DSEK warns of strict action against schools charging capitation, miscellaneous charges

No leniency towards those who distributed wrong question papers, probe to begin from tomorrow: Director

Srinagar, Mar 21 (KNO): Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK)Thursday warned private schools of strict actions for charging prohibited capitation charges from students.

Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain Mir, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) told reporters that schools will face action who will charge admission or miscellaneous charges.

He also said that the department had already issued a circular in this regard and are monitoring the situation closely.

About the recent incident of distributing wrong question paper to 12th standard students, Mir said that the government has already constituted a committee. “There will be no leniency to the responsible person and the factual report will be submitted to the government.”

He further said that it will start probe into the incident from tomorrow. “Whosoever is responsible for this blunder intentionally or unintentionally will not be spared.”

Notably, on Wednesday 12th standard students appearing in annual regular exams were given question paper of 11th standard. The board later cancelled the exam—(KNO)

JKBOSE Orders Investigation into Class 12 Physical Education Exam Error

Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Order

This is an order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on March 20, 2024. The order states that the examination of “Physical Education” subject along with other subjects of class 12th Annual Regular, 2024 was scheduled today across all the Soft Zone areas of UT of J&K and Ladakh.

However, it came to light that the question papers of Physical Education pertained to Class 11th examination instead of Class 12th examination.

The authorities took immediate cognisance of the matter and ordered cancellation of examination of Physical Education which was accordingly notified.

A Committee has been constituted to probe the matter in depth and ascertain the reasons that led to the instant irregularity. The Committee shall also fix the responsibility for the negligence.

The Committee shall submit its report to the competent authority within 07 days.

This order has been signed by the Assistant Secretary, Administration Central of JKBOSE.

Kashmir braces for light to moderate rains, night temp records increase

Srinagar, Mar 21 (GNS): Amid forecast for fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunders during next 48 hours, night temperature recorded an increase and settled above normal in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a minimum of 9.9°C against 4.2°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 5.2°C for the summer capital of JK for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 6.4°C against 2.4°C on the previous night and it was 2.4°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 3.0°C against minus 1.1°C on the previous night and it was 2.9°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 8.2°C against 4.0°C on the previous night and it was 4.7°C above normal, the official said.

Kupwara town recorded a low of 7.3°C against 1.9°C on the previous night and it was 4.2°C below normal there, the official said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 3.2°C against minus 0.8°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 5.5°C for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Jammu, he said, recorded a minimum of 18.4°C and it was below normal by 3.5°C for the winter capital of J&K.

Banihal recorded a low of 9.0°C, Batote 11.6°C and Bhaderwah 5.0°C, he said.

He said there is possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at many places with thunder/lightning & gusty winds over plains of Kashmir and Jammu division till March 22.

On March 23, he said, weather is expected to be generally dry weather and on March 24, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/snow at few places.

From March 25-26, he said, generally dry weather is expected while from March 27-28, weather is generally going to be partly to generally cloudy with possibility of light rain/snow at few places. (GNS)

The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024, which also serves as a screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 has been postponed due to the impending General Election from May 26 to June 16, 2024.

The official notice reads, “Due to the schedule of the impending General Election, the Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024 which also serves as screening test for Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 from 26-05- 2024 to 16-06-2024.”

Srinagar, Mar 20: As the day temperature has gone up in J&K parts, the weatherman here has predicted two-day wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow (March 21), saying that light to moderate rains and snow is expected at many places.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a fresh Western Disturbance is affecting Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow and under its influence light to moderate rain and snow is expected to commence in parts of Kashmir from tomorrow afternoon onwards.

Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather would remain generally cloudy; there is a possibility of light to moderate rains, snow at many places with thunder, lightning and gusty winds over plans of Kashmir and Jammu division.

An Independent Weather Forecaster, Faizan Arif Keng also stated that by evening tomorrow, most parts in Kashmir Valley would have received a spell of rain and snow.

Rain and snow can activities can continue in some areas on 22nd March, he said, adding that least impact of WD is expected in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.

There is a possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds in some areas during this period, he added.

However, the MeT Director stated that the weather would remain generally dry on March 23 while on March 24, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain and snow at isolated places.

While the weather is expected to remain dry during March 25 and 26, the MeT Director said on March 27 to March 29, the weather would remain generally cloudy with possibility of light rain and snow at few places—(KNO)

J&K admin orders inquiry, into wrong question paper distribution in 12th class exam

Committee been asked to submit its findings within seven days

Srinagar, Mar 20 (KB): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the erroneous distribution of question papers for the 12th-grade exam, contrary to the directive issued on Tuesday.

According to an official order, a copy of which lies with the Kashmir Bulletin – KB, reads the committee will be headed by the Directors of School Education for Kashmir and Jammu.

“The committee will investigate the incident involving the incorrect distribution of 11th-grade question papers to 12th-grade students who took the Board examination on March 20, 2024,” the order further states.

Additionally, it mentions, “the committee will also investigate the circumstances leading to the cancellation of the examination and assign responsibility for the negligence at the supervisory/administrative level. The committee has been asked to submit its findings within seven days,” reads the order.—(Kashmir Bulletin)

The project is funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MOEFCC), Government of India.

Qualifications

  • Masters (MSc/MVSc) in Wildlife Sciences OR M.Sc. in the Zoology/Forestry/Veterinary Sc./ Biotechnology with experience in the Wildlife field (Essential)
  • B.Sc in Agriculture & allied fields/ Natural Sciences with relevant significant experience of working in Wildlife conservation genetics enabling the candidate to perform the assigned job in the Protected Areas and molecular biology labs (Desirable)

Job Description

  • The Project Associate will be responsible for site visits of PAs for field surveys and collection of samples.
  • They will also be involved in molecular genetics work in SKUAST-Kashmir and WII, Dehradun.
  • The Project Associate will be required to report for preparation of project reports.
  • They must have excellent skills in computers, molecular work, and spatial analysis of data with GIS.

Terms and Conditions

  • The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  • The candidate engaged shall not have any claim for absorption in the SKUAST.
  • The selected candidate shall be on probation for six months and will be reviewed periodically for performance. If found unsatisfactory, the engagement shall be terminated.
  • The selected candidates shall have to remain stationed for sometimes at the respective field stations and work in the out stationed laboratories (WII Dehradun) under the project.
