Srinagar: Director SKIMS Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie on Tuesday said that nearly 1,200 paramedical posts across different cadres are under consideration for recruitment, including around 500 positions for nursing staff.

Addressing the International Nurses Day celebrations at SKIMS here, Professor Ganie, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Proposed recruitment process is expected to substantially reduce the shortage of nursing staff at SKIMS within the next three months.”

He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister’s administrations, for facilitating the recruitment process and supporting efforts aimed at strengthening healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Director said enhancing the workforce would significantly improve patient care management and reinforce the spirit of this year’s International Nurses Day theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

In another important announcement, Prof. Ganie said SKIMS is also working on introducing a paid nursing internship programme aimed at empowering young nursing professionals and equipping them with valuable clinical exposure and practical experience.

JKBOSE Extends Examination Form Submission Dates for Class 10 and 12 Private/Bi-Annual Exams 2026

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially extended the last dates for submission of online permission-cum-examination forms for Secondary School Examination (SSE) Class 10 and Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12) Annual Private/Bi-Annual 2026 examinations. The decision comes as a relief for thousands of students across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh who were unable to complete the process within the earlier notified deadlines.

According to the latest notification issued by JKBOSE on May 11, 2026, the board has revised the cutoff dates for both normal fee submissions and submissions with late fees.

The notification applies to students from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions, including winter and summer zone areas of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Major Relief for Class 10 and 12 Students

For many students appearing in the Annual Private and Bi-Annual examinations, timely submission of examination forms is one of the most important academic formalities. Missing the deadline can lead to additional late fees or even disqualification from appearing in the examination cycle.

Recognising the difficulties faced by students and educational institutions, JKBOSE has once again extended the submission schedule. This move is expected to benefit:

  • Private candidates of Class 10
  • Class 12 Higher Secondary Part-II students
  • Students from remote areas
  • Candidates facing internet or documentation issues
  • Students from winter and summer zones
  • Candidates from Ladakh region

The board stated that the extension has been granted in continuation of earlier notifications issued on April 24, 2026 and May 6, 2026.

Revised JKBOSE Examination Form Submission Dates 2026

JKBOSE has revised the examination form submission schedule as follows:

Category Previous Deadline Revised Deadline
Submission on normal prescribed fee May 13, 2026 May 20, 2026
Submission with late fee May 20, 2026 May 26, 2026

The revised dates are applicable for both online and offline submission modes.

This means students who missed the earlier deadline now have additional time to complete the process without unnecessary stress.

What the JKBOSE Notification Says

The official notification issued by the Academic Division of JKBOSE clearly mentions that the extension is being granted for the submission of Permission Cum Examination Forms for:

  • Secondary School Examination (Class 10)
  • Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12)
  • Annual (Private) examinations
  • Bi-Annual examinations
  • Students from J&K and Ladakh UTs

The notice further clarifies that all other terms and conditions mentioned in the original notification dated April 24, 2026 will remain unchanged.

The notification was issued under reference number: PSEKONOTF/2/2025-7757713 dated May 11, 2026.

Why This Extension Matters

The extension is significant because thousands of students depend on private and bi-annual examination opportunities to continue their academic journey. Several candidates often face difficulties such as:

  • Delayed document verification
  • Technical issues in online submission
  • Internet connectivity problems in remote regions
  • Payment gateway failures
  • Delays in obtaining school records
  • Lack of awareness regarding deadlines

Students from hilly and remote districts of Jammu, Kashmir, Kargil, and Ladakh frequently encounter logistical challenges while completing board formalities. Extending the deadlines helps ensure that no deserving candidate misses the opportunity to appear in the exams.

Who Can Apply Under the Extended Schedule?

The revised schedule is applicable to:

Class 10 Students

Candidates appearing in:

  • SSE Annual Private Examination 2026
  • SSE Bi-Annual Examination 2026

Class 12 Students

Candidates appearing in:

  • Higher Secondary Part-II Annual Private Examination 2026
  • Higher Secondary Part-II Bi-Annual Examination 2026

The extension covers:

  • Jammu Division
  • Kashmir Division
  • Summer zone areas
  • Winter zone areas
  • UT of Ladakh

Online and Offline Submission Allowed

One of the most important aspects of the notification is that JKBOSE has permitted submissions through both:

  • Online mode
  • Offline mode

This flexibility is particularly beneficial for students residing in areas where internet services remain unreliable or where digital access is limited.

Candidates are advised to verify all documents carefully before final submission.

Impact on Students Across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh

The extension is especially important for students from:

  • Border districts
  • Snow-bound regions

  • Result announcements
  • Registration procedures
  • Date sheets
  • Re-evaluation processes
  • Migration certificates

Students are advised to regularly check official notifications to stay updated.

Understanding Annual Private and Bi-Annual Examinations

Wrong Subject Selection

Selecting incorrect subjects can create major issues later.

Incorrect Photograph Upload

Blurred or old photographs may lead to rejection.

Mismatch in Details

Details should match school and registration records.

Delayed Fee Payment

Incomplete payment means incomplete submission.

Ignoring Confirmation Slip

Always download the acknowledgement after submission.

  1. Verification of forms
  2. Generation of candidate records
  3. Release of admit cards

  • Examination centre details

Importance of Timely Notifications by JKBOSE

Educational boards play a crucial role in ensuring that students receive adequate time and support to complete academic procedures.

