.5°C on the previous night and it was 1.2°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a low of 3.6°C against 5.4°C on the previous night and it was 2.5°C below normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 1.2°C against 0.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 0.7°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a minimum of 17.3°C and it was above normal by 0.5°C for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal recorded a low of 6.8°C, Batote 10.9°C and Bhaderwah 7.0°C, he said.

Regarding the forecast, he said, the weather is expected to be generally dry during the next 24 hours.

“On 10th April, weather is likely to be partly to generally cloudy with light rain/snow (higher reaches) at many places towards evening,” he said.

From April 11-12, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/snow (higher reaches) at few places.

“From April 13-15, generally cloudy weather is expected with light to moderate rain/snow (higher reaches) at many places with thunder/lightning/hailstorm and gusty winds at few places.”

From April 16-17, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow (higher reaches) is expected at few places. (GNS)

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Kashmir is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position. The position is funded by the DST-SERB and is for a research project titled, “Designing Metal-Organic Framework/SAIL based Catalytic Green electrolyte Interfaces for doubly sustainable electrochemical CO2 fixation for the synthesis of value-added Products”.

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released a notification calling for additional candidates to appear for document verification for the post of Accounts Assistant (Finance Department), UT Cadre.

The document verification will be held on April 15, 2024, at the schedule and venue indicated against each candidate in Annexure “A” of the notification.

Eligibility

To be eligible for document verification, candidates must have the following:

  • A minimum of 50% marks in graduation from a recognized university for open merit. However, candidates having a post-graduate degree with 50% marks or holding a PhD degree or equivalent will be given preference.
  • Valid Category Certificate, if belonging to reserved categories.
  • Domicile Certificate.
  • 10+2 Marks Sheet/Diploma.
  • Other documents as specified in the notification.

JKPSC releases notice regarding Assistant Professor posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has released a notice regarding the filling up of the post of Assistant Professor, Electronics, in the Higher Education Department.

The JKPSC had advertised three posts in March 2023, and five more posts in March 2023. A written test was conducted on August 27, 2023, and the results were declared in November 2023. The JKPSC also notified a provisional select list in November 2023.

The notice says that the select list is provisional, and objections can be filed within five days.

Mostly dry weather is expected till afternoon, towards late afternoon/evening rain/thunderstorm is expected at some parts.

11 April
Mostly partly cloudy with chances of rain showers at many places in Jammu and Kashmir. Overall nothing special is expected during this day.

12 April
Mostly dry weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir

A fresh western disturbance is expected from 13 April onwards until 16 April under its influence, rain/snow is expected at most places in Jammu and Kashmir ( more updates regarding this will be shared in coming days).

Traffic Plan & Advisory for 9 April 2024

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 07-04-2024, 1700 hrs. to 08-04-2024, 1700 hrs., Jammu-Srinagar NHW remained blocked for 11 hrs, due to landside at Khooni Nallah. Slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 03 HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Panthyal, Nachlana, Shalgarhi etc. and poor surface condition of road at many places between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu- Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. Load carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is single lane traffic and poor condition of road at Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, Shalgarhi etc. on Jammu Srinagar NHW.

4. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 09-04-2024:- Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs shall be managed on regulated manner after assessing the road condition.

Cut off timing for LMVs in view of single road at Dalwas, Panthyal, Nachlana, Kishtwari Pather etc:- (subject to change depending on road condition) from Nagrota (Jammu) 0600 hrs to 1300 hrs from Jakheni (Udhampur) 0700 hrs to 1400 hrs & from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0600 hrs to 1300 hrs No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

SFs Convoy Movement:-

Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

SSG ROAD

Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies), only one way traffic for LMVs 4X4 (passenger/Load carrier) from Kargil towards Srinagar shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg at 0930 hrs upto 1300 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. No vehicle shall be allowed without anti skid chain/after cut off timing.

Bhaderwah-Chamba road:-

Bhaderwah-Chamba road is still blocked due to snow accumulation.

People are advised to undertake journey on NH-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:-
