Kashmir consumes mutton worth Rs 72 crore on this Eid-ul-Adha

400 trucks loaded with livestock enter Kashmir 4 days ahead of Eid, says Gen Secy Mutton Dealers Association

Srinagar, Jun 20 (KNO): On this Eid-ul-Adha, the people across Kashmir have consumed mutton worth Rs 72 crore in the Valley with the concerned dealers informing that 400 trucks loaded with the livestock reached here last four days ahead of the Muslim festival.

General Secretary of the Mutton Dealers Association Kashmir, Mehraj ud Din, speaking exclusively with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that 400 trucks loaded with the livestock reached Kashmir four days ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha.

According to the data shared by him, 60,000 livestock reached here particularly for the Eid, which costs around 72 crore.

He further informed that Kashmir witnessed significant mutton trade, with approximately 1800 trucks loaded with live sheep entering the region between May 15 to June 15.

Each truck carried around 150 livestock, he said, adding that despite the substantial influx, market sales were notably lower than last year’s Eid ul-Adha, resulting in a surplus of mutton towards the end of the period.

“The unsold stock was primarily composed of local supplies and a smaller portion from Delhi Walla sheep. Nevertheless, there was no shortage of meat in the market, ensuring that consumers had adequate access to mutton,” he said.

Sharing details about the monthly sales, he said the total stock brought into the valley was approximately worth Rs 324 crores for the month—(KNO)

JKSSB New Update for 6000 Posts – Check Here

Govt withdraws 6,000 posts from JKSSB recruitment, new notification in August

Srinagar, Jun 20 (KNO): The anticipation among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for government jobs has been prolonged as the government has withdrawn approximately 6,000 posts that were referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment.

This decision affects various departments, including the Home Department, for positions intended for the financial years 2022 to 2023.

The posts withdrawn include around 752 police sub-inspectors, approximately 4,000 police constables, 150 positions of Junior Engineer Civil, about 200 electrical engineers, among others. These positions were referred to JKSSB without finalizing the new reservation rules.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Correspondent, the central government recently allocated a ten percent reservation to the hill community of the state.

Due to this new reservation policy, the posts had to be withdrawn to align with the updated reservation rules. The General Administration Department has instructed the concerned departments to finalize the reservation rules before referring these posts back to JKSSB.

This adjustment process is expected to take one to two months. Consequently, JKSSB will likely issue notifications for these new posts only after August. JKSSB Chairman Rakesh Sharma confirmed that all the posts have been withdrawn and will be re-referred following the establishment of the new reservation rules, after which the recruitment process can proceed.

In related developments, the recruitment process for the posts in the Forest Department, including Forest Guard and Forester, is expected to commence by the end of July. This process will start with a physical examination followed by a written test. Although notifications for these positions were issued in 2022, the recruitment process has yet to begin even after 2023.

Additionally, the deadline for applying for the position of District Judge has been extended to July 15. The Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh High Court’s Additional Registrar Administrative issued this extension order, pushing back the initial deadline from June 5 to provide more time for online applications—(KNO)

Received NEET Paper Night Before Exam, Memorized Answers: Arrested Student

0

NEET exam paper row: Student protests rocked the country last week over allegations of NEET-UG 2024 paper leak.

Patna: The burning issue of irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) has taken a new turn with four arrested men confessing that question paper for the medical entrance exam was leaked the previous night.Student protests rocked the country last week over allegations of NEET-UG 2024 paper leak and grace marks awarded to over 1,500 aspirants. While the grace marks were later scrapped and the students were offered a re-test, paper leak was denied by the education minister.

The four men arrested from Bihar include aspirant Anurag Yadav, his uncle Sikandar – a junior engineer at Danapur municipal council – and two others – Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand.

They admitted that they received the question paper the day prior to the exam and were made to memorize it. In a statement to the Bihar cops, they said the exact questions were asked in the exam the next day.

Anurag Yadav, who was preparing for the exam in the coaching hub of Kota, said his uncle asked him to return since he had planned to leak the paper. “I was made to read and memorize it at night. When I went for the exam, I found the same questions which I had memorized correctly. After the exam, the police came and caught me, and I confessed my crime,” he said.

Yadavendu claimed that the other two accused, Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand, told him they could leak the question paper of any competitive exam and it would cost ₹ 30-32 lakh for each aspirant to clear NEET.

“I agreed and told them I have four boys (who need help in passing the exam). On June 4 night, I took them with me and Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand gave them the question paper. Out of greed, I had also asked them for ₹ 40 lakh each instead of ₹ 30 lakh,” he told the cops.

He said he was caught with the admit cards of the students during a vehicle check the next day and confessed his crime.

Nearly 24 lakh students had appeared for the NEET-UG 2024 for undergraduate medical courses on May 5. But the results, which was declared at least 10 days before schedule, were marred with allegations of a question paper leak and grace marks being awarded to over 1,500 students.

The issue also took a political turn with Opposition parties targeting the government over alleged rigging, paper leak, and corruption. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had contended that BJP-ruled states were the “epicentre of paper leak”.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan last week rejected the allegations. Stating there was no evidence of any rigging, he accused the Opposition of spreading lies.

The Supreme Court, while hearing a batch of petitions over the alleged irregularities in the exam, on Tuesday came down heavily on the National Testing Agency and said it must ensure that all candidates are treated fairly.