By issuing timely extensions, JKBOSE:

  • Reduces pressure on students
  • Prevents exclusion due to technical issues
  • Promotes accessibility
  • Helps maintain academic continuity

Such measures become even more important in geographically challenging regions like Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Advice for Students Preparing for Exams

While completing examination formalities is important, students should also focus on preparation strategies.

Create a Study Plan

Divide subjects into manageable sections and allocate time daily.

Revise Previous Papers

Past question papers help understand:

  • Exam pattern
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Marking schemes

Focus on Weak Subjects

Spend extra time on subjects where performance is weak.

Avoid Social Media Distractions

Minimising distractions can significantly improve concentration.

Take Care of Health

Balanced sleep and proper nutrition improve academic performance.

What Schools and Institutions Should Do

Educational institutions also play an important role during examination form submission periods.

Schools should:

  • Inform students about deadlines
  • Assist in online form filling
  • Verify records carefully
  • Help students resolve discrepancies
  • Provide technical assistance where needed

Timely institutional support can prevent major issues later.

Students React Positively to Deadline Extension

The extension has been welcomed by many students and parents who were worried about missing the previous deadlines.

Several candidates reportedly faced:

  • Server congestion
  • Delays in obtaining required certificates
  • Travel difficulties
  • Financial constraints

The additional days provide relief and allow students to complete the process without panic.

Official Communication and Administrative Instructions

The notification copy has also been circulated to various administrative and educational authorities including:

  • Commissioner Secretary School Education Department
  • Directors of School Education
  • Chief Education Officers
  • Examination and Secrecy Units
  • JKBOSE Sub-Offices
  • IT and Information Sections

The board has instructed officials to upload the notification on the official website and circulate it through local media channels.

This ensures wider public awareness among students and institutions.

Why Students Must Regularly Check Official Notifications

Relying solely on social media or unofficial sources can sometimes lead to confusion and misinformation.

Students should:

  • Visit the JKBOSE website regularly
  • Follow official notices
  • Consult schools for clarification
  • Verify updates before taking action

Official notifications remain the most reliable source of examination-related information.

Future Academic Timeline for JKBOSE Students

Following the completion of examination form submissions, students can expect the following sequence:

Expected Activity Likely Timeline
Completion of form verification After May 26
Admit card release Before examinations
Date sheet publication Expected soon
Conduct of exams As per board schedule
Result declaration After evaluation

Students should remain prepared academically while also ensuring that all documentation is complete.

Final Reminder for Candidates

Students who have not yet submitted their forms should complete the process at the earliest possible opportunity. Waiting until the final date may lead to:

  • Website traffic issues
  • Transaction failures
  • Missing documents
  • Submission delays

Candidates are strongly encouraged to double-check all information before final submission.

The JKBOSE decision to extend the examination form submission dates for Class 10 and Class 12 Annual Private/Bi-Annual 2026 examinations comes as a major relief for students across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

With revised deadlines now set for:

  • May 20, 2026 (normal fee)
  • May 26, 2026 (late fee)

students have received valuable additional time to complete the process smoothly.

The extension reflects the board’s effort to support students facing technical, logistical, and administrative challenges. Candidates are advised not to delay further and to complete all formalities well before the final deadlines.

Online Classes, WFH & Less Fuel Use: PM Modi’s Big Appeal Amid West Asia Crisis

After work-from-home push, PM Modi calls for ‘remote digital classrooms’ to tackle fuel crisis

The Prime Minister has framed online learning and working from home as national duties to protect foreign exchange reserves amid rising West Asian tensions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an appeal to educational institutions across India, asking schools and colleges to consider a temporary shift to online classes to help the nation navigate a burgeoning energy crisis and stabilise the economy.

Speaking on Monday, during the inauguration of the Sardardham Hostel complex in Vadodara, the Prime Minister framed the current global instability, triggered by escalating tensions in West Asia and a surge in crude oil prices, as one of the “major crises of this decade.”

A call for austerity and innovation

The Prime Minister’s suggestion to return to “Covid-style” online learning is part of a broader austerity push aimed at reducing India’s dependence on fuel imports.

“If the Covid pandemic was the biggest crisis of this century, then the circumstances created by the war in West Asia are one of the major crises of this decade,” PM Modi told the gathering. “Just as we together overcame the challenge of Covid, we will surely get through this crisis as well.”

The logic behind the move is twofold. First, reducing the daily movement of thousands of school buses and private vehicles would significantly cut petrol and diesel consumption. Second, by lowering fuel demand, the government aims to protect India’s foreign exchange reserves, which are under pressure as global oil prices remain above $105 per barrel.

A wider clampdown: WFH push and gold curbs

The appeal to schools follows a similar recommendation for the corporate sector. The Prime Minister has encouraged companies to revive Work-From-Home (WFH) arrangements and prioritise virtual meetings.

Beyond the digital shift, the Prime Minister’s address included several other “national duty” appeals: a strong push for greater use of metros, electric buses and carpooling; an unusual request for citizens to delay gold purchases, noting that the precious metal puts pressure on foreign exchange reserves; and a renewed call to avoid imported goods to further strengthen the domestic economy.

While some tech-forward educational groups have welcomed the suggestion as a proactive way to use existing digital infrastructure, opposition leaders have raised concerns. Critics argue that a shift to online classes could once again widen the “digital divide” for students in rural areas or those without high-speed internet access.

Regardless, many major school boards and state governments are reportedly reviewing the Prime Minister’s suggestion, though no mandatory pan-India order has been issued.
